Netflix picking up some good games. Moonlighter, spiritfarer and now into the breach So what, you play them on Switch through an active Netflix account?

Seeing rumours that there might well be a Direct this Thursday. Also seeing rumours that it will be a third party one, which is less interesting. Third and final rumour is that it might include some Persona news.

Seeing as Xbox and PC are getting P3P/P5R soon, I'd imagine it'll just be the announcement of those and P4G for Switch too. Fingers crossed it's something a bit juicer, but I'd be happy with that.

Completely unexpected but very welcome news - there is a pretty substantial-looking free content update for Into The Breach coming on July 19th: This would be very welcome if I could get beyond about 2 islands and have a chance of seeing it. How can a game that shows me exactly what's going to happen make me have so many "shit! No! I didn't want to do that!!" moments It helped me to see it as basically a puzzle game. That and to prioritise getting weapon cores as mission and island rewards over basically anything else. That and avoiding train missions lol.

Well, the rumours always tend to get the important details wrong, like the date and subject matter, but there is officially a Mini Direct tomorrow.
Its focused on 3rd party games, which is unsuprising given we have Xenoblade 3, Splatoon 3 and Pokemon all due in the next few months. A new Fire Emblem just launched today, so 1st party output is already way ahead of the other platforms this year.
No idea what they might show though. Mario Rabbids is technically 3rd Party. Bayonetta 3 is still dated 2022. Persona could well be on the way with the recent announcement of Xbox ports. If Silksong did happen to get a release date that may cheer some folk up.
Either way, it should be pretty decent. The last few have been solid, if unspectacular.

I loved MP1, and then never played the other 2. Not sure why. I think it was just really hard work, and by the time I'd finished 1 I didn't have the energy to start another one.
The lack of any real plot of characters also meant there was no real narrative drive to see what happened next.
Wouldn't pay big bucks for a remaster, but would pick it up in a sale. I'd be more interested in the sequels at this point though.

One of my all time fave games, so I'll be on board for buying it a fourth time. It plays fantastically well in emulated form though.
If they put serious amounts of effort in then I guess I'm ok with a full price release, but if 2/3 are minimal effort jobs in comparison they'd better be priced appropriately.

The problem for me is that it'll never play as good as the GC version due to the GC controller triggers being essential to the experience. I never really enjoyed the wii version.

It played perfectly well for me on an Xbox controller as I couldn't be arsed going into the loft to find my GC controller and adapter. I'd say it'll be just fine on a pro controller, maybe less so on the fiddly little things.
I never really enjoyed the motion controls of MP3, so keen to play that again eventually without them.

Loved them all but MP the best, one of my all time favourite games so I'll be all over this. Ideally It'll launch with upgraded hardware and lots of shinier. Shame,if true, that the whole series isn't being fully remastered. A strange decision but Nintendo are good at those.

Has anyone played either of the FAR games on the switch? I've just bought them and wondered how they play? Looked good from the vids and reviews

Not really a surprise, but Persona games confirmed for Switch, with 5 Royal in October.
I'll likely play it on PC through Game Pass (as well as actually already owning the non-Royal version on PlayStation), but good that it has finally been let out of of the Sony cage.
Pretty good Direct actually, even if it isn't first party.

The DQXI Erik spin-off looked good, as did Harvestella and Pac-Man World Re-Pac.

I thought that Pac Man looked good too, although wasn't familiar with the original it is a remaster of. I was under the impression that Pac Man hasn't had a good game since Ms. Pac Man

Yeah pacman was weirdly the stand out for me, too. Never heard of the original and I have no idea how that can have been any good on the PS1.

Ho-lee shit, that Sonic game looks graphically bloody awful Looks no better than Sonic Colours on the Wii which was 2 generations ago. An embarassment Pretty meh Direct IMO, mostly low-effort or ports of old games. Harvestella looked OKish. Really new the new hardware to arrive, games look so low res and outdated now

Live A Live demo up on the eShop, for anyone interested. Out 22/07.
Pretty good Direct overall. Feels kind of weird that the likes of Nier Automata and Persona 5 can run natively whereas Kingdom Hearts had to be cloud-bound (at least the original, 3 I can see why), but maybe there's something I'm not understanding about the whole process.
Is the Bayonetta series considered second-party to Nintendo now? Because I would have liked to see some news about Bayo 3...

Weird on the Bayonetta situation. It is until it isn't. You could argue it is because 2 and 3 were exclusive and published by Nintendo, but so was Wonderful 101 and that was ported to PS4 and Steam. And there was the Bayo + Vanquish 10th Anniversary Collection on PS4 and XB1. Thanks for the tip on Live A Live btw. And obviously KH couldn't be ported because PS2 games are harder to port than PS4. I actually think Nomura's team is just kind of incompetent, considering how often his projects have troubled development

Mario Rabbids! That's all I needed and it looks awesome! Blanc looked nice. As did the Monkey Island game.
Not fussed about the many ports to be honest. Except maybe No Mans Sky if it runs well. I don't even have interest in playing those on my Xbox. Sonic Frontiers was a clear step down, but that trailer did more to sell the game than anything IGN showed off. So bizarre.

Am I going to buy Portal Collection... Oh yes! Don't suppose there's any chance of it having crossplay with the PC version? Cos I've been wanting to do co-op Portal 2 for a decade!
