Good thing about the high price of nintendo games is they rarely lose value that much. So at least if you move it on it doesn't actually cost that much.

I'm hoping my Wii and Wii U collection go up in price soon. I've got most of the essentials and a fair few harder to find games. I might need the money if the world continues to head in the same direction!

To be fair you didn't have to. It's humorous because the state of world is such that we don't appear to be far off complete collapse of all civilisation.
Then the on topic discussion about the gaining value of some old console games and then BAM
A funny joke about bargaining yourself out of serial assaults.
Or maybe I'm just not funny haha

In regards to Switch stuff, I'm back to playing Dragon Quest XI. I put it down just before my last flat move, which was a complete nightmare, so I'm actually glad I put it down. I don't want to be reminded of all that nonsense every time I boot it up.
I forgot how nice it looks. The image is still a little soft, but the artwork, lighting and animations all shine through. It looks especially nice in portable mode, which is the best way to play RPGs generally.

Anyone got a pro controller? Heard the d pad is questionable? Torn between the 8 bit do pro, the new 8bit pro coming out in October or nintendos official offering.

I've got an 8bitdo Pro 2 and it's great. Never used the official Pro Controller though.
Can vouch for the Hori Split as well.

Does the pro 2 have rumble?

Can't turn the console on with the 8bit controller, which always annoyed me

Yeah heard about that, not sure be a deal breaker. Would just tap the joy con. Pro 2 seems to get very good reviews. Like that you can tinker it on the app

Does the pro 2 have rumble? Basic rumble, not the rumble you get on the joycons or the pro controller.

Picked up Kirby and The Forgotten Land earlier in the week. It’s a lot of fun, it’s basically more 3D Land/World Mario wrapped up in a Kirby charm. Plays great too. Only playing a couple of levels here and there but yeah good stuff.
Looking forward to the autumns months, cozying up and playing on the switch. Been in a bit of a gaming lull lately so hopefully I find something to grab me back in.

Can't turn the console on with the 8bit controller, which always annoyed me Does it not turn on by pressing and holding the Home button for a bit (or whatever the equivalent button is on the 8bit) like the Switch pro? Feels a bit odd for it to be working fine except for that...

Nope. I had a pro controller so used that to switch it on and then had to switch to the 8bit pad every time after through the console. Was a pain

Huh. You'd think someone would have raised the issue...
Probably wouldn't be too much of a bother for me personally if I used one (we usually keep the controllers close to the consoles anyway) but it's still annoying
Does it also not turn other stuff on or is it just the Switch that refuses?

If it was easy I'm sure they'd include it, it's probably a patent that nintendo have that's prohibitively expensive.

I also have an 8bit do pro 2 and can vouch for how good it is. I did briefly use the official Pro controller, but one game of Tetris 99 proved the d-pad was hopeless. I was getting huge amounts of ghost inputs, with it occurring every couple of minutes. As I use the d-pad on controllers all the time for menuing and 2d platformers, that was a massive no-no for me, so instantly looked for alternatives.
Not had an issues with the 8bit controller, besides not being able to turn on the console with it being a bit of a pain. Some of the build quality isn't quite there compared to official offerings either, with buttons being quite loose and with a noticeable rattle. Pretty minor issues though.

For what its worth I've never had issues with the Pro Controllers D-Pad. I'm a big fan of the controller generally, though tend to stick with the Joy Con for the most part. I really only use it on games with precise camera control, like FPS games or Rocket League.

Wave Race 64 is pretty good isn't it? Never played it before and it's held up quite well, technical shortcomings aside, and I can just imagine how amazing it must have seemed at launch. Yet another Nintendo series you'd think would be ripe for a return at some stage...
Looking forward to seeing other N64 games I missed out on coming to the service, like 1080 Snowboarding. Though would be better if the N64 had a CRT filter and some other basic options, but Nintendo.

I wasn't a fan of 1080, personally. I remember prefering Cool Boarders 3 and 4 considerably more. Wave Race though, has aged amazingly well. Its very satisfying to control.

I really only use it on games with precise camera control, like FPS games or Rocket League. I much prefer the Pro Controller to the JoyCons, full stop. The D-Pad is great. Especially compared to the arrow buttons on the JoyCons, but compared to PlayStation controllers also. I'd put the Series X's d-pad above that, but that's largely because I prefer circular 8-direction Sega-style d-pads over the plus-shaped 4-direction Nintendo-style, but for what it is, it feels good and is reliable. The battery on the Pro Controller is incredible too.

The battery life on the pro controller is wizardry.

Yeah, that thing is nuts. I can't really comment on the dpad. It's there and it works fine for any games I've tried, but I've never tried to pull off a dragon punch on it, so can't really recommend or dissuade...
Battery life is fucking mega and it's a damn fine controller. The Splatoon themed one is also ridiculously garish and I love it.

Throwing my two cents in for the Pro controller as well, been using it pretty much exclusively since we got the console (and if the play stats are to be believed that's a lot of hours...) and I've never had an issue with it.
