Marathonned all of Gen V and then the first three of The Boys season 4 yesterday.
That was a lot.
I enjoyed Gen V, although it was a bit sad knowing that Chance Perdomo died so soon after it.

The guy that plays Homelander is such a good actor. Teetering on the edge of a complete meltdown every scene.

Watch Banshee if you haven't already. He's not as OTT as Homelander in that obviously, but still a great watch.

I only watched Banshee in the last year or two. Best thing I watched in a long time.

All this talk about Banshee has me thinking about Lili Simmons and I zone out...

The biggest problem with the season so far for me - aside from "I took the word 'race' from real life and replaced it with 'supe' and that's satire right" approach to political commentary - is that I just. Do. Not. Give. A single. Fuck. about Frenchie and Kimiko. They're great characters, and the individual scenes are fun, but I don't care about their B plot in the slightest.
Tbh, I don't really give a shit about Hughie either. It's sad that Simon Pegg's character had a stroke, but (so far) it's got nothing to do with anything.
Of course that could all change in the second half of the season - maybe Hughie's mum is a secret villain mastermind or something. But right now, every time I see Kimiko and Frenchie doing a thing, I'm thinking "can we please get back to Butcher and Homelander please". Even more A-Train content would be fine. More Octo-Tilda.
It's another reason why I'm happy for the show to be ending next season. Because I can't imagine the rest of the team carrying it once the Butcher/Homelander thing is over and done with.

Yeah I really still enjoyed the first 3 episodes, some bits were great and hilarious (the 7 on ice lol). But hoping that US politics isn't going to be shoved in our face all season, and that this Hughie story with his mum is actually going somewhere. I just want mental anti/superhero shenanigans.

As someone who is very squeamish with eyes I had to look away for a bit. Enjoyable episode and Antony Starr was superb but some did feel like it was spinning its wheels a bit as mentioned before the Frenchie and Miko stuff just seems superfluous (Miko's "death" was pretty extreme this week) and just WTF is going on with the Hughie's Dad plot, it was obvious they weren't going to get Simon Pegg just to lie in a bed and die but Super Hughie Sr on the way?

Episode 4...
Maybe some of Starrs best work in the role.

That eye scene was nasty but had the right amount of funny to make up for it.

Just catching up on this. Can't help but feel a bit sorry for the actor who plays Ryan with his breaking voice.
Excellent stuff so far.

Watching Homelander (sorry, Anthony Starr) out of character was really jarring.

That was a lot of fun. The writer of the pick up lines obviously didn't realise Kiwis pronounce "tulips" properly as that pick up line doesn't work if you do. Although it'd probably not work even if you said "too-lips".

Pretty patchy newest episode. I don't even think it's satire at all when you're just copying things from IRL and not even putting a twist on them. And they're laying it on pretty thick with Jeffrey Dean Morgan's character pretty clearly being a figment of Butcher's imagination. It's so, so very obvious that I'm half expecting the twist to be that he's real after all. The Hughie bits were actually pretty moving, though. And I did love Frenchie's line about fucking a sheep.

Enjoyed it but the Marvel/Disney like stuff should have just been a one scene and done.

I know the show is far from being the most realistic thing ever, but the sheep thing was ridiculous and the CGI looked really ropey I though.
I thought it was a good episode though.

This season feels like it's strayed from the previous 3.
Hugh snr storyline came out of nowhere and felt unnecessary. The farm idea was fun but a bit predictable with the inevitable red shirts getting mulched.
The issue for me is suddenly the team are petulant teens. Their reactions seem to be tailored to fit the story rather than the characters, there is no development or growth.
Sister Sage is the most interesting addition, interested to see what the arc is for her.

Yeah, feels a bit like it's just treading water a bit this season, and I could've happily done without the Hugh Sr storyline. Frenchie and Kimiko are probably two of my fave characters, so no objections to more of their backstory at least. Top marks for "This man is clearly in no condition to fuck a sheep!!!"

So, I think I'm actually starting to hate this show now. It's just too close to reality, and I'm not enjoying it very much at all.

sort of agree, the enjoyment factor has definitely waned.
On plus side I chuckled at Ronaldo being referred to as Homelander the other day, that's also probably too close to reality though.

I did like the Zendaya line.
But yeah, even the fun stuff the show usually does well, just isn't as fun to me right now. The tone is shifting all over the fucking place, there's too many storylines they're unsuccessfully trying to juggle, And it's just getting nastier and nastier.
