Yep they had the entire scene of her father telling her that he kids will be killed if she sits back and does nothing.

As a book wanker I was waiting for that moment to be shown and it didn't disappoint. This show's awesome.

I'm guessing this will only be 2 or 3 seasons then onto the next spin off (D&E tales please)

Great episode. Kinda missed the younger cast episode before, but the new cast were great in this episode.
As a non book wanker, how many seasons can they even get out of this? I am guessing only 2, 3 max. But will they tack their own stuff on like GoT?

People certainly like to hold a grudge in this don’t they? All the current issues seem to stem from Sir Crispin The Proto-Incel still raging at women for spurning him 10 years ago, and the queen still being upset a decade later that her friend lied about having sex.

Yeah that did stick out a bit for me too. I assume we are to believe things got worse during the time jump?

Really dark episode - I couldn't see barely anything for half of it.

Half decent episode for me. The CGI dragon stuff is crap. Overall I really want to love this but it's just so clunky. In GoT there was loads of politics and that also tied into the overarching impending threat. This seems to have none of that. It's all so limp and there's no subtlety.

Really dark episode - I couldn't see barely anything for half of it. I had the same during much of the funeral. Second half wasn't too bad though. Same goes for how enjoyable it was. The opening half was a bit slow and not much happened, but it picked up more in the second half. I think LordOfTheDunce says it well though, it definitely lacks some of the subtleties that early GoT had. Motivations are pretty clear and things are generally spelt out. I think it holds up fairly comparable to later GoT and certainly better than the last couple seasons, although not as good as the first couple of seasons. Definitely enjoying it though.

Really dark episode - I couldn't see barely anything for half of it. Yep and it was obviously shot in daytime and a filter applied, which meant it didn't need to be that dark. Pretty good episode though.
However the little shit holding on to that dragon was terrible. Delighted he lost an eye.

Yeah I remember seeing pics of them film that scene during a sunny day in Cornwall. Just... film it in the evening unless they couldn't get permission?

Did notice when Otto was taking Aegon away that people had shadows, so definitely one of those scenes filmed day to night. Some of that stuff was a bit shoddy, but with the director/showrunner leaving after this season I would imagine that will be the end of those types of scenes.
I'd say 2-3 seasons for this particular storyline. Fire and Blood goes on longer than this though, they could in essence go right all the way up to the Mad King if they wished.

Absolutely cracking episode there. One of the best so far. A lot of what puts some folk off - its pace, its narrow focus, the lack of expansive action - is what I love about it and that was fully realised in this episode. And there was a hell of a water cooler moment. Also, I'm going to miss King Viserys, the stupidly good-hearted necrotic bastard. Paddy Considine was brilliant in the role.

I think those complaining about narrow scope of the show really just want more of, if not the exact same thing as GOT. But the history is set in place already and any of the other families looking to make a move for the Iron Throne would just get shut down right away given the Targaryens have the equivalent of weapons of mass destruction that nobody else has. I do appreciate the slower pace, the show is fantastic so far, if you're a GOT fan I don't know how you couldn't be happy with it.
I know others complain that there's no clearly good person to root for in all this, but GRRM's writing has never been a straight forward good vs evil, something the later seasons got wrong.

Just to say, as I brought up the narrow focus earlier, I felt the jury was still out as to whether it was a good thing or not. It also felt a bit odd early on as we were hearing reference to families like the Martells, but never seeing them.
Personally don't have too much of a problem with it, it just stood out as a very different approach. The more the season is continuing the more I feel it is working well with that approach.
Also, agree on Paddy Considine. He is fantastic in whatever he does and hasn't had the recognition that he deserves for a very long time.
Good episode again, with it once more having a bit of a slow start, but a really good second half. Everything from the throne room scene onwards was brilliant.
Also, loving the crazy eye from Aemond. He is working with just one, but still managing to channel some serious Gowren energy with it.

Even though the outcome has already been revealed in the teasers I’m still expecting next episode to have another decade time jump and find Paddy still doddering about looking even more haggard.

Paddy nailed it and still managed to look a bit badass entering the throne room.
Actually think the 6 year jump hurt the start of the episode more than any of the other jumps.

Can anyone update me on what exactly happened in the last 10 mins or so? A combination of my shit memory and the mumbled dialogue means I'm not quite sure as to the significance of either of the two women (although was one not Daemon's bit on the side from a while back?), nor exactly what was said between the king and queen in the final scene.
Brilliant episode though. I'm particularly enjoying how much a couple of antagonistic fuckers Aegon and Aemond are shaping up to be.

King Paddy One Eye squared things up at dinner as best as possible with his daughter Rhaenyra queued up to be Queen. Kings wife Alicent accepted the decision and buried the hatchet with Rhaenyra.
When they were in bed Paddy was a little confused, thought he was talking to his daughter and started talking about the Prophecy of Fire and Ice and the Prince who was promised. That prophecy came from his ancestor Aegon but Queenie misunderstood his mumbling about bloodlines and Aegon to mean he was talking about their son Aegon and that he must be king.
This misunderstanding will likely result in some bloodshed and hurt feelings.

Ahhhh right. So he thought Alicent was his daughter at that point... I couldn't work that out in my stupid head. Hence why the camera then focused on the dagger. Shame, just when I thought things were going to be all nice and rosy from here on.

Basically, Jon Snow is still fucking things up without even being in the show.

I feel Martin will use this show to hint at how D&D messed up the ending so much of GOT.

Mysaria is Daemon's former paramour, the one she was speaking to was Alicent's servants, the one that brought her the tea earlier in the episode. Mysaria just has an ear inside the castle, for what purpose we don't know.

The servant girl who got raped, did she get killed off? No George RR Martin has said the show will need 4 seasons.
