I wonder if they will reduce the other two beforehand or at the same time as I wouldn't mind picking them up for the Switch having ditched my Wii U

I see they are apparently releasing a limited number of Bayonetta 1 physicals just before it too after it previously only being a part of a Japanese only collectors edition. Will watch the B3 trailer when I get home though.

Looks good, just need that hardware reveal now The way they are just randomly dropping bits of information for the end of year releases suggests to me they may have a bigger direct planned. With splatoon 3, Xenoblade 3 and BOTW2 looking a bit nicer than what we would expect I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw Switch 2/pro soon.

Well considering I just bought an OLED one, I sort of hope they don't immediately announce the successor.

Its a tough call, but I do think we might see a successor next year, rather than a pro. Like with the DSi and the 'new' 2DS XL, they always tend to release one last revision a year before a new platform launch.
Apparently Xeno 3 is running on current hardware though and Splatoon 3, which is currently their biggest 1st party release, doesn't look a world away from the 2nd game, visually. They've just had a lot more time to optimise these games this time around.

Yeah, with XC2 you could obviously tell that they hadn't had much time with the hardware. That's why Torna Country looked so much nicer, and I'm sure XC3 will look similarly good.

I’ve no idea if it’ll be marketed as a Pro or successor, doesn’t really matter. Can imagine spring 2023 would be likely with botw 2 but the sooner the better!

I still reckon end of 2023 is the earliest, with 2024 being more likely. Almost certainly not this year and feels like they would want to be announcing fairly soon for spring next year.
It still doesn't feel that long ago that they dismissed rumours by saying the Switch was only halfway through its life (was that last year?). 7 years between the Switch and a successor, with a year or two of still supporting the original seems about right to me.

I started a replay of Mario vs. Rabbids a few days ago, as part of my quest to actually complete games that I never got round to finishing (I bought it on release and got to somewhere in world 3). I see the season pass is on sale now, I'm assuming it's a no-brainer for £4? The DKC DLC seems to be quite well-received.

The DK DLC is excellent and DK alone changes up the strategy quite a lot. I would recommend beating the campaign first though, just in case you feel you need a break after the main game as its about 10 - 15 hours extra.
The DLC goes on sale often, so hardly a risk either way.

Quite tempted by that but that cart for the original game is in my MIA switch case that I can't find bloody anywhere.
Along with Bayo 2 which I've been meaning to pick up again.

Plus I will get some extra weapons and shit that might come in handy!

Fair enough. It is on par with the main game, in regards to quality. I didn't regret it. Easily one of my favourite Switch games.

Is there any issue with buying used Switch cartridges? (Specifically minecraft). They're not going to be locked to an account or anything, right?

I have a second hand copy of Fire Emblem and Astral Chain bought from CEX. Admittedly only played the former, but had no problem with it.
So, should be fine, unless there is some kind of extras you can download, which I can't imagine Minecraft has.

I've bought loads. Surprisingly a lot of people don't redeem the points and the codes inside! Got lucky with Disco Elysium (which was the limited run games version) and the points/code worked.

I reckon 2024 at the earliest for a Switch ‘2’.
Why would they need to do it any sooner given sales are through the roof right now. I mean, the only reason would be to cannibalise your own product which is exactly what Apple do with their next iterations (coming so soon after the latest ‘great’ product).

To be fair, it will have been six years next spring, plus there's a chance BotW 2 and other future games (as of yet unannounced) are just too much for the original to handle.
I know they're (hopefully) proving us wrong with Xeno 3 (although even that would probably run a bit better on the superior hardware even being made for the original) but I could see a Switch 2 sometime next year.

Got Live A Live today which I forgot I preordered, whoops.
Likely won't touch it for ages as about 15 hours into KOTOR but Xenoblade 3 on the horizon now (season pass stuff auto downloaded today!), but another spanner in the works is my Steam Deck should be here any day and I've been waiting for it to play Trails in the Sky 2 and 3...too many huge JRPGs at the same time!

I'd like to pick up Live A Live at some point. Still making my way through Disco.

Played a little of the demo of Live A Live (just the Chinese character) and seems like it will be worth playing. Eurogamer's review also indicated that it wasn't huge, which is good as I normally find the size off-putting in other JRPGs. The bite sized chunks also likely lends itself to dipping in and out.
Will probably finish off the demo and likely pick up the full thing at some point.

Trails from Zero is proably my most anticipated Switch game ATM, not long now. Only played the fan-translated PSP ISO before, and absolutely loved it. New trailer from the other day:

New trailer from the other day: Despite actually buying the Japanese PC version to legitimately play the fan translation, I didn't get around to playing it very far. Should run nicely enough on Switch and be worth doubledipping too. I do have an odd format mix of Trails games though with my TitS series on PC (along with Zero), Cold Steel 1 and 2 on PS3/Vita (would have bought PS4 updates but some PS5 bugs apparently... I do want the Japanese voices though...). And got CS3 and 4 on PS4 due to Switch performance sounding iffy. Leaves me deciding between Zero and Azure on Switch or PC as could be good on Steam Deck if they end up working (or I relent and install Windows...). First world decisions...

I played CS3 and 4 on Switch and there were a couple of locations where the framerate tanked (parts of Crossbell, mainly) and CS3 crashed more than I would like, but most of the time it was fine CS1 and 2 I played on Vita, everything else on PSP. I really wish the Sky trilogy would emerge from licensing hell so we could play them on modern systems in English
