Edit: in reference to Spooky's Resi comments. Think I got muddled and thought the comment was in the Resident Evil thread!
I played 5 for the first time through co-op sometime last year and it certainly isn't terrible, even if it does pale in comparison to 4. The final boss fight is absolutely abysmal though and left me with a sourness about the whole thing.
Also thought VII was a bit of a let down. I liked the atmosphere and the general exploration moments, but the bits where you are being hunted by family members just felt like terrible imitations of Alien: Isolation. The boss fights were awful too. I ended up giving up on it maybe not even halfway through. Perhaps it got better, but I was definitely disappointed after thinking it looked like an interesting new direction.

I got Panzer Dragoon for $4. Seems like fun. Tempted by Resi 4 or 5 for $15, but I have so much that I haven't even started, including BotW and Dread.

I've nearly bought Panzer Dragoon in the last few sales... I really can't decide if I'd enjoy it, or get bored after 10 minutes.

My logic was that if I did get bored after ten minutes then that's 40¢ a minute, which is still cheaper than the arcade machines I thrashed in the '90s. And that's without calculating inflation!
Anyone play Ruiner? Or Citizen Sleeper? I want something that will scratch my cyberpunk itch.

Panzer Dragoon is great. Citizen Sleeper looks cool, but I've not tried it yet.

If you're on PC and have been grabbing epic freebies then i think they gave away Ruiner at some point.

See that there is a Xenoblade Direct tomorrow. I was expecting that to get a little more publicist, considering it is out very soon, so not really surprising. I was really hoping for a full Direct though, in this month of gaming announcements. Seems increasingly unlikely.

For anybody wondering, Falls Guys plays pretty decently on Switch, both portably and on the TV. Its definitely 30fps, but the image is sharp and the controls feel just as responsive as the other versions of the game. I managed to win a game on my 3rd attempt against a ton of PC players, so its very playable.
The one major thing to note is that player animations (besides your own), are running at around 8-16fps. Its very low. It kinda looks like stop-animation; very choppy, but bizarrely it doesn't impact the actual gameplay. The players are still moving/traversing around the levels smoothly. Its only their animations that are choppy.
Its a clever solution. In a weird way it has a charm to it, but given how much you need to focus on yourself, its not really distracting.
Also, your achievements/trophies in-game will carry over to other platforms automatically. I booted up my Series X this morning and had 7 achievements pop from my earlier stint playing on Switch.

I can recommend the Clutter games if you like hidden object games - the latest one is on sale with 1100 puzzles; I know they are not for everyone but its very relaxing (when you switch off the timer) & strangely compelling matching items & there are some very good & inventive twists on the formula

If I hadn't already played the first few Xenoblades, I'm not sure I'd be hyped after today's presentation. The framerate during battle is atrocious, and I think the whole thing about people in this world having a life expectancy of 10 would put me off. But I have played previous Xenos, and I know story and character is where it excels. And fusion ha-ing into kamen riders that have a sword surfing attack is cool.

Haven’t seen the direct yet but I think the first Xenoblade has finally got it hooks into me. I say think because who knows what tomorrow brings but played it for about 3 hours yesterday and enjoyed every minute of it. Looking forward to playing some more this evening. Currently at Eryth Sea and about to go into the tomb. The story has picked up considerably in the last couple of hours.
Really enjoyed the second one, thought I play this and torna before I jump into three. Liked the initial few hours I put in but I think I just got distracted by other games (which I’ve seemingly bounced of all of them) and it just sat there as I struggled to put in half n hour into it. Installed it and uninstalled it a couple of times as it wasn’t really grabbing me but I think and hopefully, it finally has.

Sucks to hear about the frame rate, but I'm holding off a while anyways. Got Dragon Quest XI, BotW Master Mode and a second stab at Red Dead 2 all on the go, so I definitely can't squeeze in another beefy game.

I just watched (or rather, mostly listened) to the direct. Seems pretty good. I like the sound of fusion arts and seems there are a few other interesting twists. I've not played 2, but seems like they have mixed things up since 1. I also like that you can have a bigger party, so I don't have to leave characters out.
Don't think I will jump on this at launch, as I only just finished 1 (if you think the story picks up around Eryth Sea, just you wait!). It will probably be a few months until I play more of the series, but do you think I should play 2 or just go straight for 3? (Appreciate it probably isn't an easy question to answer, seeing as 3 isn't out)

Deffo saving XB3 for the next Switch Hardware with better resolution/framerate. Wish they’d hurry up.

Honestly, that combat footage didn't look nearly as bad as I was afraid of. It probably gets worse later on when you really start pushing it with Art combos and the like, but for now quite a few of the pauses looked deliberately placed to add impact to the blows more than unintentional slowdown. It could be better, though... On better hardware, that is, because I'm pretty sure my "it's not so bad" reaction stems at least in part from the fact that I was already worried that base Switch would have trouble with this game in general, and apart from that it's handling it better than I thought, I'd say. This ain't Xenoblade 2 anymore after all, it's much, much bigger Still getting it day one, though. The rest of the plate is delicious (and big, did I mention big?) enough for a bit of framerate sourness not to bother me, and if the Switch 2 handles it more smoothly down the line then so much the better. you'd better put backwards compatibility on switch 2 nintendo

Apart from the story being (I'm guessing) required watching to understand 3 better, it's also just a very good game in its own right, even if it introduces a few systems that could be handled a bit more smoothly/with less complexity.

I'm gonna give the reverse advice. Play 2 if you want to, but so far this series has had tangential references to one another, and that seems to still be the case here. Maybe if you've completed all three of the previous games, you'll see some broader connections that tie them together here, but every game has still been developed to stand on its own.
So if you want to jump straight into 3 when it releases, go ahead. If you do want to complete 1 and get through 2, go ahead and do that also, but don't feel it's necessary to enjoy 3. These are massive games that can easily eat up about 100 hours of your life individually, so it's a big ask to advise someone to play through the previous ones before the new one releases.
If it were a direct sequel, like say, the Mass Effect series, it'd be much easier to recommend playing the earlier titles, but it isn't.

I dunno about that this time... We've already seen the Mechonis' sword and the Fallen Arm in trailers, along with Melia, Nia and Vandham lookalikes. Depending on how all of that factors into the story, it could be more direct than before... (and for the record I never said you must play 2 to enjoy 3, just that it might be necessary to understand some story beats better. If you want to skip it or just watch the story cutscenes you can do that )

Thanks both. I'll wait until 3 is out to see what opinions are like then and whether it is more of a direct sequel than 2 is to 1. Leaning towards just jumping straight into 3, but if it does seem like there will be quite a few story beats that are relevant then I'll do them in order.

Would be nice if they could reprint 2.. That's the problem with waiting on 3, you'll probably end up struggling to find a copy. I tried finding Shin Megami Tensei V a few months after release, and it was all gone.

So my lite (2019) has issues with the left analogue stick. Not quite drift but doesn't register right inputs correctly and it's a right ball ache. Cleaning it fixed it for a bit but now it's a 100% problem.
When calibrating you can see its not got its full motion.
Any one had this problem before? Would it count as a "drift" issue and if I send it off for repair will I have to pay for it etc etc. I had heard on the OG switch they were covering beyond warranty time.
Thanks!

How can a game that shows me exactly what's going to happen make me have so many "shit! No! I didn't want to do that!!" moments
