I was assuming all the times you have to make midair shots would be tricky without the mouse, expecially as it's hard for them to add autoaim when you're just aiming at walls.
The final section where you're jumping from platform to platform while shooting portals seems like it'd be tricky with a controller.
But good to hear that that doesn't seem to be the case.

Yup, it's exactly that one I thought I'd have trouble with - chamber 18. But all you need to do is rotate the right analog stick until it's in the right place, and then when you're ready you can just throw the portal without having to aim as you can keep portalling between them ad infinitum until you're ready to go
Last chamber has a bit of it too, but it's fine

Still can't see how to get all the cameras though. Some are mounted on walls that don't accept portals.
And I'm sure there was something you could do with the radio's as well.
Been too long!
I've just got past the fire now - so I'm going to take my time with the explory bits as I love the sense of the behind-the-scenes thing. Valve are ace at this.

HOW ARE YOU GENTLEMEN !! ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US. New Genesis/Mega Drive games added to Switch Online Expansion pack. The original meme, Zero Wing, available to play. It's actually a good shooter, goofy translation aside. Comix Zone is great too.

They're both new again on Switch, so why not?

Just finished portal 1. So bloody good.
Dunno whether to move straight to portal 2 or have a breather on something else for a bit

Just beat Egil and on chapter 15. It's more a me problem, as long games I can struggle with. You might want to keep a save from before clearing the next area, just in case. There's a point coming up soon (you'll know when you see it) where a lot of stuff expires and a lot of new stuff appears, so having a backup is a good precaution. If you still have the chapter start save that's good enough.

Oh, by the way you should get a quest named "A weapon for Fiora" very soon, which can only be completed during chapter 15. It's not too big of a deal if you miss it, just something to look out for snackplissken

Dunno whether to move straight to portal 2 or have a breather on something else for a bit I love both, though prefer 1, but I found that by the end of 2 it was beginning to wear out its welcome. So I vote for having a break first. The thing I really want to do is play the coop of Portal 2. I had no-one to play it with when it came out so I had to implment a long term plan of having sprogs to grow some portal 2 coop partners. That plan may be about to come to fruition. But I can't find any definitive info on crossplay. I guess we could do it splitscreen...

Yeah think you're right. Going to have a break and play something else.
Hah, yes, I want to do the coop too. I reckon it'd be fun split screen. Nearly bought another Pro controller. Still might and ask my mate to have a go

If you get working on having kids, you should have a portal 2 co-op partner in about 11-12 years.

That’s not ‘that’ old for a bloke to have kids!
Nearly finished Portal 1 after a busy week. They’ve done a great job with this port (no pun intended).

Sidequests that unlock skill trees, areas like Tephra Cave's second half, the whole business with the High Entia Emblem and the chambers it unlocks... That's impressive if you managed to grab all that in just a few days Also there's Future Connected if you haven't done it yet.

I had to draw a line under both Xenoblade 1 and 2, just to make time for other games. I think Xenoblade 2 was the only game I played for a good 3 months when it first came out.

Oh I know I think if I was in my teens/20s I'd probably be addicted to it but now I'm a jaded late 30s... I've got to go I've had my fill for the time being. I'll definitely be back when I get the itch.

Was considering making an eShop sale thread for recommendations and alerts, but I don't think there are too many Switch fans on this forum, right? Haha.
Either way, Spelunky 2 is currently just a smidge over a tenner for anyone interested. I can complete the original quite comfortably now, so I think its a good time to dip into the tougher sequel. I have it on gamepass, but find myself playing the original on Switch every time I get the itch to play it.

Yeah, I'd definitely check out an eshop sales thread. The store itself is a bit rubbish and easy to miss stuff if it's not in top sellers. I'd say go for it.
Annoyingly I've managed to lose a SD card and a switch case in our last house move, so will have to spend the evening searching for that or just suck it up and buy them again.

A nice spoiler-free (some broad strokes about the introductory hours aside) preview of Xenoblade 3 from the old place: www.eurogamer.net/after-10-hours-i-think-im-nearing-the-end-of-xenoblade-chronicles-3s-tutorialReads as about what I expected, story-wise if there is a connection with the previous ones it won't be revealed until later in the game and otherwise it can stand on its own (much like the connection between 1 and 2) The tutorials seem to follow 2's style of extending them over several hours of gameplay, rather than giving you most everything from the start, and the combat system itself is apparently a more refined and expanded version of 2's as well, although obviously there's new mechanics to be had (such as an auto-battle option for minor enemies, to let you see how things play out). Most importantly (for me at least) it seems to be much better technically and visually compared to the previous entries, since Monolith Soft now has much more experience with the hardware. Bodes well for BotW 2, as well... All in all, it looks to be bigger and better than the previous entries, if with a bit of a slow start. Think it's about time I started the ass temps crank...

Gah... Xeno 3 is on my wanted list, but I stupidly got back into BOTW, which put DQXI on the back-burner, which means its gonna be a loooong time before I find the time play it. It looks amazing though. It really does.

Sounds like just jumping straight to Xeno 3 would be fine, but also sounds like going back to 2 afterwards would make the systems disappointing.
So, think I'll go with 2 first. Still have my extra copy of Splatoon 2 to CEX, so probably get Xeno 2 with the credits.

Still have my extra copy of Splatoon 2 to CEX, so probably get Xeno 2 with the credits. I'm going to mention a bit of a trap for newer players since you're starting 2, actually. It doesn't have anything to do with the story but I'll put it behind spoiler tags in case you don't want to read it. Early on, you get a sidequest about feeding a baby Ardun, with it growing bigger and stronger as you go and requiring foods found in later areas. Whatever you do, don't engage it in combat (you can target it as an enemy, hence the trap) until it grows to its final stage and you can no longer feed it. If you leave it alive and fully raise it, it turns into a powerful Unique monster that you can respawn at will (as with all Uniques in 2) that's one of the best farming spots for lategame Exp, weapon chips and Legendary Blade cores. With a typical Launch->Smash spam setup (every Smash triggers the enemy to drop items as if it was defeated and you can Smash enemies as much as you want until they die), it helps immensely with getting all the rare Blades.
Edit: Said farming spot becomes even better if you have the DLC, as the enemy modifier sliders let you multiply the Unique's HP by a lot and reduce its aggression to nil, maximizing the amount of Launch to Smash combos you can do while minimizing the risk.

Just read that EG article on Xeno 3 (was going to comment but can't sign in and won't recognise my old account at all because of some Reedpop thing so that's officially the end of any Eurogamer interaction for me), bloody excited for the game I must say.
So pleased I ploughed through 2 and Torna this year. Read a lot of good things about X so surely just a matter of time until that comes to Switch eventually.

So pleased I ploughed through 2 and Torna this year. Read a lot of good things about X so surely just a matter of time until that comes to Switch eventually. There's apparently a leaked battle theme from 3 titled (edit: no story spoilers in the song title, just a reference and a vague implication) "You Will Know Our Names (Finale)" (Xeno 1 reference, the unique monster theme there had the same name) so there's a slight implication that Xeno 3 will be the end of at least the overarching storyline of 1, 2 and 3 (I doubt they'll end Xenoblade as a whole just yet, considering how popular it is now). Meaning there's actually a good chance (if the above is true) that they'll next pick up the loose threads Xeno X left for an X2, and if that happens they'd be idiots not to port the original, especially since the online aspects can now be utilised far better (and get them cash ) Grains of salt on all of the above, of course.
