Better 2nd episode really starting to enjoy this.
Rhaenyra looks like Gareth Bale in a wig, but still.

Think the upcoming time jumps and actor swaps are really going to confuse some. Oh dear, I remember how many forumites struggled with The Witcher S1. That gif with the confused woman and all the equations comes to mind.

Enjoyed that episode a lot more than the first. Still not a fan of the casting for the king and Daemon though.
But I'm definitely looking forward to the rest of the series more now.

I think the casting is working exactly as intended.

That's a good point. Though it's been two episodes and there are no characters I like/am rooting for. I know it's early days but if Dragonpox or whatever wiped out all the characters I would be fairly pleased.
Well except for Graham McTavishs character, and Otto Hightower.

Think this episode could have spent a little less time watching the King drink and a bit more on the war.

I have this thing where I always associate an actor most strongly with the first thing I saw them in, regardless of if it's their most famous or long lived role or not, so every time I see Graham McTavish on screen in House Of The Dragon, I can't help but think "Mr. Ackerman from Red Dwarf VIII is wearing a suit of armour"

Think this episode could have spent a little less time watching the King drink and a bit more on the war. I was actually writhing the whole time in excruciating suspense over who would die at the hunt party. The war was not interesting at all.

3rd episode reminded me of a Rambo movie. That was pretty stupid. I see what the writers wanted to do, but they could have come up with something better

So far this feels like they've wheeled out the GoT B-Team. Nobody really stands out. They're all quite nicey nicey for Westeros, even when they are plotting. I suppose it highlights the relative stability of the times, compared to after Robert Baratheon's death.
I'm enjoying it but its just ok.
The War was more Leroy Jenkins than Rambo. I was willing those archers to hit him.

The first episode is available on YouTube: though it seems to be at NowTV potato quality.

I've been loving this personally. I'm a book wanker so I know what's ahead. People think it's slow but I do like it and they've done a good job building in these characters when the book does not as its just a recounting of the events like a history book. Daemons last stand was a little mad, realistically should have been injured or killed but was really just more of a character moment for him. The war there was just a paragraph or two in the book, so not surprised to see it given short shrift here. Given that Jon was able to survive an arrow volley unscathed and be right in the middle of TWO cavalry chargers front and behind him in the Battle of the Bastards, then Daemons is fine by comparison

The Episode 3 dragon at the end was bloody terrible. Just someone on a bucking bronco ride with a dash of rear projection.
Other than that, yay.

Think the upcoming time jumps and actor swaps are really going to confuse some. Oh dear, I remember how many forumites struggled with The Witcher S1. That gif with the confused woman and all the equations comes to mind. The problem with them in the Witcher was that they weren't marked in any way, no year timestamps or anything. That and everyone, including the human characters, looked the same decades later. Yeah people were confused, but it wouldn't have taken much effort to fix that! Anyway, this is moving along nicely. I think I'm having more fun with the LotR TV show though.

I enjoyed that episode, but also, nothing really happened in it. It was weird and uncomfortable though, and ended on an unexpected cup-of-tea dilemma. Who could have predicted you’d get a cliffhanger out of a cup of tea?

I think that episode is on a level with peak GOT. Engaging and gripping through dialogue without the need for huge battles.

I'm enjoying it, but it's certainly well below the level of GoT so far. Where GoT had about 20 brilliant characters, HotD currently has a couple of half-decent ones. Rhaenyra is enjoyable and Daemon vaguely interesting, but beyond them, it's a bit hard to care. I'm ok with a slow build provided that's actually what they are attempting. Very few surprises, nor moments of levity thus far, but perhaps the payoff for patience will come in time.

Quick question. Is there an equivalent of thronecast with sue perkins for this. Saw enter the house of the dragon before episode one but nothing since?

That was a very good episode. I'm enjoying it a lot - it's a very different pace to GoT and it took me a while to warm to everyone but I think it's bedded in enough now.
And seven hells, this is a good looking show in 4K. Simply stunning.

This show is giving me too much anxiety. Was climbing the walls during that whole hunting episode, the plot twist was nothing happened. This wedding feast thing was just fucked though, cutting between ten glowering / scheming characters. I think I just want to see people having a nice time and getting along. I did at least predict who was going to snap and who they’d attack, not that it took a genius. Gay Joffrey was an arrogant idiot! Slapping Cole’s arse was just the icing on the death sentence. This show is better-written than the later seasons of GoT, but the characters tend to be woefully stupid all the time.

The King's guards suck considering a guys face was punched in before they got to them. Feel the shows really found its groove over the last 3 episodes.
