Our Head Of has just been sent a transcription of a meeting where I said 'I would sack it off' which co-pilot has reported as 'I would suck it off'. Fucking AI. Did former user Geefe send it?

Hopefully it was co-pilot that you wanted to sack/fuck it off.

Sorry to hear your news zissou. That sucks. Taking time to get straight definitely seems like a good idea.

Our temporary head of department keeps trying to make decisions about stuff she doesn’t understand. She’s only only does it on team calls when I’m not on them cos those in my team are too weak to stand up for themselves.

This was a discussion about whether to keep a pre-meeting meeting in the calendar. The technical resources on a big project gather to discuss how to best manage breaking bad news to the board level stake holders the following day.
Im not resourced to the project or even project staff at all, I'm there as one of the leads who will be consuming it, so I really couldnt care less, tbh.

Got my meeting at half 10. Going to push for garden leave. Logging on everyday to do fuck all would be a kick in the bollocks.

Trying to explain to a colleague how to set up some files for use in a virtual assessment centre.
It's a convoluted process but when the colleague isn't even sure on how to move windows around a screen, or how to drag and drop files, I have to concede there's a massive gulf between my knowledge (which I consider basic) and theirs.

No real response as I expected. I said that because of my bereavement this year, that I would require garden leave and they accepted and said it might be that or paid leave. They have an outplacement service which they'll offer me to get a new job.. like brush up your CV/coaching etc. I asked for another meeting when asked, so I can delay the process another week for another weeks wage. And I have to get an employment lawyer which they'll pay for, to check it is all OK. Just a case of doing fuck all now.

They're definitely older than me, mid-to-late 50's. Not ancient though, and I know people older than that who understand basic functionality. Then again I also know people my age who struggle snapping windows to the side of screen so two windows don't overlap.

I'd even go as far as saying as a teacher I'm concerned that many young people are not prepared for certain things in terms of computer literacy seeing as some of them expect how they use a phone to translate over to a laptop/PC I'm not saying all but more the younger generation.

Just a case of doing fuck all now.  Sorry to hear your news and I mostly agree about doing nothing, except I'd suggest getting your CV and cover letters up to an absolutely top notch standard on their time.

That's a fair point actually, haven't considered that but can easily imagine how some younglings might be over unaccustomed to Windows type OS

There is a sweet spot of computer literacy that I think most of us probably sit in where we have to provide tech support for the elderly and for Gen Z and below who have never used anything more taxing than an iPad.
Just last week I was complaining 'fucking hell, at your age I was having to work all of this stuff out for myself' after my third support ticket of the day.

I did go for the tug heartstrings approach, which I hope they touched a feel bad nerve, but you know these companies don't care about you. They fucked up the wording on the statutory pay, so it is 50% extra and not 1 and half.. my mate said I should challenge it with the solicitor, but just a case of misworded.

Right in both cases, they don't care about you and as your friend says challenge the wording.

There was a vid about a games company saying that at some point at conventions they had people turning up who didn't know how to you use M&K, so they needed more game pads. Now it's kids not knowing how to use a gamepad as it's all touchscreen interactions that they are uses to. It's going to be all voice interaction soon with AI...

The solicitor/lawyer thing is a piece of piss by the way. I had to do that when my stressful place fucked me over. Takes about 20 minutes where they just go through the t and c's, answering and deciphering it all for you. Sounds like you'll soon have your feet up eating wotsits. Good job.

We have league tables at work and I fucking hate them, the data that they are built on is far too small a sample size. I pointed it out on my review and said it's demotivating and unprofessional. The next day I had the area manager come down and tear me a new one to which I informed him that he can say what he wants but I maintain my thoughts on the matter and that people that don't understand data shouldn't be producing the tables.
Basically fucked my job up and now couldn't progress even if I wanted to. Something will pop up eventually 😂

Earlier this week, we caught someone in the act of swapping price stickers on items in an attempt to fraudulently obtain things at vastly lower prices and expecting us to be too stupid to notice the discrepancy, and had her on CCTV very, very clearly doing it. We had security tailing her in the first place because we recognised her from a previous recent occasion where she'd attempted the same thing, and her image had been shared by the security people as other stores in the area had reported her for the same thing.
There's no possibility whatsoever of mistaken identity, as she had the same gaudy gold puffa coat on in every report, in addition to having one of those faces you can only describe as "distinctly unfortunate looking".
After being informed of the footage we had of her, and being threatened with police unless she left immediately, she has then gone home and actually had the gall enough to make a complaint to our head office about feeling victimised.
The security people have thanked her for providing her address and passed it on to the local relevants.
