When he inevitably dies you're going to get a lot of splinter groups forming all trying to "interpret his will". Could be the beginnings of a new religion. Edit: already covered on the previous page

He's off the ballot in Maine now.
I dunno... I think this is going to end very, very badly.

Will the Supreme court rule on this stuff before the election? I'm gonna assume yes, and I guess they'll let him run.
So the probable effect is mainly to rile up his voters. I hope that plus things like Biden/Israel putting off younger democrat voters don't end up with him sneaking in.

I'm pretty sure the Supreme Court will rule on this by mid-2024. Whatever decision they make will be interesting - if they rule in Trump's favour then do they rewrite the 14th amendement?

Democrats would have a better chance if they had a new runner for the next election. Pretty much everything I see online everyone hates Biden and now with the US stance on Israel they are losing a lot of young voters (who probably won't vote trump either). I know four Americans and they are all still voting biden but they think he is utterly useless, just slightly better than trump. It's just two very old men trying to run for president, both who will do a lot of harm. There should be a age cap to have such an important job.

What harm do you think Biden is going to do? And who do you think should run in his place?

This echoes what I'm hearing from Americans. They grudgingly accept Biden but don't like him. Some are actively considering not voting. Biden doesn't even seem liked by Democrats.
They need to really get younger blood in because everyone under 40 seems totally disenfranchised

If they're feeling disenfranchised enough to not bother turning up to keep Trump out of the White House, then they deserve having Trump in the White House. "Waaaah waaaah, Biden doesn't completely agree with me about Israel, waaaah"
The big fucking babies.

This is why I like having compulsory voting, it takes motivation out of the equation. Your ancestors fought and died for your right to vote, if you can't be fucking bothered then you have zero justification to complain about the result.

Also (and I know I'm ranting, but this is kind of pissing me off), it is entirely possible that Biden and his team are trying to push Israel in the direction the idiot American children want. But it doesn't happen instantly, because diplomacy is actually really fucking hard, and the right answer isn't always obvious or easy to achieve.
And even if he wasn't doing that, guess what? The people you elect aren't going to agree with you about everything, because people and issues are usually pretty complicated! Who knew?

As if Trump is going to be some kind of friend to the Palestinian people. He’s about as pro-Netanyahu as it gets. He’ll probably lobby for nuking Gaza if he gets in.

Trump won't give a shit about anything outside the US's borders, we don't need some clearly brain addled fascist isolationist for 5 minutes let alone 4 years.

It's more that democrats need to motivate younger voters to go out and vote if they want to win (as I understand it). If it's anything like here, or a lot of other places, older people are much more likely to vote, and more likely to lean to the right, so the left has an endless struggle to try and get younger voters out.
He'd clearly be a better option for them than Trump, but being better than Trump isn't really something to get people excited. It runs the risk of doing a Brexit and people assuming others will vote against him, and then not enough people turning out to do so.

Bloody hell. A Republican actually listened to doctors and changed their mind and position on about Trans youth medical care.
But then his veto of the care-banning bill was overruled anyway. Cunts.

I'd struggle to vote Biden in for a second term. He's 81 and looks clapped out.
Is he making the decisions or is he in bed by 9pm?
It's insane that he is the best option the Democrats.

He's the best option because "safe old white dude who isn't going to rock the boat too much" is what people wanted after 4 years of Trump. Maybe people don't like that answer, but it's the truth.
Is it crazy that he's the best option? Sure, absolutely. But nobody else is stepping up, at least nobody with a proven track record of neutralising Trump. So it's going to be Biden, and Democrats should suck it up and stop wishing for him to not be old. Because the alternative is only a little less old, and is going to be a whole lot worse.
I hate Democrats sometimes, they've turned moaning into almost an art form.

Anyway, if/when Trump is confirmed as the opponent, hopefully people will pull their fingers out and ask themselves if they really want to be on the sidelines for this one.

Bogles my mind that any right thinking person would even contemplate abstaining in a Biden Vs Trump election. Yeah, Biden might be old and a doddering. Maybe he will die or become unfit for office and have to be replaced by Harris mid-term. Maybe he isn't being as radical as people would like and maybe he isn't being as firm with Israel as many want him to be.
But when his opponent has literally said he would be a dictator, even just for a day. A man that has encouraged a violent uprising and repeatedly lied about the election. Someone that would instantly handover as much of Ukraine as Putin would want and would likely be shifting most of the military aid going to Ukraine over to Israel. Someone who wouldn't have any qualms of rolling back civil liberties to the US of the 50s. The idea that there is any competition for someone that has any care whatsoever for the state of the world or of minority groups is not only nuts, but deeply dangerous.
