Anyone here with rgh 3 xbox 360 experience? Bought one second handed and it keeps freezing in games after 5 min.

I use it to play my region locked japanese games.

So I've been playing the Saturn version of SOTN, because a recent translation + enhancements patch is getting touted as the definitive way to play the game. Frankly I'm not so sure. The loading times for areas and for menus are still quite a lot longer than the XBLA version, and the missing graphical effects are quite noticeable at times.

That said, it's a pretty fun game still. Guess I'll finish it again, and maybe attempt a Maria run.

Or alternately, hold on till the Megadrive homebrew version of Symphony of the Night version is done. The loading times problem is solved. The missing graphical effects problem not so much... On the Megadrive, enemy counts also take a massive hit over the original version.

The demo version is already out there.

Had an Anberic RG35XX for a couple of months and just loved the nostalgia, all those logos man- Infogrames, Psygnosis etc.
Now I've ordered a Retroid Pocket 4+ so I can play more PS1, 2 and maybe even Wii stuff. So damn neat to have all those games in your hands.

Has anyone hacked their Vita and played games for trophies? I've been playing offline, as I assumed Sony would check I've hacked it, but from reading Reddit, Sony doesn't seem to care.

Let me know what you think. I have the Odin 2 pro and it's great for those platforms.

I wonder why it's so much easier to play old games for score. I mean, of course that's the point, but... in modern games, even those where there's a score counter (think about all those games from the 360 era with leaderboards), I just don't feel the same about it. I just want to finish them.

I'm vaguely interested in the Atari 400 Mini just because of that. I'll have to wait for the titles list. In the meantime, I'll dig into Altirra.

Road Rash on PS1 with the Soundgarden soundtrack won't be beaten for me. That was immense.

I have been playing around more with the Retrotink 4K, its a incredible device even at its steep costs. I also have tried upscaling 720p content and depending on the game it is very noticeable. Eternal Sonata on the PS3 with forced HDR/Derp Colours and subtle scanlines really does look like a PS4-Pro remaster of sorts. 1080p upscaling looks marginly better then what your TV does if its a cheaper or non Sony model. The HDR can be a gamechanger for some PS3 games (Tales of games, Puppeteer, Eternal Sonata). Because of a inbuild gamma autocorrect it does not crush blacks like the 5x pro does.

I still think the main reason to own one, is for upscaling SNES/PS1/Saturn to perfection and usage of CRT filters. If you have a decent CRT, PS2 and gamecube on the tink get very close at 480i. It does make me interested in using my old Wii again with deflicker filter and correct aspect ratio.

I do think that for the vast majority a 5xpro is more then enough. If people here have any interest I can try and post some foto's of multiple consoles and what it looks like?

I'm intrigued at what the LCD filters at 720p looks like, if you can capture that?

Also I know that you won't be able to show it, but what kind of control do you have for BFI? Can you use HDR injection to re-brighten it and if you do, can you still appreciate the improved motion clarity?

I like BFI on my OLED and can really see the difference in clarity on scrolling graphics, but I just can't bring myself to sacrifice the brightness.

I have not yet attempted to use BFI, from what I read on 4k discord, it only works great with HDR and 120hz (some even attempt 240hz for improved motion). The tink cannot do 4k 120hz, so you need to drop to 1440p to enable both on the device itself. The workaround is using my LGC1 for BFI, allowing me to output 120hz 4k.

I can capture the HDR/BFI on camera, the LCD or other filters are difficult to capture but will try and upload some pictures. For BFI video I would need to upload to my youtube account.

I'm visiting Japan for the first time next month and am quite tempted to pick up a Japanese Dreamcast.

How easy is it to mod so that I can play all regions? I'd rather not spend anything on modding the machine but think I read you can get a disc that allows you to boot up any game.

Anyone done this before?

I used an import enabler disc called DC-X. It worked fine with Japanese imports on my PAL DC but couldn't force a non-VGA game to work via VGA IIRC.

That may have been more of a hope on my part rather than an advertised feature.

I also tried a magazine cover disc which demoed some cheats (possibly a Blaze disc) that also allowed my Japanese games to work. I only had 7 or 8 though.

Edit: It was a Blaze Xploder cheat demo disc.
