Never really got into Carmageddon. I remember a friend had it, and he'd be all excited about playing something he shouldn't.. same for Postal and Hexen. I haven't spoken to him in years. I bet he's in prison.

Ha, well there was an element of that. I don't know if it was just me, but at the time it came out the proto-open world nature of Carmaggeddon absolutely blew my mind. I remember just driving around, doing jumps and exploring. This was at a time when "you're not stuck to the ground", "you could even go backwards if you wanted to" were genuine selling points for driving games so it was quite the leap

I miss car combat games - had a ton of fun back in the day with Twisted Metal and Vigilante 8.

Carmageddon ran like shit on my P100. There was some novelty to running over pedestrians back then, GTA did it too.

Yeah running over pedestrians is always enjoyable. I always wanted to figure how what racing game I played on my brothers Amiga, where you could run over the pit crew.

Carmageddon was awesome. The gore was fun, but I kept coming back for the fantastic track/world design and, most of all, the physics. Smashing the shit out of other cars and watching them deform was so good. I always expected that crash damage and deformation would be standard in racing games today, more fool me...

Demolition Derby was my fave. Loved the soundtrack! Was one of those where the music was playable like a CD.

DD2 was even better. Great track design for that type of game. I still think Black Sail Valley is one of the coolest tracks in a game.

Demolition Derby was so much fun. especially driving head long into the centre and going flying up into the air
Wreckfest is OK but it doesn't have any of the personality that DD had. The silly characters and commentary really added to it
Carmageddon, Quarantine, Interstate 76 - there were quite a few for a while. Just one of those genres that seems to have fallen out of fashion for some reason

Finally got round to hacking the Vita, which was an easy process. As much as I've enjoyed playing PSP titles.. on my PSP, I didn't want to amass a huge collection of UMDs for titles, that I may play once, or twice. I did get one last physical title for the PSP, and that was Outrun 2006. What a game!

I loved Carmageddon 2. I bought it at Xmas in 1998 at the same time as my parents let 13-year-old me buy my own PC using my savings. P2 350 with a Riva TNT. Anyway, the deformation in Carma 2 was amazing – it was incredibly satisfying splitting an opponent in half by ramming them into the corner of a wall or a lamp post. I genuinely don't think a game's come close to that satisfying 'clink' when the car doesn't smash but splits nearly in half.

Finally acquired a vintage Gateway 2000 15" Vivitron to complete my Pentium 75 machine... everything here is authentic to a mid-90s Gateway 2000, even the Altec Lansing speakers, and is pretty much what I had back in 95 apart from mine had a 486 DX2-66 inside, not a P75! There is something completely magical about gaming on a CRT, you just can not beat it
It's beautiful! Carma 2 was amazing. I remember the city map was very big. Scared to actually check cause I presume it's really small by modern comparisons. But back then. So big!

Recently bought phantasy Star 2/ Wild Arms XF and Brave Traveler News story. I actually think UMD's have gone down in price with some exceptions. I still have no intention of increasing my PSP libary back to 40-50 games and intend to keep it at 25. I actually would like a hacked PSP, maybe if I got one I will sell off another 5-10 games.

Yeah they are really cheap. My main issue with the PSP is finding a decent battery. I've been through a fair few, and they either don't hold charge, or expand. I think the Vita is probably the best option for hacked PSP games.

I just realized there's no version of Frogger whatsoever on Steam. That's kind of a bummer.

I think replacement batteries from third parties can be really crappy. I mean I still use my original battery but it only seems to last 3 to 4 hours these days. My GBA is on its 4th replacement so I know the feeling where it seems you cant get one to last.

Anyone have an Analouge Pocket? Worth the price?
Tempted to get one and a dock to play on the TV but seems expensive all together.

It's a nice bit of kit and the various filters for the screen are great. Actually in two minds whether to sell mine as I have an Odin 2 arriving in the next couple of months.

Retrotink 4K early December, $750 Missed this batch, getting a 5x first now that it can toggle on hdr. 120hz BFI on the 4k looks amazing for 2d platformers though. I think I will wait 2 years to get the 4k now since I cannot be bothered to wait and miss out again.

Decided to bring a bit of retro into the living room to play some old snes games. Can't find the proper av leads or power leads for my hardware snes's, so thought it'd be easier to just hack the mini snes. Got some controller extension leads and I'm happy to say me and a mate had a right laugh the other night attempting chaos engine (or rather the soldiers of fortune us rom as the mini snes runs at 60hz anyway), after a few pints. There were a lot of deaths. It feels cozier in the living room as opposed to a massive telly in a film room type of thing. photos.app.goo.gl/a6Pqc95sJrGZ5Vio6

I don’t think that first batch has been made available yet, it’s just showing out of stock for now.
