Anyone keeping an eye on Triangle Strategy? Love the art style and it looks like it could scratch the itch I have for a Final Fantasy Tactics type game.

Yeah it'll probably be Day One purchase for me. I loved Octopath, loved FFT, mixing the two together seems like a win.

It is one I have my eye on too. Really need to give the demo some more time as I only had a quick look so far

Came out months ago around announcement. I think you have to search by name though as it isn't in the normal demo list IIRC. Similar fashion to Octopath and Bravely II getting early test demos I assume it is still available...

Quick question: Do DLC codes (EU) bought from the likes of CDkeys.com still work? My son wants both Smash fighter passes and they're cheapest on cdkeys.
I know Nintendo blocks ninty game codes, but I'm not sure about ninty dlc.

Finally had some time to put in to SMTV. I'm really digging it. I was enjoying but didn't finish 3, and the QoL upgrades all round really push this up a notch.

The Super Mario Party Switch one is more about the motion controls, the new Superstars one is a remix of the old Games on N64, GameCube etc so more analog stick and buttons based. My kids (9&7) love the older Switch one, we still play it often 2 years later. Reviews of the new Superstars are good but I reckon thatās because itās sad old neck beards reviewing it

Is it just waggling stuff with the motion controls? I'm not a big fan of waggling.

Not much waggling, more about timing. Thereās stick and button based games too. Superstars is button mashing, so pick your poison

Is there a list of games playable with 4 player couch co-op (1 Switch connected to the TV with 4 Joy-Cons)?

You can filter on the e-shop for co-op play, local multiplayer or 4 players. Not multiple filters though, annoyingly!

Everything Iāve read says get the new Mario Party, not the older one.
Also, on another note; just started Ori Will of the Wisps. Wow, another absolutely brilliant game for the OLED Switch.

I only played it on my TV so can't really compare it with the true power of the OLED

The Switch OLED is like when a baddie gets defeated and then says "Now I will unleash my TRUE POWEEEER" and shit gets real

Loved both Ori games. The second is better paced than the first and has additional moves that make traversal very satisfying.

Can anybody recommend a recent switch release 10 quid or less? Doesnt matter what it is, if you've found something great in the glut of dross on the eshop I'm all ears. I'm asking because I'm bored and looking for something small I can blast through immediately š A Short Hike is what you need. Bit late in reply, I like to put anything I like the look of on in my watch list and pop in now and again to see what is on sale. It's a game in itself! Moonlighter 80s Overdrive katamari Horace (which will will bring tears of joy to any old zx spectrum codgers) cat quest pikuniku doom (the old one) .. each for a fiver or far less. Plus Owlboy and the amazing Virtua Racing port for a bit more but probably under Ā£10.

Have Nintendo shown any signs yet of making the N64 emulation work better?

Nope, and the first addition is paper Mario. Looks like they're going to add 1 game every 2 months, which is crazy slow

Thats likely because they can't get enough N64 software. It is a licencing hell hole. Look at the Virtual Console offerings. They just barely hit 20 games on Wii and Wii U in all those years. Also, it has an incredibly aged library of games, plus certain publishers no longer support Nintendo's retro distribution methods, like Capcom and Konami, so its just gonna be lacking all round. The Mega Drive library should be stronger, but even that will likely be Sega published titles, rather than any major 3rd parties.
Hopefully they throw up DS, GBA and GameCube games next year.

Waiting for Ogre Battle 64...
A few lesser known titles such as Rocket: Robot on Wheels would fit nicely too.
Add Body Harvest or Blast Corp if they can get the permissions as the former was interesting and the latter was fun.

Hey, donāt sleep on Skul:The Hero Slayer, if you are a fan of 2D action roguelites. Itās a little fuckinā ripper, albeit one that suffers from minor intermittent technical issues. Hopefully these will be addressed through patches.

Thats likely because they can't get enough N64 software. It is a licencing hell hole. Look at the Virtual Console offerings. They just barely hit 20 games on Wii and Wii U in all those years. It isn't licensing, it is just how Nintendo operates.
Nintendo acts to maintain the "value" of its properties, which really means they act to keep prices high. It is why Nintendo's own games hardly go on sale. It is why Nintendo feels $8 is a reasonable price for a modern emulation of Urban Champion, even though Urban Champion arguably wasn't even worth $8 when it was released on the NES. It isn't about the game, or what people are willing to pay, or increasing short term profits; it was about the long term creation and maintaining of the idea that all NES games (not just the ones people actually want) are worth at least $8 even as bare bones emulation efforts. (Nintendo has been open in the past about working to maintain the perceived value of their games, rather than sacrificing the long term for short term gains.)
Putting a bunch of Nintendo games onto a relatively cheap (compared to the individual game prices Nintendo wants to maintain) subscription service risks devaluing those games. So Nintendo doesn't put out a bunch of games. They put out a handful and slowly trickle more over the life of the service. They also don't just put out their greatest hits.
Nintendo also has a history of building their release schedules around the idea that all Nintendo consumers will buy and play all Nintendo games. We saw this with Virtual Console releases, where months might be carried by games Nintendo had to know almost no one wanted. We also saw this with the waning life of the Wii in North America. While the typical excuse it to avoid games cannibalizing each other's sales, I think this also plays back into Nintendo's efforts to maintain the perceived high value of Nintendo titles. It's pretty much the only way to explain the Virtual Console release schedule, as Nintendo easily could have put out many more releases without even getting into "licensing hell". (I want to recall Nintendo even said at one point that they were releasing their VC games slowly so that they wouldn't glut the market.)
The datamined N64 title list, and the extrapolations fans made from it, was mostly Nintendo-owned titles. They were games that Nintendo wouldn't have gotten into licensing issues over. Further, as the list was in alphabetical order with skipped lines for unlisted games, that implied Nintendo already had a decent idea of the 38 games they intended to support, and presumably had already started dealing with any licensing concerns.
Last year Nintendo said that they felt the Switch was barely in the middle of its life, implying they expect to support it for several more years. If Nintendo averages one new N64 game every month or two, then the leaked list would easily last through the entire expected life span of the Switch. Which is honestly what I expect to be Nintendo's plan.
