Well, my day has been pretty topsy turvy. I was sat outside this place this morning at 10:40 waiting for the interview for this 6 month fixed position job, which wouldn't be ideal as I need something long term, but went to attend anyway. My phone rings. It's the agency that set me up for the job I got pipped at the post for. Someone internally has decided to hand their notice in, and the company immediately rang the agent to see if i was still available, so I've taken it there and then. I start in 2 weeks. That is unbelievable luck and I still can't quite believe it. Fuckin'ey Quads!

What did the NHS make of it?

What did the NHS make of it? I'm still to have a call (today) with my supervisor. He's been quite understanding with my concerns so it should be ok. I'm only contracting there anyway.

Ah gotcha. Much easier if you're just contracting

That is unbelievable luck and I still can't quite believe it. I was catching up with this thread for the first time in ages yesterday. When you posted you were pipped at the post, I did think to myself "Hold on a bit. You don't know if their preferred candidate will actually agree to their proposal or actually sign the contract (could be another offer on the table) or will stay on if he/she does start." Sometimes people start a new job and then fuck off within weeks for a different/better offer. It's a long shot but you never know. This versoin also works. Good news mate!

Yeah my mate said the same as you. I thought it'd be the person that got it that had left too, but apparently it was someone else internally. But like you say, still works!

It's extremely rare in my experience but I'll happily take it It's like accidentally 1 shotting a boss - "well, that was lucky"

So a guy got a promotion at work today, well deserved, no issue with that. But now for the rest of the day my concentration is going to be interrupted every few minutes by an Outlook ping from someone replying all to the email announcement to say 'Congratulations! Well deserved!'. And because we're an international company it's going to continue for the whole day as people from different timezones join in.
I really don't get the need to reply to everyone for things like this.

Doesn't seem to be an option on Mac Outlook as far as I can see

I'm confused. Is everyone just replying to all? Why do people do this for innocuous emails that don't require me to see everyone's bloody thoughts on a matter or most mind numbingly all replying yes to something.
