Oy! I'm a people leader (well, I was). Mind you, I was one of the good ones, though I would say that wouldn't I  Anyhoo - I just realised that I need to get a mobile sim as I've had a company phone for over twenty years, so I haven't got a clue. What is the best to get price wise with unlimited (or loads of at least) data and decent coverage? Works phone was Vodaphone and that was crap for coverage no matter where I was in the country. |

Sorry to hear all this. Although maybe a decent wedge of cash and something else might work out better in the long run. I've been in the same boat where they hired someone to literally bring the company to its knees and then they'd move on to a different company and do the same again under a different name. (Honestly, it's true - I kept tabs on this person and she changed her name and did it again at a couple of other companies over the years. They actually hire people to do this - it's not accidental) Also, giffgaff are pretty good mobile providers. |

Good luck dmukgr Sounds fairly similar to what is happening with our company. I found out yesterday they sacked all but one Indian software tester. Due to their laws over there, it was a meeting, then please go. Brutal. Having somewhat read into the situation, it is interesting that he's a senior and I'm a senior.. so in some ways I hope I keep my job.. rather job seek with a job, than without. |

Meanwhile, in slightly more positive news, I'm working from home today, just doing induction training. I've not worked from home for about a year and a half.
It really is a mixed up thing with everyone and jobs at the moment isn't it.

My wife's at an up or out place (IE if you don't get promoted within expected time you get moved on), and they are going to be cutting quite a lot of the most senior partners. (So the remaining partners get more profit!) Brutal!

I feel a bit bad given the above but I just got an HR call and they gave me the job I interviewed for on Monday.
I’m still also shit at negotiating and probably could have held out for a bit more but fuck it, another couple of percent wouldn’t make any real difference. Having even more control of the department does.

+1 for also feeling bad about dmukgr being fucked around like and not wanting to post positive news. After yesterday's bullshit just got off a call with a recruiter who saw my details and has got a fair few positions that I might like and as soon as that call ended I got an email from a place that I'm very familiar with offering me an interview next Wednesday. It usually comes in 3's so I'm guessing I'm going to win the Euromillions. |

I used to make computer things, especially to do with games. In the old eurogamer days you would see the forum on loads of people’s computers as you walked around the building.
Well, I didn’t - I just did endless PowerPoint and told others to peddle faster.
