Any issues with the night sequences from Episode 7 or even from GOT can be attributed to Sapochnik who directed the episodes. He has said he's no longer connected with the show moving forward, so my hope is that they'll find someone to get a better solution.

It seems filming at night is a better solution.
Up until the Long Night episode I don't remember any complaints about GOT being too dark too see?

Osferth! Ewan Mitchell was great in Last Kingdom so can’t wait to see what he does playing Aemond.

Paddy feels very miscast as the king or maybe it's just the character being so dithery. The whole thing feels like the BBC period drama writers and actors have got the keys the Game of Thrones set. Maybe I should rewatch GoT but this feels much weaker to me. Still, I'll keep watching in the hope it picks up. A few unexpected deaths should help. I've changed my mind! Latest episode was gold.

I fell Martin will use this show to hint at how D&D messed up the ending so much of GOT. And how is his ending coming along?

I get the sense that it keeps being mentioned here so as to let the audience know they haven't forgotten about it like D&D did. Which will be handy to let us know to get hyped for when the Jon Snow spinoff show comes out and will continue the story.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they use that to fix some things as well.

This series goes from strength to strength. I found episode nine completely riveting. I know it's ridiculous from the point of view of story / plotting, but I really wanted Meleys to just burn them all to fuck in the final moments. In the end, it was possibly even more satisfying that Rhaenys just made them all cower with a threat and then casually flew off.

It was an incredible payoff. Some really top notch acting and writing in these last few episodes.

I loved that episode. This season really has improved with each passing episode. I was in the middle of writing a post about being a bit confused by the final moments, until I realised which dragon she was riding . Damn good power move from her.

Ignore me, I thought it was the dragon that the younger Aemond had taken from them. Double checked, and it was just Rhaenys's dragon Which leaves me back to being confused as to why she didn't just burn them all down or just fled. All she really achieved was killing a bunch of citizens and announcing her escape, which they would have found out anyway. Either way seems to lead to the same result of them marking her as treasonous. It was kind of cool, but seemed to be a bit flashy for the sake of being flashy

Regicide is a big deal in GoT lore and a big stain on a house (like Jaime Lannister), and Rhaenys is all about bargaining for peace instead of all out war.
Plus, plot armor. No dance of dragons if no-one’s around to ride them.

To me it was a good final check at the end of the episode. The Greens got their way the whole time, even coronating a new king and then at the end a big dragon shaped problem literally bursts to their attention to remind them that there's consequences to their actions. It's easy for us as viewers to say she should have burned them all there and then, but Rhaenys would have been guilty of regicide and kinslaying, both serious crimes that would do her or Rhaenyra any favors in terms of winning over the population (not that killing a hundred or so common folk in the process with her arrival helps matters either). Her showing up, in armor, is essentially a declaration of war.

Yeah the Alt Shift X guy put it well. 1. She doesn’t know where this is headed and peace may still be possible 2. Mass murder really isn’t for everyone and she’s principled / not a kinslayer 3. Not killing them sent a powerful message
Notably also the armour is not necessarily a message but just a sensible precaution, as many pointed out in the past that Danyris riding in her nightie was basically ludicrous with arrows flying about.
The Hightowers had already effectively declared war and killed and imprisoned numerous lords and people at this point.

They make a big deal about only being able to ride the dragon you’ve bonded with, but it’s not beyond these shows to just throw shit out willy nilly when it suits them. Apparently a lot of deviations from the source material in this episode, but the better for it.

Currently watching the latest episode. Rhys Ifans literally went from telling his brother he was enjoying pizza and peppermint schnapps in Little Nicky to being caught by his daughter rolling a joint in this.
#1, this is a 2022 ass show, #2, salute to him living the gimmick.

Surely the Valayrion + Targaryen partnership would be too much for the Greens to take. How many dragon riders do they have on the green side? 2 or 3, who are still pretty young albeit not really been shown how accomplished they are at dragon riding.
Sure they have the army, but not going to do much against several dragons unless they're as dumb as Daenerys. And they have the ships.
Peace surely their best option

The Greens will also have other allies on their side which believe that Aegon should be rightful king under the traditional laws of succession. And those that don't know the internal politics and genuinely believe Viserys named Aegon the rightful heir. Vhagar is also the largest dragon that can do some damage.
Rhaenyra does have other dragons and the largest fleet, so neither side really wants to escalate.

So a very old man makes a very big scene of embarrassing every one who thought the succession wasn't settled, including a death. And mere hours later it's all torn up with only one witness, and everyone thinks that's ok?
Burn them all.

That was a bloody good episode. This series really is just getting better and better as it goes along. One more left. I'm going to miss it. More than I can say for a certain other fantasy show...
