Maybe that dude will finally see Ethan Hunt very upset. HA I GOT THAT REFERENCE. My adrenalines are totally STOKED for this. I totally didn't drive ALL THE WAY to the PEAK DISTRICT to maybe (didn't) CATCH A GLIMPSE of the TRAIN STUNT and I DIDN'T get to see the CRUISER. This will be amazing, you're all dead inside. Like, full of locked engrams. The only thing I got to see by random accident was Birmingham New Street station remodeled to be the inside of Dubai Airport which was weird.

Is it weird that I have no idea if I've watched the last 2 Mission Impossible movies or not? I saw the one in Dubai. Was that the one with Hawkeye?
TG: Maverick gets 5 stars from BBC culture, and is apparently better than the original. That might be pushing it, but it's rather surprising and impressive that it's not disappointing and shit. The trailer in the cinema looked rather predictable in terms of plot. It was nice to see proper planes in a lot of the action shots, although there were a few points where things suddenly looked a lot more cgi.

I wonder if I will be able to remember the plot of this one? Here, I'll help (spoilers for the plot of every M:I movie follow) -There are bad people that want a thing -Hunt and crew are sent to retrieve the thing. "Watch out for the mole!" says the person who is most definitely not the mole -They succeed in getting the thing, but a SHOCK BETRAYAL from someone results in, say, Benji getting kidnapped -The crew now cannot trust anyone and have to do everything on their own, with maybe some secretive help from the handler who you thought was a dick but was actually kind of ok Xenu is behind it all

Just trying to be helpful.
Scientology. A captive and insular community that creates an artificial need to belong and adhere to group think.
That you can expose to badly written shite, aggressive marketing and very dodgy historical perspectives.
But meh, they gave us TC.

Action films having a fairly simple, and similar, plot seems to be a surprise to some.

Action films having a fairly simple, and similar, plot seems to be a surprise to some. Name a classic action film and I suspect most of the forum could not only give you the entire plot but quote most of the script to you. Theres just something about these movies that is uniquely forgettable. Like they wipe themselves from your mind the minute youve watched them.

Unless you mean classic action films from the 80s which I’m pretty sure scriptwriters were just aiming to be quotable and silly enough that people would keep quoting them.

The last two, yeah. I reckon I could at least give a decent wiki-lite synopsis of both and probably quote a ton of Independence Day dialogue. Never watched F&F past the first one.

Fast and Furious 2: Paul Walker and Tyrese Gibson drive very fast and furiously in Miami. Oh and Ludacris makes his debut. Oh and Eva Mendes agreed to star in this movie. Independence Day: Cable repair guy Jeff Goldblum finds out aliens are going to invade the Earth. Bill Pullman makes a jingoistic speech. Will Smith says "WOOOH!" a lot. A camp guy says he needs to call his mother. They defeat the aliens with a Mac laptop and a computer virus. Oh and the rest of the world are ineffectual without the leadership of America. Bourne Identity: Man with no memory is rescued. Meets German lady. Drives a Mini to the music of William Orbit. Does not find his identity. Fin.

I reckon the plot of that crappy Chris Pine movie I watched last week will stick with me longer than the any of the MI movies.

Compared to most other recent action films these aren’t any worse in terms of plot, just far better action than most of them. I don’t expect the plot to do any more than a half decent bit of interest while watching.
All the Bonds are probably closest to these and most of those have nothing memorable/they merge into one with minor things to differentiate them.

Im not saying they are bad. I enjoy them when I watch them. Just that I cannot identify the individual plots in any of them other than maybe the first two. There is something just uniquely forgettable about them. Its really weird.

MI2, despite being the worst, I’d probably say has the most distinctive plot. MI1 isn’t too far behind.
After that their plots are all reasonably similar with different action.

MI2 is the most distinctive one generally. Hollywood did John Woo dirty.

It’s strange John Woo disappearing from Hollywood, he only had one flop after a string of (financial) successes and then vanished back to Hong Kong.
