Wow, that's one of the weirdest things I've heard in this thread!

Is that errr legal?
It has also has some weird undertones behind it.

Apparently it's legal but I very much doubt it - MD sent an email to all staff saying it was all above board and he's checked with the landlord and insurance after multiple staff (including myself) aired our concerns.
It's a fucked up situation. I don't blame the guy from India at all and he's going to have two months of staff behind cold to him through no fault of his own and has to work and live in the same place.
If by weird undertones you mean slavery I fully agree. I think a few of us are going to raise a formal grievance tbh.

Yeah pretty much but also along the line of not that we're tight it's more that we don't even have the respect for you as a human being who deserves a place to reside in privacy and with dignity.
I'm actually shocked.

All heard second hand but apparently we asked our French parent company for money to put him in a hotel and they said "Why? You have everything required on site" because we have a kitchen, toilets and showers.
We never wanted him here for obvious reasons but they've forced the issue (they're the bosses after all). I'm guessing we didn't want to pay roughly 5-6K to put him in a hotel for a couple of months either, hence the converted common room.
Absolutely no idea what he's going to do for food, clean clothes etc.

Fairly sure one of our warehouse team is already at it.
Selfishly I'm worried if it comes out in the wash and we put him in a hotel a member of staff here will be let go to balance the books.

I'm fucking shocked they think that's acceptable, on so many levels that is utterly wrong. I'm surprised he came over, would have told them to fucking do one.

That is ridiculous.
Where I work, we had a fella who had split with his mrs and was sleeping, secretly (besides a few mates), under his desk every night. He was caught after about 6 months having tripped an alarm with a midnight toilet dash, but somehow had been undetected until then.

That's the impression I get too.
It'll be interesting to actually talk to the guy once he's settled in. It's not the first company he's been sent to within the group to learn how/what they draw.

They've actually done a decent job turning it into a bedroom - double bed, wardrobe, drawers, TV etc.
We shut the office/factory on weekends so fuck knows what he's going to do then. And there's bank holidays coming up.
