Yep, we're not getting any younger... Just enjoy the shiny new(ish) OLED while you can, then enjoy whatever new shit they bring out in a year or two.

The next Switch has been almost coming out for the last 3 years or more. Just get an OLED, the screen is nice.

Was just coming here to tell you all how excited I am to have just bought a Switch Lite. Wow, you guys really killed my mood with this OLED talk. Anyways, it's my first Nintendo hardware since the original DS. Justified it to the misses on the basis of an extended upcoming trip abroad, so I'll have some games to play while I'm away. I've loaded it up with Xenoblade (the first one), Slay the Spire and Into the Breach. Looking forward to finally playing Breath of the Wild at some point too, and seeing what all the fuss is about. Just hope I can cope with the tiny, inferior screen.

Get Mini Motorways on that bad boy too.
It's a great little console, and you've got a wealth of cracking games to catch up on.

Mario Rabbids should always be in everyone’s initial list of must plays.

Currently enjoying Robot Named Fight an absolute blatant Metroid ripoff but random roguelike. Got it for 99p and totally getting my moneys worth.

The screens for the regular and lite models are nice. Don't even think about it. Everything also looks smoother of that lite screen, so you wont see the pixel edges as much on any less optimised games.
Personally, I'd recommend Mario Kart, Mario Rabbids and something like Metroid Dread or Luigi's Mansion 3 to start with, but there's so much to recommend depending on your general gaming tastes.

However I am finding it hard to adjust to a much bigger handheld. As others have said loads of games. You started off with some good ones. I had issues with drift. If not I probably would have just stuck with the lite.

Just hope I can cope with the tiny, inferior screen. I've had a Switch since launch, so if I were to buy a second, I'd *much* rather get the Lite over the OLED. The launch Switch's screen is lovely and vibrant enough for me, and it's already too large. I don't need the half inch or whatever larger screen. Portability and a better d-pad appeal to me much more. That is all to say, I find your Lite purchase exciting. 👀 By now I'll keep waiting on a new console though. These have been out for so long, I know a month after I get mine they'll reveal the new one.

It always keeps coming up, however I can't see a new console being announced any time soon. Just no need.
Selling still at pretty much full price, along with all the manufacturing issues.
The 360 did 10 years......
Along with the fact I never buy a console on its first year was defo worth it.

It's like the Switch thread's version of the Alien³ discussion.
I've caved and got a lightly used OLED arriving soon for £230, as I seem to be playing my Switch a heck of a lot more than the uncomfortably bulky Steam Deck. Makes sense to sell that and just get the best current version of the Switch instead.

I've been playing dungeons of deadrock. Simple top down view of exploring and solving 100 levels. It's mainly puzzle solving with some light combat. While it's not brilliant, I still keep coming back to it for a "few more levels"

Bloody hell, the OLED really is a lovely bit of kit! Pictures just don't do it justice. I'm going to turn into one of those insufferable wankers who mentions how nice new game X looks on it every chance they get.
Had a bit of a brown trouser moment when the right joycon failed to work after disconnecting it, but just a dead battery thankfully. Also a classic bit of Nintendo not letting you just plop the SD card from the old machine into the new one. At least the save transfer isn't totally rubbish.

Yeah, when I got mine I wasn't expecting that much but the colours really pop. When people ask if it's worth it I just boot up the old one and let them look at the dashboard side-by-side.
It's not vital but I wouldn't choose to go back and I wouldn't buy into a lesser model at his point.

Do people go with vivid or standard mode? Vivid almost melts my eyes but does look "brighter"
Standard feels more "natural"

Probably going against the grain here, but I keep mine on standard. I find vivid a bit too garish looking on some games tbh.

I mean I sort of understand the reason and it's probably the right thing to do but I want to play it so badly.

Allegedly they plan to release it with absolutely no promotion or fanfare. That is to say they wont even announce it's release date until its available, if they even bother to do that.

Just do me a collection of all the Zelda games in one box, original and remastered, then do the same for Metroid.

But then they'd have to charge 60 quid for it all and they know they would make way more selling them all separately for 60 quid.
