That's mainly why I hacked my 3DS, so I could play whatever I wanted. It's a bonus I have the IPS screen.

I'm not normally one for remakes / remasters but I'll make an exception for Charles and the Revolution team, because Broken Sword is a god damn masterpiece and one of my favourite games of all time (despite having only completed it in recent years...). Plus I love how it's looking, the dynamic lighting and 4k looks glorious. They've annoounced a kickstarter if you like your collectable stuff, I'm tempted by the £100 level just for the George figurine to stand on my desk... www.kickstarter.com/projects/revolution-software/broken-sword-reforged-collectors-edition
Nice. 620k funding I'll buy it when it's released as I missed that kick-starter. Did support bs5 back in the day. Hopefully it pays off the development of the remaster game plus sales, will mean we will get bs6. Such a lovely series.

So... Majora's Mask and PC are now two words that go together. Wink, wink.

Hello!
Just curious as to whether anyone is using the lime emulator over Citra and what differences they've found between the two.
I currently have Citra and apart from graphical glitches on Pilotwings everything seems to work well.
For reference using an Odin 2 Pro, really can't recommend it enough if it is your thing. Got me loving gaming again.

If it’s based on Citra you’d have to assume it’s the better option as it will be supported I never play any 3DS via emulation though so what do I know?

I don't replay games often but Broken Sword is one of the few I play about once a year

Been on a Metroidvania kick lately. I've beaten Metroid Fusion, Zero Mission and Castlevania Aria of Sorrow in the space of a few weeks. I've always been a bit "meh" on the GBA in general, and was only dimly aware of its Metroidvania offerings. I just had no idea they were this good, all three are genuinely amongst the best in their series and are far from the poor mans portable versions that I'd assumed they were. Been having a blast playing them on the big screen with my Game Boy Player.

Changing the subject entirely. Can anyone recommend any good digital novel games? I see Broken Sword up there but I've never fully got on with it.
My particular vibe is more Snatcher and Policenauts

I've never tried Tex Murphy: The Pandora Directive. Supposed to be quite revolutionary for the time in terms of decisions.

It's a great game. Genuinely tense and the fact it is random every time makes it all the better.

Same. Won't happen but would love for someone to pick up the canned sequel after this.

Gentlemen, I need advice. I might be interested in a cheap portable device to play emulators (SNES, Megadrive, but perhaps even PS1 if possible?) on the go. What are the best options on the market in that regard? Price/quality ratio and all that.
Something as large as the old PSP would be fine. Nothing as big as a Steam Deck hopefully. Even Switch-sized would be a tad too large imo.

Phone too small? Can't you get controller adapter things for them

Phone too small? Can't you get controller adapter things for them Well I could, but maybe I would rather get something that you can immediately play without faffing about too much. Though I'm not opposed to custom firmwares if they make the experience significantly better. Also I guess a dedicated device would be interesting to have, for once. I had thought about modding my old PSP but the screen is pretty horrendous by modern standards. I've seen the Anbernic RG28XX which looks seriously mini and gives me GBA Micro vibes, without being quite as small. I'm tempted. The RG35XX H looks a bit more playable though... Less than you think I guess up to 80 euro with all expenses included? I know, it's not much at all, but it's more of a novelty thing since I don't expect to use it all the time or anything. The expensive stuff is out of the question.

Why not a Vita? I hacked mine and I’ve got PSP, Vita, PS1 games. It’s pretty decent. There’s also a store where you can download everything that was released on the Vita.

For your budget, and those consoles, I'd say research the Trimui Smart Pro - specifically with the Crossmix firmware upgrade. (Aliexpress has it for about £40).

He really does his research and is very fair in his reviews, great source of info

On a plus side if the novelty wears off it should retain its value. Personally I am against any e-waste chinese knockoff device due to their low quality controll and huge rom dumps. Choice paralysis is a real thing and none of them retain any value. A modded psp would be a option if you did not mind the dpad.

I must admit that I also have my reservations about build quality. I keep reading about clicky buttons and floaty d-pads. Not to mention, most of those things don't look very comfortable to hold for long sessions.
But a second-hand 2DS or especially New 2DS would be much more expensive (for some reason they are not cheap here), and the PSP's screen really belongs in a museum.
I'll research into it more, and see what are my best options. Maybe a mobile Bluetooth controller and phone holder really is the easiest approach.

I would go for the phone option in your case. 2ds xl modded goes for 110 euro here so I assumed it was cheap in the UK.
