After that the quality dip gets more and more pronounced after each season. Culminating in one of the worst final seasons and finale episode ever.

The quality does drop off but I can't say much else without getting spoilery!

Just finished watching The Blacklist SE5. I had stopped watching the show a long time ago and then decided to catch up. But didn't remember where I stopped. Just now finished the final episode of SE5 and annoyingly, I remembered snippets of each episode, up until the penultimate episode. Watching them all twice didn't make the show any better. I don't even know why I watched each episode. I am groaning at each one. And will now watch SE6. Because I am an idiot!

Second season of Rick and Morty done - it's still excellent, but a bit uneven compared to the first.

Let's play some catchup:
The Nevers (first half-season). Love this show. Very Joss Whedon. Main 2 characters rock. Basically Penny Dreadful meets Victorian X-Men meets Firefly. 18/20 Misogynist Robber Barons Mary + Jane (season 1 and only) Kinda fun and kinda funny stoner comedy. Mainly watched because it had the main actress from Happy Death Day. MTV have a drama dept? Who knew! 7/11 MJs. (though now I wonder whether Peter Parker's obsession with MJ was alluding to something else?)
Sweet/Vicious (season 1 and only) I didn't know I was looking for a show about teen ninja vigilantes taking down college rapists, maybe because it didn't seem like an obvious subject for a comedy drama! I suspect it's the kind of drama that would deeply enrage a large part of the internets... which probably makes me like it more than I probably should. 4/5 Morally questionable revenge attack quips
PS/ I have just realized that all of these involve a pair of female protagonists... maybe I have a type? And I didn't even mention Dead To Me or Teenage Bounty Hunters.

The Orville season 1 (Disney+)
Bounced off this hard first time around because the humour felt like it jarred in the pilot but after that first pilot episode the TNG dna is so strong with this its just the 90s Star Trek tribute for me. Brannon Braga, Jonathan Frakes and Tom Parris all direct episodes, the EMH guest stars in one but the original characters and plots nail it too.
The biggest thing is that the traditional warmth and relationships and familiarity which Trek crews always had is here within two or three episodes where Discovery hasn’t landed it in three seasons and Picard couldn’t do it with the actual TNG cast.
Super easy watch, proper TNG plots, the occasional genuine laugh. A total treat. I’m a convert.

It also has one of the crappest endings of any good show ever. I'm actually glad it's coming back

The prime directive episode or do you mean end of season 2?
I’m glad there’s going to be more because I’ll do s2 in the next day or two.

I was actually talking about Dexter. I somehow managed to stupidly reply to an old page. Me is moron. On the subject I saw wo eps of The orville and it was..okay. Very much TNG fan fic with a budget. Certainly better than any coke stained Kurtzman Trek.

Brooklyn 99 - Final Season - 6/10
Thoight it was quite weak overall, but the final two episodes were good and got me in the feels. Worth a watch, but it was a bit flat imo.

The Orville season 2 (Disney+)
As with the first season we get a couple of jokey ones near the start before launching into real Star Trek territory. Moreso than the first this season drops a lot of the obvious humour as it ramps up the sci-fi. The crew are still likeable, the TNG warmth remains, but now with more Voyager style action. There’s basically every kind of modern Trek story in here and it never feels forced and it never feels like it loses its own identity either.
Plus theres a run of episodes through the middle that are all absolutely great and would be high points of any season of TNG, DS9 or Voyager. That episode with the iPhone? The midseason two-parter? C’mon!
So glad to read that a third season has been commissioned.

Star Wars Visions (Disney+):
Basically the concept of Animatrix, but in the Star Wars universe. Loved it. Every episode was fun. So nice to see a different take and perspective on the universe that didn't revolve around the movies. Some of it was a cool, one off set piece, some of it was throwaway (but still fun), others you could see being developed into a full series if they had the inclination. Episodes are on average 15 minutes long so you can binge them in one sitting (as I did tonight).
Thoroughly recommended/10

Just finished Clarkson's Farm (Amazon Prime). It was well filmed, often funny and we actually learnt a lot from it (like we will never ever be sheep farmers). Clarkson kept his tosserishness mostly under wraps though we saw it emerge a couple of times in the second to last episode. The supporting cast were all good, especially Kaleb who called Clarkson a fucking idiot whenever he needed to.
I'd recommend it. I'd avoided it as I thought it would be more macho bullshit from him or just exploitative crap that he had to do for Amazon, but it was genuinely enjoyable.

9 Perfect Strangers
Never went where I thought it would go and it plays it safe. The cast is great and bounce off eachother well.
A stupid reveal later on let's it down but it has a pretty good finale and the whole show is easy to watch.

Back To Life series 2 (iplayer)
The first series was a total hidden gem and this one feels like its flown slightly under the radar too.
Its dark, funny, beautifully shot and just very good.

It's growing on me, although it's another of those BBC Three 'comedies' that largely forgets to actually be funny.
Well produced though.

I would echo what others have said about Ted Lasso, The Orville, and Clarkson's Farm. Watch them all if you haven't already.
Ted Lasso is an interesting premise, has genuine heart, and is generally funny and inoffensive, although it can sometimes feel a bit "Hollyoaks". Some episodes also seem to forget all about character development, such as the S2 Xmas episode, where nothing of any meaning happened.
The Orville is what you should be watching if you need your Star Trek fix, and want tight episodic sci-fi storylines with Star Trek's values, as opposed to whatever the hell official "Star Trek" is meant to be these days.
Clarkson's Farm surprised me because I thought I knew exactly what it'd be, but surprisingly it genuinely seemed like Clarkson wanted to make a real go of his farm and learn about farming - rather than just dick about - and it was great to watch a young kid belittle and shout at him. Extremely entertaining.

The Christmas episode was a late addition to this season, to be fair. Along with last week's episode.
Sort of explains why they feel a bit out of place and not essential. I enjoyed them, mind.

Brand New Cherry Flavor - 6/10
Horror show on Netflix marketed as a 'limited series'. It's 8 episodes, and by halfway through I was surprisingly bored given how mental the show can get. Picked up towards the end so I thought I might as well finish it. Then it shit the bed with a very open ending, despite being a limited series, ffs. Pretty bitter that it wasn't a self contained thing as I'll be surprised if Netflix renew it tbh.

I don't care if he cures cancer in it, I'm never going to watch Clarkson's Farm. I'd rather crawl through razor blades and shower off in lime juice.

Heels
Fantastic show about a family run small American wrestling league. Starz has proved a decent channel for surprise hits for me, and this adds to that list. The cast and story work well, as does the drama. Even as someone with only a passing interest in wrestling found it engaging.
9/10
Vigil
I probably enjoyed this more than it deserved, but the combination of geopolotics and murder mystery worked for me. The setting also helped sell what was a fairly lightweight story, but I found it compelling enough.

Squid Game - Pretty good. It did end up getting pretty predictable, though. From about the half way point, every plot twist was signposted by a big, neon billboard but its overall quality powered it through to the end.
The koreans do love their screaming melodrama, though.

Enterprise season 1 (netflix)
The dull grey Star Trek. Lacks colour visually and in terms of its characters and plots but it gradually settles into its own groove.
