Joe Rogan has got 11.7M subsribers on YouTube and Google seem to be OK with that. What difference would using YouTube Music make over Spotify if it's a matter of principles?

I used to listen to Joe Rogan, Jordan Peterson and Brett Weinstein. With the exception of Rogan, the mind boggles at how these supposedly educated, smart people are pushing the disinformation to the degree that they are. The only reasonable explanantion is that they are on the grift and following in Rogan's wake.
I moved to Spotify from Google Play Music when they folded it into youtube and ruined a perfectly good service. Has Youtube Music improved over the last year would anyone know?

They paid Rogan a shitload for an exclusivity deal. I imagine backing out of that would cost them another shitload for breach of contract Probably not, he could still get paid and they could not put his shows up. Or they could be responsible and take some control over what is on his show instead of absolving themselves from any responsibility. I'm not trying to justify it, just pointing out that they're making a commercial decision over a moral one.

Youtube hasnt sought him out to be an exclusive content provider and dropped a giant sack of money on his head, thus providing their tacit approval of his shitty opinions.

Spotify are in a bit of dilemma. His content is now raising eyebrows among a lot of people but any attempt to 'censor' any of it would cause his 'fans' to actually lose their minds.

Who or what is a Joe Rogan? I would very much like an answer to this, and I refuse to Google him. To the people in this thread... who is he, what's his background, and why did you listen to him in the first place?

First Lynyrd Skynyrd and now Spotify. Mr Young just can’t catch a break.

He’s like a Howard Stern crossed with Alex Jones but without any of the intellect, other than knowing how to appeal to the masses.

To the people in this thread... who is he, what's his background, and why did you listen to him in the first place? Objection, m'lud. I've never listened to him. He's an ex UFC colour commentator and comedian, turned "interviewer". He has some very reasonable people on which is always the lever used by his fans, but he is also pretty well known for giving a platform to some absolute arses (in the interests of "just asking questions") and he's in possession of some pretty dodgy views, not least some covid/vaccine rubbish which is where all the current objections come from. He's very much beloved of many of the "hurr hurr, but what about the mens?" types. Essentially, he's an arse with a platform.

When you have been down the rabbit hole of Kevin Samuels, Jordan Peterson etc. on youtube. He is a lightweight but yes still a prize tit.

Kind of suspect Neil Young is quite happy that his music isn’t on Spotify given his views on compression/MP3. He’s been very vocal about loathing streaming services like Spotify in the past.

And he will definitely miss the £300 a month he banks from the millions of streams.

I've heard my teenage boys mention him (not Neil). They are susceptible to suggestions like "womens' rights have gone too far", which I feel must come from such arseholes on Youtube.
Happy my daughter is woke as fuck.

I used to listen to Rogan, as I do think even just a few years ago he was fairly open minded to different views. I mean he's always been a bit of a bro-dude meathead but he kind of admits that, and whilst he did have some alt-right types on, he also frequently had science communicators like Cox and deGrasse Tyson. As well as quite a few good episodes with comedians.
But over the last few years he's drifted further into the alt right swamp. He's noticeably meaner, and whilst previously he would be open to discussion now he shuts down anything that goes against his increasingly toxic world view. Ever since he relocated to Texas he's been just too far gone for me to enjoy.

Appear fair to start with and make people think they are a decent sort, then they show their true colours.

jono62That's true, but I do think Rogan was in the "reasonable" camp for a fairly long time, it's really only been the last few years that he's taken a real hard swerve to the right.
