Because one day you think they'll tolerate you and focus on the other different person.

I'm off to report back to Contact. This planet will have to wait a bit longer for a Culture intervention. Even the Minds will need a few years to contemplate the complexities of the current state of humanity.
(Sorry if you don't know what on earth i am talking about)

The Democrats just didn't have enough heart. Thought we were still doing football jokes, should've refreshed. He hasn't covered himself in glory here, Brian.

It opens up income streams for friends. Everytime I see the phrase 'cutting red tape' or 'deregulation', I read 'more ways for faceless consultancies to make money'.

Every appointment has truely been horrific. Still waiting for Elons no strings attached advisor role, the return of Bannon or some other nutjub and a pro kremlin minister of defense.

I have seen posts about possible tally machine tampering lately and calls for manual counting of votes. Apparently some people think that it's weird that most swing states have clearly shifted to the right for the presidential race, but not for the senate.
It's probably nothing, and there is a different explanation for that, but imagine if the sitation was reversed. The media would be full of these stories.

Well Trump himself was bleating about "ELECTION INTERFERENCE!!1!11!" (as usual) until he started winning, so...

Well everyone's favourite bald headed racist who had to use spray on his head to pretend he had hair Stephen Miller is back but with a central role in immigration.

Speaking of which, Mr. "I don't know about Project 25, never heard of it, I'm not associated with it, haven't read it" appointed one of its main contributors and advocate of "workplace immigration raids" Tom Homan as his "border czar"... And of course Israeli higher-ups are already saying it's time to annex parts of the West Bank now that Trump is in. It's like the trolley problem but the voters managed to kill everyone on both tracks.

Apparently Stephen King has had his X account suspended for describing Elon Musk as Trump's First Lady He should take a long look at himself in the mirror for being on the platform in the first place. What does it take for all these attention seekers to finally realise the place is a cesspool that should be avoided?

Apparently Stephen King has had his X account suspended for describing Elon Musk as Trump's First Lady So... is this actually true? Because I looked at his account and it's still there.

Of course it's true. We all thoroughly fact check everything before posting here.

I vigorously fact checked it before sharing the news here, by reading the social media post twice.

Fact checking means nothing in this neo-Trumpian world, truth will be stranger than fiction for the next 4-5 years.

So they now have the house, too. They are going to have full control come january. It's really quite amazing. And appalling. I knew he had a shot at winning but to get all three genuinely never crossed my mind. Gets a World Cup and an Olympics too for extra bread and and circuses.

If we're lucky, they'll fuck it up enough for the Dems to take back control of something in the midterms, but not so badly that they don't have elections anymore...

My expectations was Trump losing, but I did think it likely that House/Senate would go Republican way. Never thought they would get such a total dominance. Once again, polling seemed to really fuck this up. It completely failed to pick up those that didn't turn out.

In fairness I doubt he has read Project 25 but I doubt he's ever read anything longer than a McDonald's menu.

Biggest issue for me is the political nature of the courts. At both state and federal level. They are already stuffed full of Republicans and will only get worse.

Also, Supreme Court could become 7-2 (even 8-1) to Republicans during his 2nd term, yay?!?

I know our courts are a product of entrenched tradition and privilege but it does feel like having that structure, however small c-conservative it might be, provides a level of stability that the politicised US system lacks.
The whole thing around SCOTUS being political appointees has been proven ripe for abuse when the GOP refused to follow convention over Obama’s last vacancy then ignored convention again to stop Biden getting a go at the end of Trump’s first term.
