You will be the 10th black person in Korea Jambo, maybe they will do you an award.
You might even end up on TV or something.

And breathe...
I have to get this off my chest. Not necessarily a tough day. The opposite in fact. It's _so_ easy at work because people are idiots and there is zero accountability.
Anyway, we have a DGX at work. We've had it for 3+ years. I've been a user on it, but not sysadmin. One of my colleagues was nominally sysadmin, but left recently. He and the team have always maintained that it only has a tiny storage drive on it, 500GB. Always found that strange given its a multi-100k machine, but on we go.
Anyway, yesterday it ran out of space for the umpteenth time. I'm doing stuff on it at the moment and decided to investigate so I new who to pummel to clear up space. I find one guy who has 50GB of virtual environments on it. He gets a prod. Bit more digging and I find 150GB in the tmp directory. Wtf. Then I find an old dump of Docker images coming in at 140GB. How the fuck has this happened...
Anyway, I'm then digging a bit further and realise there is another drive at 3% capacity. I thought it might be a networked one or something. Ask my old colleague and he says, nope that's on the DGX.
IT'S 7 (SEVEN) FUCKING TERABYTES. SEVEN.
The team has been sitting on a 7TB drive and constraining itself to a 500GB drive for MORE THAN THREE YEARS.

They clearly didn’t need the 7 terabytes. Steal it and sell it.

Nice work on the interview, Jambo! When's round two? They said 1-2 weeks as there's a group of like 150 people to get through. They said they think I'm exactly what the organisation is looking for so fingers crossed eh?

My wife laughed at me for doing an interview over zoom, just wearing the top half of the suit and normal clothes underneath. Why on earth would I have done any different. That sounded absurd for a fleeting moment until it dawned on me that I don't even put trousers on for meetings. One day I'm going to forget to turn the camera off if I BRB but so far so good.

He is an older gentleman, and didn't understand Zoom or Teams or whatever very well. He is suited up above the waist, and in his boxers below. He set up his camera on a dresser and went over and sat on his bed, not realising that in doing so we'd see more of him. Thank God he wasn't hanging brain

I thought we used to have a "just got made redundant" thread? OR was that on Eurogamer? Anyway. End of 2021, with my daughter turning 12, going to secondary school and becoming more independent (going by herself by bus instead of being dropped off/picked up), I decided that maybe it was time to consider a job change. I'd been at my employer 12 years and didn't feel like there were many places to go from the very operational job I was in. My reasoning was that I was 46, 47 in sight and if I wanted to switch jobs, better now than in a few years' time. I was contacted through Linkedin by a logistics and transport company, an industry I've never worked in. I dismissed it initially, as it doesn't seem like the most stable or desirable environment. But reading some interviews online with the CEO, he seemed to be an interesting character with a clear vision on where he is taking his company. Long story short. I took the jump. Same pay as before but with a satisfying challenge of starting their marcom department from scratch. Since then the transport industry has been suffering. Volumes are down, turnvover is down. Since end of December 2022, there's been quite some stress within the ranks, people have been let go. I never felt particularly worried or felt my job was in danger but this morning the COO asked if I had a moment and told me they're making me redunant effective immediately. I'll get 10 weeks pay-out, so I'm good until the end of November. It's a complete shock but I'm also strangely calm and even fairly optimistic about it. The job market is good. I'm sure I can find something new by the start of December. If I find something sooner, it's money in my pocket. It's ... odd though. to think I'm off in an hours' time and that's it. Also, this probably shouldn't have been my first thought but I did think "Oh wow, that's going to free up sooo much time to play Baldur's gate 3". Aaah, the naivité. "I'm sure I can find something new by the start of December". So after 2 interviews and an online assessment, I received a contract proposal last Thursday. As I parked up to go find out about the proposal, I received an email from another company I interviewed with to inform me that they're moving into the final round, I'm still in it. Decision is due this week. My gut tells me to go with the proposal I received. I'm still waiting on the decision from the 2nd company. Either way, after much, much longer than anticipated, it looks ill be reputably employed again in the near future. *whew*

String out the first proposal for the maximum amount of time they’ll suffer -2 days and see jf the second lot get their shit together in that time.
Assuming you prefer the second lot. If not, sign offer 1 and fuck offer 2 into space.

I have been added to the call list for our 0800 number without being consulted. Found out when a random IT person messaged to ask if I minded having a different Teams phone number to my old desk phone.
Also my name seems to have been re-added as one of the rotating chairs for the team meeting. They can simply fuck off right there, I am not doing that stupid shit.

Lizard has been unable to sit on a rotating chair since "The Incident". He still often awakens and night screaming and covered in sweat.

I would rather take a hammer and chisel to my own bollocks than listen to another old woman who looks like Patrick Troughton go on a nonsensical ramble at me about their irrational hatred of, and refusal to learn, the metric system.
