Rockstar having a female protagonist is going to be interesting. On the one hand, it's something a bit fresh and therefore interesting from them, but on the other hand past GTAs have been very much male fantasies, and I wonder if they can actually write a decent female protagonist.
Haven't played any of the recent Red Dead games, so maybe those do a bit better at a wider range of characters. *fingers crossed*

I'm a bit apprehensive of what Rockstar would do with their version of the Sphere if they revisited Las Venturas. There would be 2 spheres and office building between them. Maybe similar to London's "Gherkin"?

Wasn't it leaked that they wanted to do a large part of America but scaled stuff back so they'll be adding more locations over time? I thought that was more a Fortnite style thing with smaller, interchangeable locations. It would keep the online side of things interesting and it would be easier to implement if the city is made up of many islands. Just swap out one island for another every 6 months.

trailer analysis from DF. AB getting his pixel peep on with the bikini pose and OM going deep in the strip club .... for science
pixels suggest that it'll be 1440p or lower going by whats seen in the trailer and then scaled. Fuck knows what the series s will be at.

Pretty sure Rockstar have always been latterly shown not to bullshot their trailers. The only thing I thought is that this will be 30fps...and unfortunately 30fps doesn't look great on my OLED. Mid gen hardware refresh next year may bring this level of density more into deliverable realms

I can't watch those DF videos. It's like watching some kind of OCD crisis in full effect.

No good having NPC density if all they do is get in the way then fall to the ground unrealistically with an irritating quip at the slightest nudge.

Mid gen hardware refresh next year may bring this level of density more into deliverable realms I'd agree. From GTA Vice City onwards I've never seen Rockstar put out a prerendered trailer. They've always been representative of the game we're going to get. I don't think this is any different. They're very good at what they do regarding open world tech compared to a lot of Devs but I guess having infinite money and a shit load of time definitely helps.

Just give Rockstar the Star Wars licence and see what magic they can come up with. I saw a thread on Twitter about ‘what could a new R* franchise in the style of GTA/Red Dead be’ and some sort of futuristic sci-fi type thing seems to be the favourite answer. I wonder if they will ever do something else. I know there’s been the odd foray like Manhunt and Table Tennis but it would be cool to see a proper full scale mega R* game that wasn’t GTA or Red Dead.

Grand Theft Starfield
At least you would have some planetside vehicles to zip around in while cruising for hoes and tricks.

I'd love for them to revisit London or a near future setting like GTA2.
I'll settle for being alive for GTA7 release though.

A new Manhunt would be great. Proper gritty and nasty. Maybe like Hitman but much more violent with some full combat.

I mean....there's stuff which is credibly renderable in real time but is predictable and focused which you can pull off in an interactive gaming environment with limited features and assets, but is not sustainable over the whole gaming experience. It's the old level of detail thing, but also controlling for lighting and particle effects etc. It's not like ye olde world where you had in game footage or pre-rendered FMV. Look at the difference between close up dialogue vs exploration and combat in BG3. Plus, you've got witchcraft like DLSS.
What I'm getting at is that you can get some really *amazing* results using real time in-game code if you've got extensive control on what might need displaying (e.g. scripted mission related dialogue), which probably doesn't reflect what the full emersive gameplay experience is like most of the time. But it is still technically created in real time by the game engine.
Them's the bits you put in a trailer. And they're technically *possible* in game.

I would have liked RS to have given the job of character movement and control to someone who can actually do this well, thinking of how unwieldy their characters typically are to move, run and gun etc. Some of the older GTA's are unplayable due to this and we all know how much of a pain (the otherwise stunning) RDR2 can be due to the way RS implement various contextual buttons for various tasks etc.

Reboot Manhunt. Bring back Brian Cox as The Director, but make him Logan Roy.
"You're not a serious person, Cash"
"If your hands are clean, it’s only because your whorehouse also does manicures"
"Meeting over. Fuck off"
An early boss fight against Connor as part of the tutorial. Boss fights against Shiv, Roman, Kendal, in that order.
Add a Boar on the Floor level.
I'd buy it.

If it’s a short game that’s a lot of bosses in quick succession .

Ah but they are quick and gimmicky e.g. get Roman to send a dick pic to the director and he'll send his henchmen Karl and Frank to take him out; lure Kendall to a coke stash to incapacitate him; persuade Tom to, ahem, shiv Shiv etc.

I vaguely remember being chased by a pig in Manhunt, that I couldn't kill. I don't think I ever completed the game.. I did install it on my Steam Deck with the intention of replaying it to completion. Me and my mate got obsessed with The Warriors when that came out. CAN YOU DIGGGG ITTTTTT.

I remember Manhunt being interesting but very limiting. You had to compete levels in a very specific way. It was dated before it came out by things like Hitman that were similar but much more free and flexible.
It was also devoid of the usual Rockstar satire and the tone was just a bit unpleasant.
I never played Warriors despite adoring the film.

From my memory of Manhunt, with the advances in graphics it might be just a bit too visceral to gain acceptance.
I would imagine it would be a lightning rod for video game outrage merchants, rightly or wrongly.
