Just had my first experience of Mario Kart Live Home Circuit. I'm amazed at how good and how clever it all is - just WOW!

Art of Rally seems pretty good so far. But plenty of people are saying that it’s pretty ropey and cut back compared to the PC version. The dev seems to be saying that they will fix it in time.

A Monster’s Expedition is totally lovely. Pushing over trees and rolling them around to hop from island to island. Totally charming with a great atmosphere.

It looks pretty poor in comparison to the other versions - all the trees seem to be missing, for one thing. But from what I've read, even on the next-gen consoles it has some issues.

Played a bit of Islanders earlier - it's quite a chilled experience - a mixture of Tetris and SimCity, but without any time pressure.
That said,it can be a bit fiddly to get the buildings right where you want them

Anyone else play Furi? It's not an exclusive but it fits very well with the general indie theme going with the Switch. I love it, but am terrible at it

I get that you place buildings on a procedurally generated island but I am unsure what the ultimate objective is?

My kids are absolutely battering that Sonic Olympics game and Mario Party. I've got a backlog that includes Luigi's Mansion 3, Mario Galaxy & 3D World, Pikmin 3, the Zelda remake, Mario & Rabbids, Donkey Kong, Hades, Dead Cells, and around 50 digital titles I've not touched. I've ordered that Cruisin' game and the new Monkey Ball - even though the other Monkey Ball is in the untouched pile also. I need to stop.

I wouldn't say "all the trees" because I seem be hitting a lot of them - but yeah.

Rinse and repeat.

How is Art of Rally performance wise. I have had it on pc since day one, but wouldn't mind it on the new switch. To be honest I've not played it that much, but I didn't notice any performance issues. However, I tend to be pretty forgiving when it comes to framerates and stuttering, so you may notice it more - especially after coming off the PC version... From what I can tell, its a solid 30fps, which is fine given the general speed of the game. What is jarring when switching between the two is that all the foliage is missing on Switch as is about half of all trees. The shadow pop-in is apparent on both versions (I'm playing on Series X).

Hey, Dreamscaper is pretty damn decent, if you’re looking for an action roguelite with a good narrative. It’s no Hades, but has very decent combat and gear. Strong 7.5/10 type of game, that frames the roguelite mechanics of loops and levelling up within the realm of mental health and grief.

I am not enjoying Islanders. Maybe if it was a bit more 'chunky' in the controls and building placement. But it all seems like a total faff. I'm done with it and am on to Grape Story and Axiom Verge 2.

Anyone tried Rush Rally Origins? Looks nice but mobile heritage gives me doubts.

Anyone tried Rush Rally Origins? Looks nice but mobile heritage gives me doubts. I bought it after being disappointed with Art of Rally. Only £5 but having a blast with it. Control is tight and it's a silky smooth 60fps. Only noticed one bug, when sometimes restarting it doesn't render the screen properly for a few seconds. But other than that it's really good.

It is a shame about Art of Rally on Switch. That would have been my preferred choice of platform, but its just not quite there. I do wonder why it isn't running smoothly on Switch. It doesn't look like a taxing game on the surface. The environments are static. The courses are not procedurally generated, as I was lead to believe. At least not in terms of road layouts as I've driven identical courses multiple times over.
It is only a 1 man effort though, so maybe the port is just a poor one.

On a separate note, Spelunky 1 and 2 come out today. I can't speak for the sequel, but the original is an amazing game. I never owned a Vita so this will be the first time I've played it as a portable game. It definitely suits the short burst, pick up and play style.

On a separate note, Spelunky 1 and 2 come out today. Yes. I almost forgot these were coming until I saw the reviews on NintendoLife. I think I'll get the first one. I have it on Xbox but never got far, mostly because I prefer playing these kinds of games handheld (see also Fez, Celeste and Hollow Knight). The second one apparently is (even) harder than the first.

For anyone who likes the idea of a battle royale, but doesn't like the idea of investing tons of time to get to grips with one, Animal Royale is pretty solid. Easy to pick up and a good laugh with friends.
I've played about 20 hours or so whilst it was on Early Access/Gamepass and not only is it free, but there is little incentive to buy anything anyway.

Was looking for something to play on boys Switch while I was away and went with Rush Rally 3. It's a surprisingly decent little rally game if you can live with the shit graphics. Which I imagine you can if you own a switch.

Shit graphics are underrated, as is overpricing and a poor online experience. Best reasons to own a Switch

Meh. It fills a role in the market, in that no other system is portable. If you cared about the best pretty graphics, you'd buy a PC.
Maybe the Steam deck will trump that when it gets released in 2025.

Haha I love my Switch, just messing
I think Switch games look great anyway. Never cared much for fidelity. It's all so transient. Look at the back of the Doom 2 box and it's talking about ultra realistic graphics. Yeah, about that...
Even the Ultimate Definitive Transformative Game Changing Edition PC versions of games will look better on someone else's PC or will start looking dated soon enough

Thinking of getting Quake on this. I loved I loved Crysis on the Switch. I know it was better on other platforms and I could have got it on them on that. But I loved it. Only played it in docked mode.

I think it has gyro aiming on the Switch? That's one good reason for getting it.

Quake works well on Switch. It has gyro aiming but I didn’t really use it. (Apparently the PS4/5 version also has gyro).

It's a lot more chaotic through and can sometimes feel unfair where the original never did. Or I'm just shit.
