Anyone tried the Densha De GO! Game on Switch with the train control peripheral? A reasonably priced unit is being waved under my nose and I’m getting flashbacks to the joy of Dreamcast peripheral gaming and I kinda want it. Talk me down from the ledge. No, but I did buy this a few weeks ago when it was on sale. £45 now which is silly money. I paid £17.99: www.nintendo.com/en-gb/Games/Nintendo-Switch-download-software/Japanese-Rail-Sim-Hakone-Town-of-Natural-Beauty-and-Hot-Springs-2643937.htmlIt's one of those games that's strangely addictive despite being kind of rubbish as a game. Saying that, I played the series loads on the 3ds. I mean, all you're really doing is slowing and speeding up a video but getting the train to be bang on time is challenging and has that one more go appeal.

Why do I find myself wasting hours lazily playing Vampire Survivors on the sofa? It's a decent game but a terrible use of my gaming time. I have more meaningful gaming to be getting on with, but no, it's always half an hour of VS to unlock another weapon or character. I should delete it and not look back!

I’m pretty sure this is what my partner did with Animal Crossing, having gone from physical to digital in the past, but I’ll need to double check with her. How did it go?

It worked! It even occurred across two Switches. That is to say she had a physical copy of the game on her old Switch lite, but played a digital copy on her standard Switch. She apparently also did the same with Splatoon 2. Went from ohysical to digital and the save file worked as if it had always been tied to a digital copy.

Just completed the Marth paralogue in Fire Emblem: Echoes
Obviously went straight for the chests in room at the lower left of the map (and got everything). Then decided to hold out there for the rest of the fight and aggro Marth with Lyn's special to bring him to me. The infinitely spawning wyverns meant by the end of the fight there were at least 50 of them surrounding the room I was in, with me blocking the only way in. No weapon equipped so they'd just group up and prevent Marth or anyone dangerous getting close to me, then just killed everything that needed killing - and wasn't a wyvern - with ranged attacks
Nearly killed the Switch. Framerate took a dive and it needed a few seconds each turn to think about what to do (spawn more wyverns)
But I won

Sounds like the final mission in the first Advance Wars game, except that one doesn’t have any performance dips.

I’m finally playing Zelda TOTK as I’ve some time off work. Being able to sit down and enjoy this without time constraints or teenagers telling me all the secrets is really rather nice.
It makes a change from my usual competitive gaming habits too.
That said, I’ve also discovered Tetris 99, which I’m loving. Haven’t managed to top 7th place yet.

Tetris 99 is fantastic and the offline DLC is worth the price if you like the old Marathon mode.
When you do get your first win, they’ll come way more frequently.

I have a love/hate relationship with TOTK. I play it with my boy a lot at the moment but:
Shittest opening level ever. Some of the shittest bosses ever(Mukturok). Shittest implementation rain ever. Shittest inventory management ever. Link is an absolute dick early game, swimming and climbing like a 90 year old.
But it’s still Zelda so….

FWIW rain is much more manageable in TotK than it was in BotW. You get actual anti-slip armour and elixirs this time around, for one (instead of having to rely on the upgraded Climbing Gear and hoping you outpace it), and thanks to the floating platforms you can eventually find and deploy at will you can also build a fire pretty much anywhere (with a bit of wood and anything fiery, but those are found everywhere) and rest, to make it go away As for Link having lost everything re: hearts/stamina, he did get blasted by a concentrated force powerful enough to... well it's in the opening but I still don't want to spoil it, so it makes sense he's out of sorts Mucktorok sucked though, no question.

As much as I’m enjoying TOTK, I still stand by my initial reaction that the fusing and crafting is a massive distraction to the discovery of BoTW. Everything is so stop start at the moment (still early stages) with having to craft weapons constantly on the fly to battle bigger enemies. Really breaks the flow.
