Thank you for thoughts and prayers.
In my defence the report is structured seemingly at random and is littered with typos and formatting issues. If you were to submit something as evidence with your name on the front you'd probably get it proof read.
Still, though, could've turned the page.

In other news I've descended to new levels of pettiness in trying to stop the pube-emitter sitting at my desk. I unplugged the dock's power cable, and hid the connecting cable down the back of the desk.
I doubt it will work, pube features always wants to sit at my desk because they are an annoying shithead. So many people have left that we don't have to hotdesk, but this person just will not commit to one of the empty desks because none of them fit their ideal.

Reviewing stuff at the moment. Yesterday spent 45 minutes trying to work out the general location of some 19th century boundary from a ye olde timey written description. Turned over the page and there was a map. I need a holiday. They're digging in the wrong place!

In better news, in an effort to blag my way into a conference for free with a view to doing some personal networking for jobs, I've somehow ended up as a speaker. Bricking it a little bit! Spoke at the conference which ended up being a panel discussion on a topic completely unsuited to me. Managed to blag my way through it though and people looked engaged and interested, which for the after lunch slot is as much as I can ask for. Certainly wasn't the car crash it could have been! Got some advice and made some contacts so all in all a good day.

Nice one Rich, you must have been shitting yourself when you realised I wasn't your area of expertise you would be talking about.
Seems you and Motti are both trying to get the same job. Maybe you could team up and be the batman and robin of financial crime solving.

Last year we had 2 useless temps, even kept one on part time from the agency but we let him go as always not available in the afternoon when we had customer queries etc. Of course my department hired him again for the summer. As this is the new senior manager that hired him, I did take a risk and said not to hire them again. Once again I have to deal with this fucking idiot chud, with a moon sized chip on his shoulder.

7 per cent layoffs happening next week at my place. Also we are hiring other tech roles and the number of CVs that are “available now” is about 60-70 per cent. Loads from gaming industry too (which I am not in).

I'd quite love to head back out to Asia to live. I lived there in 2007/2008 so it's probably changed quite a bit.

Best of luck, Jambo! (Actually, scratch that - you don't need anything as nebulous as luck. You got this.)

Interview 1 of 2 passed. Onto the next one. It feels weird having to wear a nice shirt for Zoom. I don't really do shirts.

Firstly - Nice one, fingers crossed for the second!
Secondly - If you don't do shirts have you considered:

My wife laughed at me for doing an interview over zoom, just wearing the top half of the suit and normal clothes underneath.
Why on earth would I have done any different.

I guess it would be fine for a night at Ramshackle at the Birmingham Academy in 2008.

Maybe. I've read on Reddit that the 2nd stage interview are quite passive and don't show much emotion, maybe it will get them into the spirit of things.
