I started watching a Youtube video yesterday of some super speed run in San Andreas. Goodness me I'd forgotten those low res poly graphics. And the pop-in of the scenery.
Much as I feel like I really enjoyed SA and would like to set up my old XBox to play it again, I don't think I will!!

I don't know how I've managed to get all the way to Las Venturas.. some of the slow down is insane. |

Yeah I found it hard to go back when I tried the GTA Anniversary "remasters" and it was strange how I'd been convinced they were bigger in size than they actually were. However the character models looked poor with their mitten like hands even back then. |

Try playing the definitive edition on Switch. I don't know how I've managed to get all the way to Las Venturas.. some of the slow down is insane. I don't want to spend any money on it!! I got fooled into buying the PS4 re-master |

Probably told this story before but I did a gaming related project with a car brand about 8 years ago and we brought in a specialist consultant for me to work with who turned out to be Violet Berlin. It was cool. She’s always seemed lovely. |

Yeah, they released GTAV: enhanced edition last year. There was an introductory price of less than a tenner, but that's probably long gone now.
It's the same game with a smooth framerate and reduced loading times. Don't think they pushed the boat out with many other changes in fairness.

It’s nice and smooth with the upped frame rate but otherwise it’s the same game it’s always been really. ‘Vastly improved’ seems a bit of an overstatement.

The "Enhanced and Expanded" version for PS5/Series consoles doesn't change an awful lot but it does look a bit better with 3 different performance modes, being able to play at 60 FPS makes it feel a lot better. I did some messing about with it when it came out, the full RT reflections look nice but I'd rather have the faster frame rate.

It’s mad to think the PS3 generation had two full scale GTA games as well as two decent size mini releases and we’ve had nothing since.

Weirdly, there was a brief moment where they did seem to consider PC carefully - LA Noire and GTAIV were poor ports, but then Max Payne 3 and GTAV were great, with in depth options to tune graphics.
But then they got bored and didn't bother pushing any of the console graphic updates like RT.

Yeah it works well in some situations but at others it's a hindrance, certainly makes it very immersive if you just go for a walk.
It was added to the PS4 and Xbox One versions when they came out.
