Tidal is basically a clone of Spotify now. All the apps work and look more or less the same, the library seems the same and, after a few days use, it’s suggesting more or less the same music.
The only thing it’s not doing is harassing me to listen to podcasts.
The only down side, they all have one, is that it doesn’t work with Amazon speakers. I’ve got mainly Sonos but do have a few echos dotted about, so they are back down to the ‘free’ Amazon Prime Music tier.

I was like, no way that can be true, but it is! Tidal only integrated with Alexa in the US.

A good thing with YouTube music is that it's included in the "Remove all ads from YouTube" price.

But, srsly, I believe there is a way to get the tidal (and other skills) skill. You can log into your account in a browser and change your home address to a US one. You can then log into the app, install what you want and flip back to the U.K.
It’s not a huge loss so I haven’t bothered yet.

Anybody found a decent way of importing playlists to YT music? Used a spare Apple device to try songshift but that seems to only support YouTube and not YT music, so I've got playlists full of shitty quality videos.
Managed to export my playlists to CSV, but having no luck finding a free way to dump them into YT music. Tried tune my music which works, but is fairly severely limited.

I just used one of those 1000 at a time free apps and did it 10 times or so. Took a grand total of 15 minutes.

I have to say, I do really like Tidal. The quality increase is pretty chunky and there a few small QOL touches in the apps that make just listening to music a bit nicer.

So they're going to put a disclaimer at the start of any covid misinformation now. That's that sorted then.

Think I'll have a look at Tidal. Hopefully they'll sign up Rogan after Spotify kick him off

Amazon discovery is practically nil, but that may not bother you. Trialing Qobuz and Apple Music for now, so that's 3 months free at least.

The good thing is that migration tools are a lot better so moving and/or trialing services is absolutely painless. The only thing you lose, really, is the algorithm training.

Gave up and just subbed to tunemymusic for a month. The 10 playlist thing a day with YT music will be a pain in the arse, so might as well just let it do its thing in the background.

They should just play a klaxon every 4 seconds that drowns Rogan out when he starts bollocking on about his daft Covid views.
That's not *the* Klaxons though. That would be too cruel and unusual.
(Honestly nothing against The Klaxons, can't even recall a single song of theirs. I'm glad the music press stopped trying to make "nu rave" a thing.)

I could have done with the playlist import.. lost years of Spotify playlists when I left them for Apple, then subbed back to Spotify and they wiped my account. Anyway I just piggyback off a family YouTube Premium account. Not a massive fan of YouTube as the recommends are awful but I'm at the stage of being old and cynical so most new music sounds a lot like what I used to listen to anyway..

I'm also really liking Tidal.
I've lost one artist and I have their music digitally purchased, so not a massive thing. Everything else is there, including the family's stuff.
Of course, the majority owner is now Jack Dorsey, so there's that.

One absolute game changer with Tidal is the integration with Plex (with Plex pass). If you have both, it integrates your personal library with the Tidal library, streaming better quality if your local mp3s are a bit old and lossy. For someone like me who ripped 1000s of CDs years ago, but at pretty crappy quality, it really does help.

Hmm. I probably shouldn't say things like that on the public internet.

Hmm. I probably shouldn't say things like that on the public internet. You've never been to Twitter, have you I've clicked the odd link here and there, but mostly, no. I read Reddit a bit (just football and silly stuff) and mostly don't get involved and obviously, here. But that's the extent of my social media. I sort of missed the boat, when it all took off in the early 00s, I wasn't really in a position to get involved and it all sort of passed me by. No Facebook, no Instagram, no Twitter. I don't really feel as though I've missed out, honestly.

Hmm. I probably shouldn't say things like that on the public internet. I think you're safe here. There's only a handful of us remember. PLus the majority of us are so old we won't remember in another 10 minutes anyway.

Searched for Scarface on Tidal > All albums, doesn't list The Diary
Search for The Diary and found it
On the plus side, your album likes are separate from artists so not really a big deal. Spotify's library is rubbish
Think I'll use this as an excuce to get some new headphones

Initial impression is that it looks a bit smarter than Spotify as well

And that is me on the bandwagon. Spotify cancelled, joined tidal.
Fucking pain cancelling Spotify. Have to contact support, support give links that don’t work, back to support, 15 minutes of waiting…
