I watched it three times to see how shit that bit with them all running across a log at the beginning looked.

Hmm, not many in the Zavvi list that I'm interested in unfortunately. A couple that I already own digitally but to upgrade,it's got to be a visual spectacle, and can't see many of those.

Hah I thought this buzz was about an Avatar/airbender film.
Had completely forgotten about the blue aliens.

It'll be just like the first one, hugely successful and totally rubbish.

The Avatar trailer is being shown at cinemas now. I was entirely nonplussed by it. Lacking in whelms. But whatever, it's JC and it looks ok, I'll definitely watch it.

Seems to have taken the same trajectory as other words such as "literally", where the meaning has become bastardised to mean the complete opposite of it's original meaning.

Which begs the question; how does that happen?

The traditional meaning of nonplussed works for me when talking about Avatar. Genuinely baffles me as to why anyone has any interest in continuing it beyond the first film. It wasn't even that the first film was bad; it was probably the most mediocre thing I've ever watched.
Then again, I find Cameron's output all pretty overrated, with the exception of the original The Terminator.

Anyway, I too am a bit amazed that people still give a shit about Avatar, given how completely it seemed to disappear from the culture for the last decade or so. I guess all those people who got depressed about Pandora not being real are hankering for more.
But that's fine, people like things different to me, it is good that people like things. Go with god, I say! And JC.

They are re-releasing Avatar in cinemas in September.
Just read they they’re doing a Spinal Tap 2. Everyone’s back on board.

Yeah, the Avatar re-release is getting a new 4K transfer finally too. I still like the movie, it’s my gf’s favourite film, and we’ll end up going to see both this year. I’m quite looking forward to the sequel. Not expecting much in terms of plot but I’m keen to see the new visuals.

The original stands just fine on its' own thankyou, we don't need any 40th anniversary sequels around here, Rob Reiner.

My bold prediction is that it will just do 'ok'. "The teaser for Avatar: The Way of Water finished its first 24-hour online window with 148.6 million views, according to Disney. This beats all recent StarWars films, and puts it second overall for most views within the first day of launch". From THR. $2 Billion+...easy! I've still not seen the trailer. Off to see Dr. Strange 2 win 3D IMAX tomorrow so will get the full "experience" then. Saw the avatar trailer before Dr Strange, though not in 3d or Imax. It looked.. like Avatar. Pretty cgi worlds and stuff, but nothing in the trailer looked particularly mind-blowing. The trailer doesn't really have any plot or dialogue, so it's a bit like watching a trailer for a BBC Nature Documentary. I can't say it got me particularly excited about the movie. Infact, I'd already forgotten about the trailer so much that when I saw "Avatar: The Way of Water" I assumed it was a Last Airbender spinoff.

They are re-releasing Avatar in cinemas in September. I'm not against this though. It's the kind of film my kids might enjoy. I wonder if its success was because it's kinda the Ed Sheeran of movies. Reasonably well done, nothing objectionable, can be enjoyed by both your daughter and your mum. Frankly though, I wish they'd re-release a lot of movies in the theater, just so I could take my kids to see them. And a lot of them would be higher on my list than Avatar. (All the Harry Potter, Star Wars and MCU movies starting from the beginning, for a start)
