It was all spectacle and little story, virtually nothing had consequences.
The spectacle is fun though.

Yeah, feels like they had too many plates spinning. Loads of threads just went absolutely nowhere. Frenchie going to prison and then... Ah fuck it we'll just release him with no fanfare because he needs to work on the latest McGuffin.
MM's life threaten... Ah fuck it, we'll just forget about that and carry on as normal.
Hughie's traumatic experience followed by him breaking down and admitting he's not OK, and then absolutely nothing connected to that for the rest of the season (unless I've missed something) He's effectively been raped 20 times in the last episode, but lolz he had two fingers up his bum! I still mostly enjoyed it anyway, but glad it's hopefully coming to an end with S5. Yeah don't disagree with these and yet I still had fun. It's almost as if the writers strike and some top tier TV floundering a little could be connected somehow...

It’s following the Lost playbook pretty well so far. Just needs a polar bear or whatever the fuck it was.

Mmm… not for me. I am absolutely done with this franchise after S5 completes.

I've only just started Gen V but straight away it feels like a b-tier cash-in, although I'm spending a lot of time trying to force my brain to believe the quite obviously 30 year old actor is 18. Maybe I'll like it more if I get over that and any of the characters develops a personality.
The main series is good because of Ennis' characters, even if it diverts quite heavily away from the comics - the core goodness and engaging set up is baked in. You can tell Gen V doesn't have the special sauce. Hard to get excited by another spin-off.

There’s enough other stuff I haven’t watched to bother with spin offs of something that’s run its course. Unless it gets amazing reviews I won’t bother.

It is slightly hypocritical after spending an episode making fun of Marvel before announcing a prequel, the most creatively bankrupt of all quels.
