Justified (Amazon Prime). Season 1
US Marshall with a habit of shooting people. It's based in Kentucky, where almost everyone has the same habit.
Good series, with quite a bit of humour. Probably 7-8/10. It's not amazing, but certainly kept me occupied while making dinner.

Somewhere we can still judge Dougs for when he hasn't caught up on Succession s3.

So just finished season 1 of 'The Bad Batch'. I'll try not to give spoilers.
All in all mostly positive, it definitely answers lore related questions and throws in even more of them. Sometimes controversially.
It's no Clone Wars but then again that didn't reach its potential to later on. I feel like it could easily be better if it was live action but still can't wait to next season.

Devs - 8/10 Alex Garland doing some head-fuck philosophical sci-if with a dose of religion. Had heard it was good but knew nothing about it other than the title. Liked it very much! It;s a slow burn that builds with mystery all the way through.

Far superior in terms of story than Mando for me, which I just felt was cheesy and didn't match the excellent world they had constructed

Sophie - A Murder in West Cork
Netflix documentary about said murder. It's only three episodes long, so doesn't drag too much. It doesn't have a particularly clean ending, but remains interesting enough to the end.

Bob's Burgers Series 3. 9/10.
Loads of great episodes but the highlight was Gene discovering he will eventually become Bob and embracing it early to become mini-Bob.

Did we shed Dougs in the transition? He was always a burden on this thread.

I recently watched S2 and S3 of Ozark, there are wee bits of dodgy writing but some fantastic acting and cinematography, thoroughly enjoyed it.
Ted Lasso continues to be lovely and awesome.

I watched Mare of Easttown. It was very good! But the murder mystery bit of it didn't really stick the landing for me, and it's kind of hard to talk about why without spoilers (are there spoiler tags on here?)
Anyway, go watch it! It's depressing as fuck!

Cruel Summer - 7.5/10
Bit of a limp end, but really enjoyed it up til then. Solid 90s vibes barring some odd dodgy cover versions.

Ghosts S3
First few episodes are awful and clearly filmed with maximum Covid restrictions. Later episodes were better but still disappointing.

I ended up watching the first episode of Lego Masters Australia, and despite not really having an interest in Lego, i thought it was great... so watched all ten episodes of the American version.
10/10. I liked how all the pairings of contestants were so weird. Literally nothing normal about any of them, it's like that game The Cave, where you pick three of a selection of characters to go on this little adventure with, and there's a monk, some creepy twins, a hillbilly, a rocket scientist...
So i had to watch the English version, and while i really liked Mel, it just seemed so quaint in comparison. Like, i could build anything i saw on that show. The Irish mother/son pair were weird enough to be on the American version though.

Masters of the Universe: Revelation part 1
I've seen quite a bit of noise about how this show is "woke" but I think that's a load of bullshit. yes, He-Man get's sidelined but frankly it's for the better, he was never the most interesting character; he's just a strong bloke. That's it.
By looking at the vacuum of what happens when he's removed the show is more interesting for it. It's maybe not *amazing* but it's very good, with an endearing treatment towards the characters.
Ends on a massive cliff hanger, but I'm looking forward to part 2

Carnival Row
Vaugely remember the critics panning this on release, I even remember seeing a BBC review saying its impossible to follow and so dark you can't see anything on screen.
Not sure what they were smoking, it's utterly brilliant. I loved everything about it. The world so rich with detail and so well realised. Even the amount of detail gone into the lore and history, I was genuinely suprised that it's an original story and not based on books.
Impressive production values, great cast, even Cara Delevingne I found in this to be a great actress and so fitting for the part.
With the story and themes touched on, it could have easily been a very very expensive mess. For me personally it's one of the best things I've watched in ages, brilliant stuff.

Loved the slow burn and the philosophical bent to it. Deserved a bigger audience.

The Pacific
After the incredible Band of Brothers this just doesn't match up, but perhaps the comparison is a tad unfair as it's still an excellent and compelling watch. The cast isn't as stand out, but are more than capable with some excellent performances. It struggles a little with portraying the culture shock of the Japanese mindset compared to the Americans, but makes a fair effort. The scope is also a bit greater than the post D-Day campaign so more is skipped or glossed over - however all that being said it's still a more than worthy watch.

Survive (Roku Originals)
So this advert popped up on my Roku box. It intrigued me enough (is that Sansa?!) to click play. it started playing and I could see it listed as S01E01, fair enough I thought. Then after 8 minutes it ended?! Then the next episode started.
Soooo, this is a 12 eight minute episode thingy, TV show/movie in 12 chunks? It's a weird delivery format f'sure. But anyway, I watched all of it, it was okay, nicely shot. A bit Alive meets The Revenant-ish.
And yes, it was Sansa Stark.

Justified (Amazon Prime). Probably 7-8/10. . It’s by far the weakest season. From S2 onwards each season looks at one storyline and branches and it’s all the better for it. It all builds really well with recurring characters that you actually care about. Superb series once you get past the mediocre first.
