It reminds me when people on large Teams calls watching a presentation about a project spam the chat with "good work!" or "exciting!", so you just get a flurry of pings.
A blind colleague was pointing out this inane posting is even worse for him, because he's already simultaneously trying to listen to the speaker and listen to the screen reader relaying the slides, and then on top of that his screen reader also reads out the comments. And sometimes he can't turn it off as there might be actually pertinent questions or info relayed there.

We generally use the emoji reactions, way less annoying, instantly visible and gone within <2 seconds. They're way more effective in creating a "woohoo" type of vibe on a call than individual chat messages.

It annoys me that there are no negative emojis. Where's the thumbs down or facepalm for when people are talking bollocks?

Interview all done. Was very much down to business and I even got to show off all my grammar knowledge. Which was nice.

I'm confused. Is everyone just replying to all? Why do people do this for innocuous emails that don't require me to see everyone's bloody thoughts on a matter or most mind numbingly all replying yes to something. Maybe copilots fault. We had a reply all cascade the other day when a menu choice email went out for the department meeting because copilot puts a ‘reply all’ suggestion and buttons at the top of the email and people robotically click it. ‘Start your reply all with: [ I Voted!] [Thanks for voting]’ Then when someone hits the first button, it gives the recipient ‘Start your reply all with: [ I voted too!]’ And so on until people start replying all with ‘can everyone stop replying to all. Shit like this makes my day, I absolutely love it.

As long as you don't have to support it, I guess.

Just a word of warning to anyone with copilot being brought in. Our corp license gives us 15 interactions a day with copilot and I get visibility of the 'AI Hub' within our tenant and some of the things people are asking it are hilarious. So, yeah, an idiot like me can read 'write me a risk assessment but make it look like it was written by a human'.

If only Copilot was available when user Geefe was trying to post that image of his colleague using AI...

Where is Geefe?
If that's a can of worms that'll bring down the wrath of the powers that be, feel free to ignore me.

That's reminds me of a time when a colleague wondered where geefe was but in a slightly better way than you did Someone (I can't remember who) finally said that out loud and he didn't like it so quit

It's a very long story short of it is he most likely embarrassed himself when we essentially caught him in a really silly lie about a work colleague using AI and it apparently saying explicit stuff which was a bit doubtful but rather than walk it back and no one would have cared he just doubled down and it led to him just leaving again most likely through embarrassment.

My favourite part of getting one or two people replying all to a department wide email is the dozen or so people that follow it up by telling everyone to not to reply all.

Not that I will be one of the 2k people with a licence engaging with it mind you. Anything that we've tried just doesn't cut it at all.

We've been given access to Github Copilot and it's absolutely mind-blowing (to me anyway). We don't have any Office stuff though, an AI to go through my email and point out stuff I might actually care about would be neat though.

A valuable piece of advice. Not that I will be one of the 2k people with a licence engaging with it mind you. Anything that we've tried just doesn't cut it at all. Ironically, I find its good at prompting *you*. If I am struggling with a task and ask it to do something like 'write a KQL query to find all instances of bad.exe' it will often do it in a different, yet unusable way to how I am trying to do it but it will give me the building blocks to do it properly, if you see what I mean. Its never actually answered my question but often points me in the right direction with its half arsed answers. But, in all honesty, all it really does for how I use it is parse out re-write the first few hits on bing so its still just a glorified search engine.

In theory we are supposed to be able to upload letters, briefings, submissions etc and then ask it to spit something out rather than have to c&p etc for subsequent pieces of work. But it's not worked so far.

Our experience is that it's great for combing through huge bits of data for specifics, but not so great at... well, much else so far.

Ive had to sit through some very boring 'do not upload customer data, idiots' briefings recently. They really are freaking out about that.

Most of the prompts just people trying to get copilot to rewrite a big list of grievances in a polite enough way to send to their boss.
AI is so laughably mundane.

We get people doing reply all quite often.
There was one that someone asked if anyone was in one of our offices. Several people who don’t work there replied all saying they were somewhere else. Someone replied saying they were in, others replied asking who else was in then if they were going to the canteen at lunch.
I closed outlook after that email but came back to it later, ready for me to delete all.
