I think it was not having a third hand to also hold the console that was the problem. It was such a well made game though

My daughter got two copies of the Trollhunters game for the Switch earlier this year, so if anyone wants it for their nippers I've got a copy up for sale. She says it's very good, although I think she's most impressed by how faithful it is to the show (same voice cast, etc). Full disclosure, I've not played it, and I'm not sure how much there is there for non-fans, but she does seem to like it, even if she still spends most of her time playing Minecraft. www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/570001251097430

Despite my initial disappointment with Art of Rally, I've persevered with it over the last few weeks and have really developed a soft spot for it.
It's technically weak - the environments are very sparse and there's some serious pop in with the shadows - and it really does punish you for very small mistakes. But once you get about mid-way through and unlock the Group B cars, the game really comes to life and sometimes, when you get it just right you can pull off a delicious drift around the corners and for just a few seconds you're driving just like they do in the trailers!
And then you mess up the next corner and in the car in the lake....
It's definitely grown on me, and I kinda love it, but it's not a game I could recommend...

Gameplay seems cute, and I know this must be intentional but I wish the colours didn't blend into one another with objects like building and mountains. That looks like it could be frustrating with judging where things are.

Wow, Streets of Rage 4 is a great game isn’t it.
I think the Switch has a real market with 35+ year olds. A good friend who never plays video games, has recently started playing the Switch with me. We’re playing classic style games in MP. It’s great fun. Some of the most fun I’ve had in video gaming since childhood/teen years.
I quite like that it’s basic compared to my PS5. That’s my machine for power, but the Switch suits my non-video gaming friends perfectly, as it’s all pick up and play, no 3d or intricate controls.
I can’t stop buying fun games like SoR4.

I also like that my Switch is underpowered. I dunno, there's just something cool about it. The PS5 might have 4k, 60fps, ray-tracing, stuff like that, but the shittiness of the Switch is just kind of special and magical in its own way. The online is especially retro and nostalgic feeling, like the internet of my childhood
Plus, I've heard if you turn the Switch OLED off and stare at your reflection in the screen for 8 hours, you can see the future

To be fair, Streets of Rage 4 is incredible. One of the very best games of the generation. Regardless of platform, everyone should try it.

Bought Quake and that is also fucking amazing in portable mode. I'm baffled at the negativity towards the Switch from some corners. Given that I'm totally unbiased, more of a PS guy, been playing games for over 30 years, I think my opinion is pretty legit and the sales numbers give backup to that. The Switch is absolute class.

No-one is saying it's not a good little tablet. But more power would make it better. Literally everything anyone likes about the way it works would be improved with more. Games would look and perform better. That you don't think it needs it while upgrading to a better version doesn't make your opinion "legit", it makes it daft. Give it more grunt and it'd sing louder.

I was just messing. I'm not negative towards the Switch, I don't really care about it one way or the other. It's a console to play the games I enjoy on. Those games would look even better if the Switch was as powerful as a PS5 and I'd be able to play more third party games on it. Unless it's first party, I'll always check to see if there are any performance issues before buying something, even indie games, because it's not a given they'll run without problems. The Switch verion of Bloodstained is bad. Since my only physical interaction with the console itself is to change a cartridge, the sacrifice of power for portability means very little to me
You say you're unbiased but your comments do some across as fanboyish and console warsy
edit: even the Link's Awakening remake has performance issues

Yeah I love the Switch (its the only games machine I have), but I've been thinking about getting something else as I want to play Witcher in higher res, with higher textures. I also want to play Red Dead Redemption and various other gamnes that people are raving about that the Switch just can't hack. Its great for what it is, but its not an X Box Series X.

I'm old and use the switch as a kind of retro machine with some modern 'old' games to compliment.
As such I'd rather just have a better battery.

I too have these feelings, but then I think can I play Witcher 3 on the sofa while my gf watches some ghost programme if I had a PS5 or Series X? I'd play them a hell of a lot less. So good enough graphics it is!

As an owner of both, I'm still opting for Switch versions of games if they are well ported. Gamepass is pretty great though. Red Dead 2, however, not so great. 😅

You'll get this with a power bump, as it'll need more to run. You lose some of the benefit on newer, more power-hungry titles but if you're just sticking to retro stuff then that won't matter.

I've not got £500 hanging around anyway, so it was window shopping I was doing this weekend. The Switch will have to do for a while longer. Besides, there are no Series X's around even if I did have the money.

I think the general fawning over the OLED model has shown that there is definitely demand for a more premium product. So yeah, while the Switch is great and the majority of 1st-party games do run really well on it, I am still disappointed that the OLED model still has the same hardware that's nearly half a decade old now, and wasn't exactly cutting edge when it released either.

As outlier as it may sound, my main want from a new switch is a better fucking eshop. It's so fucking shit.

I bought an Xbox and after an initial infatuation I'm back to the so called shitty switch more often than not. The library is amazing and the convenience of docked and handheld play never gets old. Add to that the 70 quid price of PS5 games and the lack of exclusives on Xbox there are plenty of reasons to own a switch even today. I've flipped between switch games and next gen games and to be honest It doesn't feel like a major leap to me. It's not like the Wii to 360 days when the difference was stark. Of course the new gen stuff looks amazing but I still think many switch games look great enough for me. I never understand the obsession with power. Games running at 30fps in 1080p or 720 on the smaller screen can and do still play great. Maybe it's my age

I don't think I've ever not known what game I'm after and just searched for it on any console store. Do people just browse them looking for random games to buy?

Particularly the sale section. In fact, quite often I enjoy the random purchases more than the ones I've coveted. My expectations are rarely met. Tales of Iron us a good example of a suprise hit recently

Maybe it's my age The big problem being, quite a lot of recent major Switch games don't hit 1080p or 720 - including first party. Nor do they lock to 30fps let alone 60. Nintendo used to be all about consistent performance and now we have Zelda and Mario games with choppy performance (and poor IQ) The fact that happens at all with those two franchises speaks volumes about why a more powerful Switch would be appreciated. I love my Switch, botw is probably my favourite game ever and seeing videos of it running at 4k60 on emulators makes me pine for a Switch 2. And I totally don't get the "stop moaning, it's fine as it is" perspective - we'd never get new hardware. Zelda OoT was "fine as it is".

I’m no fanboy, I adore my PS5, but I think there’s a few Switch games that look better than certain PS5 games. BotW for starters is beautiful, simply gorgeous on the OLED in handheld. I don’t give a crap about whoever is the best. Xbox has a couple of brilliant games coming soon. Still having a blast on Quake. Forgot how genius the level design was. Gotta reduce X and Y sensitivity on handheld though.

It’s fine to want a 4K Switch with better hardware too. I have an OLED LG 55”, so I for one would benefit.
My only point, personally, is that I’m 10/10 happy with it, having shitloads of fun and don’t really notice the need for more power. Nintendo games don’t seem to warrant it (although I admit Zelda LA stutters too much).
Everything just, works. Looks good and is great fun. What are they going to do, start bringing us graphics like the PS5? I’m happy with basic Nintendo style graphics with beautiful artwork.
