AFAIK the election terms carry on as normal if the president changes mid-term. Pretty sure that is what happened after Kennedy's assassination and Nixon's resignation

Was reading an article about Trump's possible running mate, and apparently it's a kind of weird situation (shocker!) because he's (a) in such a strong position that he doesn't really need one of his competitors as a running mate to shore things up, and (b) such an egotistical twat that he's basically leaving it as late as possible to give all the wannabe-VPs time to suck up to him.
It'll probably be a woman, in an attempt to appeal to those outside his fanbase, but other than that the only requirement is basically how much they can stoke his ego and prove their loyalty.
The worrying thing being that it seems like this might be one of the few times that the VP might actually end up mattering, given the ages of the people involved.

I do wonder how much Russia (and maybe china and iran) will spread more bullshit to get trump elected this time. There was a lot of fake bullshit from Russia to discredit Clinton (and also say brexit was great) Putin needs Trump in charge so he can weaken Ukraine and get away with more shit around the world. Trump will make the middle east a far worse place for starters

Not noticed the others (yet), but I feel like in a constant battle of wits with youtube not to accidentally click on one of the negative misogynist movie reviews. It can be quite hard to spot them from the image/title, but once you watch one you seem to get inundated with all the right wing junk stuff.

I seem to be constantly getting these adverts for mostly revolutionary tech products, all that have the same guy doing the voice over and have a big QR code on the screen for you to find out more. Thought it seemed fairly innocuous, but definitely had bad vibes from them. Suddenly though, I had one that looked just like the others (don't think it had the voice) and it was someone telling guys to stop being nice to women and the only way to shag someone was to be be cruel to them. |

Horrible story about an almost certain Trump supporter who beheaded his dad and then ranted on YouTube while holding the head up.
Mohn also ranted about President Joe Biden, federal officials, what he called "far-left woke mobs," supporters of the Black Lives Matter movement and members of the LGBTQ+ community, the outlet reported. He also called on people to attack federal workers, federal law enforcement and journalists.
It did make me laugh though, there's a family photograph in the story with the caption :

It's almost as if there's a clear mental health epidemic going on in that country that has never been addressed apart from just releasing more and more medication without the aftercare while at the same time spreading lies so cynically, the same very lies that are treated with earnest by those very people with severe mental health issues and acting shocked when those very people act upon those conspiracies.

Yeah, but even most crazy people (even Trump supporters!) don't behead their relatives and hold up the heads for the camera. I recently read a story about guy who beheaded a stranger on a bus, because he thought he was an alien from outer space. No political excuse necessary! People suffering from psychosis often don't need one! Like, I understand and agree that apocalyptic rhetoric from politicians and the media can help trigger some of this kind of thing. But imo the first reaction to something this sick shouldn't be "lol Trump supporters, eh". It's more than politics; it's a failure of their whole system to treat mental health. This guy should have been on medication. |
