I loved Hotshot! Time trials alone with the lovely arcade drift mechanic was worth the asking price Loving this, absolute bargain for $7. Thanks for the recommendation. Its brilliant! I might fire it up again!

BotW2 delayed to spring 2023 Bit of a bummer, but gives me a year to play age of calamity. Actually I might buy it today, could do with a break from Elden Ring. Some semi mindless beating the shit out of people should be a good distraction.

Seems as if people are upset that Chrono Cross isn't a full HD remaster. Another classic case of self entitled gamer. It isn't breaking the bank, and finally the EU can play this game.

That's silly. Haven't they seen how Square has treated even their marquee PS1 Final Fantasies? No way this would get better treatment than those. And would they really want Square to give it the full Final Fantasy VII Remake treatment, seeing how long that has taken/is taking to complete?

Age of calamity is really good fun. I’m really enjoying it. I can’t believe it was actually released in the state it is, but the way they incorporated all the elements of breath of the wild is really interesting and really elevates the Musou combat. It super satisfying, you can’t beat a good counter system.
I’m not one to bemoan performance. I kinda roll my eyes at a lot of the nitpicks people have over games, but it’s actually a real shame it is so bad in this. It’s the first time in maybe a couple of generations where I feel it really does hamper the game, it hasn’t in my enjoyment of it, but it’s case of what could have been. If that makes sense. Like a big asterisk. The game deserves better.
At the end of the day I’m enjoying it a lot, I guess that’s all that matters.

Is Chrono Cross good like Chrono Trigger? Or rubbish like all other jrpgs?

According to DF, PS5 running the PS4 version of Chrono Cross runs the same as the Switch version. Same resolution and framedrops. So basically Switch version is the one to get since you gain portability that the PS version obviously lacks.

I've just realised I haven't touched my Switch since late January. Is it a bad idea to keep it docked but not used for such a long time? Yeah same here, if not just before Xmas. I feel like I’m one of those who can’t dedicate time to two consoles. One is good enough for me and since the PS5 started getting good games again I’ve been on that. I need to carve out time in bed to get back on the Switch but that screen isn’t good for the eyes. It needs a warmer night mode.

Do the Xenoblades follow on very much from each other? I really should try to get back to my playthrough of 1, which is probably only about 10 hours in. Doubt I will get to 2 any time soon.

More references than direct continuations, but this one looks more like it's combining elements of both. I guess it's not really a necessity to enjoy an entry though.

Beyond Elma making a probably non-canon appearance in 2 as a DLC Blade, X is its own thing so far. The other two, well... With as few plot details as I can, ending spoilers for... Both 1 and 2, I guess, I put the more detailed one behind double tags. Their final battles seem to take place at roughly the same time. As in, you can hear characters' lines from Xeno 1's last few cutscenes, during some of Xeno 2's (almost) last few cutscenes. It's implied (if not outright confirmed) that Xeno 1 and 2 take place in parallel universes. How Xeno 3 will relate to the above I don't know, but the trailers already show lookalikes of characters from both 1 and 2 that were known to have the potential to live for very long, so if they actually are those characters... who knows.

Seems like it was just lost in translation tbh. Also that open-world concept seems very un-Metroid and would have just suited a different IP altogether - or maybe even Starfox?

uh oh Xeno 3 pushed up to July. I gotta get back to that playthrough soon. So I finally got around to watching the trailer properly... Two main things I took from it: 1) The music and characters definitely have hints from both Xeno 1 and 2 and the whole "passage of fate" business is namedropped, so... You might need the first two (although not necessarily X) to fully appreciate this one, just saying. 2) That battle system, hoo boy. In all likelihood it'll be a lot more intuitive and simple when you're actually playing and I'm worried for no reason, but... Six active party members (not just three pairs)? That can apparently fuse? With what seemed like mechanics from both 1 and 2 thrown in but with extra twists? That seems pretty imposing at first glance... Still, no substitute for experience. I had some trouble with 2's system at first as well but it clicked really quickly and was enjoyable afterwards. I expect just about the same here. Bring on July!

The GF, who doesn't play games at all, had been playing Mario Kart 8 and Overcooked at a friend's house. Yesterday, she was telling me that we absolutely needed a Switch of our own. She didn't have to tell me twice, so I ordered an OLED Switch today, along with a 512GB SD card, which should hopefully be enough?
Also, game prices on the eShop are ridiculous. Is there a trustworthy place to get download codes?

Cdkeys, Shopto. All pretty good. Also 512gb is waaaaaay more than enough. Games are nothing like current gen filesize.

512gb is plenty, you'll struggle to fill it even if you only download games.

Ah OK, thanks. Didn't know that. It was scary how fast I filled up the 1TB on the Xbox, and the card was ~£55 so I thought why go lower.

Is there a trustworthy place to get download codes? There are loads of deals on the eShop, much to my surprise. It's almost similar to Steam at times. As mentioned, dekudeals is useful. But the Nintendo 1st party games are very expensive and seem to rarely get discounts. I think there's a 'get 2 games for xx' deal that's decent if you want to pick up two full priced 1st party games, though I haven't tried it. I'm not 100% on this, but I think you can also switch regions(?) so that can enable grabbing cheaper games when they go on sale somewhere. You also get points (10%?) from eShop purchases, which can add up to a couple of free cheap games a year. My 32Gb sd card is struggling, given that a few fortnite updates have expanded the size that needs.

Also use switchup.gg for ecards using coupon code SWITCHUP to get 10% off. Bought another this morning and this code is still in use.
