In his appeal in Fulton County, Trump is actually claiming ignorance of the law as a defence.

That's an insane argument, the whole point of American independence and the constitution was to get away from autocracy.

I just wish this Trump psycho drama would just finally stop, how the fuck is he alive and kicking with his health and diet?
Just watch this shit and wonder how this isn't satire FFS.

It's starting to look as though Nikki Haley is the only person who can realistically beat Trump to the Republican nomination. That's probably the best-case scenario - Trump doesn't even get nominated, then Biden beats Haley in the election.

I guess I'm so used to it now that I've forgotten how weird it is that Christian America has embraced Trump despite him being the least Christian candidate either party has had probably ever.
Guns and abortions trump everything else, I guess.

I'm still amazed that Nikki Haley is joint 2nd, Nikki Haley who is against preferred pronouns but conveniently forgets that Nikki is her chosen name. The sheer hypocrisy really does make your head spin.

Didn't she impose a name change on her husband too?

Didn't she impose a name change on her husband too? Yeah I saw that. Made him use his middle name when they met at uni. Fucking bizarre.

The best thing you can say about Haley is that if she were to be nominated, then lose the election, she might not incite an insurrection (and try to flush 200 years of American democracy down the toilet) rather than admit defeat.
Which is the kind of sentiment that would've been unthinkable back in mid-2016, but here we are.

I'm sure I've read that if Haley was the nomination Republicans would have a much better chance of beating Biden.
Can imagine she'd get a lot more of the 'moderate' and swing votes than Trump would.

On the other hand, she's a woman and the red necks won't stand for being told what to do by a woman.

Plus she wouldn't galvanise the MAGA/QAnon nutters to anything like the same extent as Trump.

Well, problem solved: Biden can just shoot Trump before the election. Or after the election I guess, whatever. It's fine as long as he's the president.

At this point I think Trump is going to win.
I wish that were not the case, but the guy bullshits so consistently that you call him on any of the disturbing shit he says. Because it's all just riffing! The normal rules don't apply!
And none of the court cases against him look like they're going to stick before the election. And even if they did, people aren't paying enough attention for it to affect their vote (if they even decide to vote in the first place). And anything that's delayed until after the election won't matter, because as president he'll just pressure the state attorneys general to drop the charges.
It's pretty thoroughly depressing, but absent his sudden death I think we'll be back with Trump Mk 2 in just over a year's time. And his cronies know how to work the system now, so the kid gloves will be off.

I'd like to think that once more people start actually looking at the possibility of another Trump presidency, they will wake up, hold their noses and vote to keep him out. But I'm not at all confident about that right now; I really wish I could be!
But I'm in a pretty dark mood right now, so maybe it's just that talking. :/

If trump gets in then the world is pretty much fucked as he will cut all spending to Ukraine as his master putin will order him. The middle east will be lot worse (maybe he would attack iran?) More coal usage and getting bribes from oil company. Have elmo musk as advisor on some dum fuck thing
Good times

(check notes..) Hunter's laptop etc
There is still die-hard support from loony Trump supporters in the US

I wouldn't go so far as to say the world is fucked if he gets in, that feels a bit extreme.
But there's something deeply broken in America, if people could look at 2016-2020 and think "oh yeah I'll have some more of that thanks". There's just no trust left at all, people either don't pay attention or don't listen to anything that challenges their beliefs. Nfi how you fix something like that.

Tool sing about letting California fuck off into the sea and leaving Arizona Bay.
Maybe it should just become the city of Toronto on the Ontario Ocean.

I wouldn't go so far as to say the world is fucked if he gets in, that feels a bit extreme. I don't know, fucked seems a pretty accurate assessment. I guess it depends on your definition of fucked, as we aren't talking imminent apocalypse, but the consequences of a second term of Trump will certainly have wider ramifications than just within the US borders. All support for Ukraine likely would be withdrawn and Trump and his people will put pressure on Ukraine/allies to give into Putin's demands. Trump has also said that he would withdraw from NATO, so you could see that collapsing or at least drastically changing. The much needed changes to combat global warming will be put on hold in one of the biggest polluting nations, with some of the actions already taken likely being reversed. If the US aren't bothering, then expect other nations to follow their lead. Unless Trump is a Truss like disaster, also expect to see right wingers across the globe being emboldened by him winning. We already have a surge of the populist right wing across much of Europe and they are only going to grow if they have a friend in the White House.

I agree that the US basically going on a carbon binge is going to be a problem, but I think other countries aren't really looking to the US to lead anymore. That's going to really hurt the US in 10 years time because they won't have developed the green tech they need to adapt and survive, so will be dependent on having to import their green tech because they won't have the knowledge or capacity to do it. China are going hell for leather to decarbonise, whilst also developing their own green tech to sell to the rest of the world. The EU is pinning a lot on the green deal. Spending way too little but it's a start. If Labour get into power they are going to try to decarbonise as fast as possible. Ultimately, this is what might cause the downfall of the US as the global hegemonic power.

If Trump gets who knows what kind of foreign politics he will pursue, except disastrous.
But domestically you will properly see Gilead start to emerge, as gun ownership is further relaxed, abortions are made impossible, and education further politicized.

Trump won’t have picked up any new votes since the last time so he loses again if everyone shows up. The issue is democrats hating the doddering old man. I cant quite believe he is the best they have got to put up against Trump. But hopefully democrats show up just to stop the slug.
