My Nanna used to serve bread and butter with everything. My mother, who has ways had middle class pretensions would hate it if we went and got ourselves a slice to mop up gravy. Her loss, it's one of the best things in the world.
As a student I would have bread and butter with microwaveable shepherd's pies, so a different type of pie sandwich. Fish pies as well now I think of it.

Thank god, another bread and gravy fan. Absolutely one of the best things ever. I get scowled at now though, carbs overload etc.

Cornish pasties are dreadful. Dry, boring and tasteless. There. I said it. Yes, although I'm yet to have one in Cornwall. And also your (NZ) pies are generally much, much better than UK pies. The fish and chips are still godawful though, although that's true for much of the UK too. I can't believe you haven't converted and accepted NZ fush and chups into your life! Superior in all ways!

Shitty white bread with a load of butter is fucking amazing with a traditional meat and three veg type dinner and of course with any kind of casserole. Agreed. Plastic bread and butter is for anything with a sauce, gravy or juices. If you don’t mop your plate, you’re doing it wrong.

It's not dissimilar to a chip buttie is it. I could get on board with a roast potato sandwich.

Tea cake needs adding to the list. That’s what Yorkshire folk call em No you're thinking of a tea cake. They call a tea cake with currents in a current tea cake. A tea cake is a bap / barm

I think the only chip butties I've had have been on Scottish rolls and drenched in vinegar. Delicious.

I'd just like to let you all know that the people responsible for sacking the people that sacked the people who created the poll have they themselves been sacked.
