You any good with a soapy sponge? Sadly not as I have a dodgy shoulder which also rules me out of wanking old men for money too.

Funnily enough, I've fucked my rotator cuff as it happens. Love getting old.

I am quite sick of my job being made more difficult because some mad bastard decided to have yet another thoroughly illogical whim.
Today, instead of doing what I normally do on a Thursday, where I do a set of tasks quickly and efficiently because I've done them so frequently I could do it blindfolded and from muscle memory, the boss has decided that I should do something else entirely, that is usually nothing to do with me whatsoever and will have me consulting plans every two minutes to know where the fuck anything is.
He could have assigned this to someone whose shift starts not long after mine, who is entirely familiar with it and could do the necessary in about a quarter of the time it will take me, but that person has also been assigned to do something outside their norm.
Meanwhile, what I usually do today has been given to a gobshyte 17 year old who got a job through nepotism and his superpowers from being bitten by a radioactive sloth, and I am 100% certain that I will have to spend an unreasonable amount of time tomorrow fixing the absolute balls he will make of the job.
Boss' justification for this?
"I was sick of seeing the same people doing the same things all the time."
They're our fucking JOBS, you mad cunt! If you want a bit of variety in your day to day life, buy some fucking Rowntrees Randoms and reach into the bag with your fucking eyes closed, while the rest of us get on with what needs fucking doing.

Wow, what a massive twat
Is this guy new or something?

I understand the logic behind mixing things up to give people experience in something new but if something is being done correctly and well then why change things for the sake of it? I almost imagine this is just something for a manager to put on their PDP for their annual meeting.

His reasoning of "just sick of seeing people doing the same thing" doesn't sound like a box ticking exercise though. More a twat.
Unless he's lying of course. Which he probably is.

Really sounds like they're lying. I would severely doubt most managers care about who is doing what as long as it's being done and done well enough so as not to cause them trouble and not get them in trouble. It really does scream of something to mention for their evaluation.

Kinda fucked myself over by mentioning Rowntrees Randoms now though, as that's all I'll be wanting for the rest of the day.

I’ve applied for my bosses job.
If nothing happens pretty quickly then I’ll apply for the external one too. This one I’ve been doing 90% of the work for anyway, he just takes the credit for it while doing other work that he shouldn’t be doing because it gets him noticed (it worked).
If they give it someone else I’m off.

So I got the email offering me the position in Taiwan for British Council, I have until Monday to give them a response. It's not really the position I wanted and it's a student profile I don't really want to teach especially as it's waaaay more younger children. I applied as it's a really good organisation and a positive is that it could lead to other areas of the organisation that I'm more interested in but I also applied just to hedge my bets. I'm not really enthused by the idea of having to uproot and move again and I'm aware of the fact that with its location I would see people back in the UK once a year max.
Not really sure what to do here. Any advice? Haven't heard back from the interviews I've had for jobs here in the UK.

Too many negatives in that post against the single positive, if that helps.

On the plus side, you'd only have to come back to the UK once a year.
British Council is a good organisation with loads of good roles in some interesting places. A year in this job, then jump to something else. Nothing is forever - a pain in the arse if it doesn't work out but you can always come back.

When the Chinese invade you'll have a front row seat, what's not to love?
Someone I worked with after graduation works for the BC now and she's been there 20+ years so it must be a pretty good organisation to work for I guess.

I guess the question is, can you hack it for how long it takes to get something else within the same organisation?

As someone who isn't jaded from living abroad it seems a no-brainer to me, but if you can't hack yet another year of it then you really shouldn't force yourself to do it.
It would be a shame to turn down the BC though as they do seem a great place to get a foot in the door.

I would be doing it straight away for the experience. You don't have to do it for life if you don't like it.

Honestly, is it worse than where you are at right now? Perhaps it'll be a great experience, but even if it isn't, it doesn't have to be forever.
You get to see a(nother?) pretty amazing part of the world and get to be involved with a pretty cool organisation and maybe it'll get your foot in and lead to somewhere you really want to be.
I'm not telling you to go, but sometimes, opportunities are what we make of them.

For reference I have lived and worked in Asia before.
If I was doing a pros and cons it would be:
+: Esteemed organisation. Possible development. It's a job. New country to live in.
-: Mental and physical energy of moving again. Could only visit friends and family once a year. Only 18hr contract for thr 1st year. Predominantly younger learners 8yrs old.

Didn't get that job I went for either. Got pipped at the post by someone who had slightly more electronics experience than me. Weird, but that's that. Massive pisser as it was a brilliant fit and location for me. They said I interviewed brilliantly and everything fit etc etc.
And now, after next week, I'm back on evenings and weekend work with the nhs.
To say I'm extremely gutted is an understatement

Sorry to hear that Quaddy. Got another rejection myself today so I am currently waiting to hear back on nothing. Also in a foul mood and have had all of my motivation crushed.
