That's pretty unprofessional. Especially as it's setting up for a second interview. Even with benefit of the doubt and struggling to get the details from whoever is doing the next round they should be in constant communication with you Jambo. That's not a good sign for me.
Think a lot of companies forget interviews are for candidates to decide if they want to work at the company just as much as it is for companies deciding on who they want to employ. Not a good look.

I think I've just peaked at my current job. So with 40 peoples jobs under threat, we are having a townhall meeting.. discussing the future and rebrand. All the new execs are introducing themselves, and some are spamming the clapping emoji LOL.

Question. You've been offered a 2nd interview and to pick a date and time, you request the Thursday on offer at a time they offer. You send an email to confirm this. No response. You WhatsApp the director who says oh yes thanks. Silence. You message a day later to ask if that's all OK and will I get details about where the interview is, who I'm seeing etc and they respond quite late to say they'll confirm details early next week. It is now next week and I've received no information yet. It's honestly not a great look is it from a prospective employer? Thoughts as I'm a bit perturbed as to why I'm doing all the chasing for something that isn't my first choice. If you were the employer and a candidate acted like that you wouldn't employ them. It gives the impression that the company can't oeganise anything.

I dunno, I'll most likely hear something tomorrow from them (and if not then they can go fuck themselves) but it doesn't really fill me with enthusiasm as if I had an important issue how long would it take to get a response on things. If I did this to a client of theirs I'd imagine I'd be dragged over coals.

Unless there's some reason you don't know yet why there's been a delay. But still, yeah, it's not brilliant

Which is always a possibility but it takes like, what, a minute to fire of a WhatsApp/email and the co director has WhatsApped me a few times already.
I also had this with Serco for an esol tutor role before the interview where they messaged me on the day of the interview to cancel it 5 minutes before and to this date have never got back to me after the interview which was about 4-5 weeks ago which obviously means I was unsuccessful but it's so fucking rude and unprofessional to say "we'll get back to you" and then don't.

Yeah it's hard not to see it in a positive light tbh. Let's see what tomorrow brings. Can't do anything else tonight

How was work Quaddy.
I got to put the shits right up someone today. Caught him on CCTV fly tipping on our land so I phoned his company number and made it very clear he will be coming to collect it today. Could sense the life drain out of him when I said where I was from.
And that was the highlight of my day 😂

A positive scenario: you take the job and it turns out they genuinely can't oeganise a piss up in a brewery... but this means they forget they've employed you, don't give you any work to do and you spend your time at work writing a novel/playing Minesweeper/wanking

Never underestimate the capacity for ineptitude. I imagine it's relatively innocent, things not being joined up etc. Very believable in a larger organisation. I once had to tell someone I was hiring that they could hand their notice in, but no idea when a contract may or may not arrive. Probably after the start date. HR are useless cunts part 1864929

The hilarious thing is that the co-director who I've been corresponding with or receiving a lack of correspondence with is the one giving the 2nd interview. So they seem to be not joining the dots of things entirely of their own making.

They've been there for years - very low attrition. Works seems good - not too mental. Team are funny as fuck and it's all quite laid back. Seen this before etc, but have good vibes. Commute is fuck all now and I'll be working from home Friday doing training stuff. Seems too good to be true but early days

Never underestimate the capacity for ineptitude. Ineptitude or malice, it's still shitty and annoying as fuck when people say they'll do something and then just... don't.

On the other side of the spectrum, the job that offered me a 2nd interview never got back to me about an interview tomorrow. So that's that, if they ever get back to me they can get to fuck if I'm going to see them.

I'd just move on and forget about the unprofessional fuckers. Even if they do come back and try to rearrange I wouldn't want to work for anyone that disorganised.

It's all been direct through the company and all my correspondence has been with the co-director. I think I've done enough on my end, it shouldn't really be my job to chase people up after asking for confirmation twice and them saying they would contact me to give all the details. If they're already doing this stuff at this stage it's a massive red flag if I was actually employed by them. I'd almost guarantee I'll get a call tomorrow to ask where I am.

No. Spend weeks concocting an elaborate, yet subtle, revenge plan. So subtle they won't even know it's you. If the Jobcentre question you, tell them you're now a ninja.

Someone who was in a seconded managerial role at work got a final written warning and were ordered to pay back some money via commission clawback appealed the decision and after reopening the case the company just sacked him.
Everyone is in complete shock both at the sacking and the fact they could just get rid on appeal.
Tensions are very high in the office right now.
Thank goodness I've only got 25 years left to retire.

What was he on a written warning for and how come they can claim back commission?

Post by pierrepressure on Oct 10, 2024 7:25:54 GMT
Essentially he was committing commission fraud, so everything he was paid out on was getting clawed back on future commission able earnings.
As he was in a seconded role he got a final written whilst the other boss was sacked.
Think he owed about 15k which would have likely meant no commission for best part of a year so I can see why he appealed but he didn't really have a leg to stand on.
Still surprised they tinned him off though.

I don't know, that looks like a very sackable offense to me.

Yeah it does, think they gave him the benefit as his argument was he was following what others were doing, the thing that surprised everyone was after reopening the case they thought fuck it we've got enough evidence to just get rid.
Of course none of the senior leadership team who knew what was going on got in trouble.

They should definitely all be disciplined off the back of it if they were turning a blind eye.

Sounds like a bullet dodged, Jambo.
Better that they demonstrate their ineptitude now, when you still have a chance to bow out, than after they've hired you!
Still sucks, though. Hang on in there - something's bound to come along.
