Looks better with each new trailer.

I promised not to get any more games for the Switch until the new Switch is released, assuming it's back compact. This is making that decision incredibly difficult.

The beds seem to be the go to solution for a lot of the obstacles in these trailers. Is there a finite amount of casts you can do to mitigate this?
I'm sure they know what they're doing.

Looks more interesting than the previous trailers, even if 'swordfighter form' is a bit of a cop-out.
Hopefully spamming the all-powerful beds won't get too repetitive.

Got myself Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania in the sale (the Deluxe edition too, I wanted that original music). It's been too long since I last played it in the arcades.
Too bad Unity rears its ugly head again. Performance isn't quite as stable as I'd like. Still, I can deal with it.

Banana Rumble is a lot better. More a sequel to the original GC games.

Anyone with experience of the Tactics Ogre port on Switch? Performance/changes to the original
Similarly, any opinions on the best Disgaea available on Switch? From my quick learnings, 5 has best gameplay but worst story, 4 I've played a bit of and liked the characters of- seems to have a decent reputation, 6 terrible, 7 better but notably poor performance, 1 a bit long in the tooth with outdated gameplay

I can tell you than Penny’s Big Breakaway looks and run nicely, if that helps.

Played that on Series X. It's nice- the little challenge/side quest things you get per level are a bit jarring as they go against the flow the rest of the game has
I also ended up stuck inside the environment way too often
It's good fun though, even if I never quite felt like I'd got the hang of the movement

My first impressions aren’t amazing, to be honest. It’s definitely a better take on a 3D Sonic game, but it feels quite fiddly to play. Only played the opening 3 levels, so maybe I just have to give it more time.

They make it quite difficult to level outside of missions/earn money in Fire Emblem Engage. I'm nearing 20s and want to bring some of the little ones up so we're all good before I start promoting. But the skirmish missions are a nightmare with you just getting rushed and they're always a few levels higher than you (constantly adjusted as your level increases) so not good for weaker units
Want to get them done before I promote so that I won't have to worry about overleveling (as no one can go past 20 yet) while I earn some gold and level them that needs it. The only gold I've had so far is what was given to me during the campaign and has nearly all been spent on leveling up the various regions (to 3). You aren't even guaranteed any monies from skirmishes anyway
Also did one of the trials and got some gems for upgrading emblem weapons but you also need another item type I haven't got or seen. Could be tied to the multiplayer trials (if so, that's a bust. Lame)
Don't know if it's because I'm playing on Hard, but resources seem really stingy and it has halted my progress quite a bit while I wrestle with it
I would expect the skirmishes to be there specifically for this purpose- to earn gold and level weaker units that have lagged behind from lack of use in story missions. I guess you could just focus on 12 or so that you want to use through the campaign but I need to look after all my babies
I'm hoping there is at least some kind of plus game so that things like resources, emblems, skills, region levels, bond rings, etc carry over as I'm not sure how you'd complete it all in a single playthrough and it's a lot of investment
Otherwise, it's great- up to chapter 14 or 15 now. Panette is special

Yeah, Engage is pretty stingy with the money it gives you. You get cash infusions every few missions, but you're never going to be rich (though the DLC does give you some methods).
Also, there's no new game plus.

That seems like a missed opportunity- reset levels but keep skills, items, region levels, etc
Bond points or whatever they're called is another one. It costs 10,000 to upgrade bond rings from A to S and there's, what, 120 of them? And SP- I've earned around 2500 SP (main character) so far since the beginning of the game- a level 10 emblem skill costs 2000, level 20 is 3000 at least
I think I've reached a bit of mid game burnout with the extraneous stuff anyway and feeling antsy with it, especially the lack of real progress, so I'm having a break. Come back to it fresh and get into the swing of things with some skirmishing to sort everyone out

There's some maps with infinite respawns that you can use to farm xp/sp.
But yeah, it's a limited resource - especially on Maddening. By about the middle of the game, I was trying to focus on a core group of characters, and most everyone else (with one notable exception, won't say who due to plot spoilers) was permanently on the bench.

Can anyone give me a super basic overview of Monster Hunter Rise vs Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin?
The boy (10) has never played a Monster Hunter game but suddenly wants one for his birthday. I'm not sure he knows exactly what they are, but he picked Stories 2 from looking at the amazon pages.
I've never played any Monster Hunter games, but it looks like Stories 2 is a turn based JRPG, whereas the others are more like open-world action games, right?
He likes Pokemon Shield/Scarlet and Tears of the Kingdom, if that helps.

Monster Hunter is kind of a boss rush game. Very grindy (very)- you'll be repeating the same bosses/quests over and over for parts (random drop chance) to create stronger weapons and armour to fight tougher bosses. Repeat. Fights can last around 30-40 minutes. That's pretty much the whole game. It's third person action but I don't think the combat is too complicated with only very short combos. It tends to be quite clunky though. Think Dark Souls-ish in that regard. It's aimed more towards online co-op but there's usually still plenty you can do solo. Doubt there's much of a story to care about. It does get difficult as well, especially solo Personally I find it way too repetitive Never played a Stories game but always had the impression they're more standard JRPGs set in the same universe
Monster Hunter games usually have a demo you can check out

I've played a little of Rise and World. Quite enjoyed it. I understand it is mostly played co-op by people, but I get the impression from what I've played solo that the co-op will basically just be single player game, but with some one else running around too.
Beyond difficulty and being able to chat to someone while playing, does co-op actually add anything? Always disappointed when a co-op game doesn't really do anything to the gameplay.

MH co op is huge, especially in Japan. I think there is a lot of cooperation in multiplayer with the various weapon types and playstyles

I still havn’t quite got Monster Hunter. I completed world to a base level and dabbled a little bit in Rise but I thought after falling for the Souls series - the combat and upgrading loop, I thought that Monster Hunter would be something I would dig at the time but it never quite happened. The new one looks interesting too but I don’t know. Kind of a game I want to like than actually liking it. Maybe one day it will click

Rise sounds more interesting (but then I have a thing against JRPGs).
Do you think it'd be ok content wise for a 10 year old?
The age rating is Teen (ESRB) or 15 (Japan), but from a quick look at gameplay it doesn't seem much different to Tears of the Kingdom. Whack big monster with sword until it dies. There doesn't seem like there's much blood etc..

The tone is pretty silly and lighthearted from what I've played. Apart from all the slaughtering of majestic beasts, I shouldn't think there's anything objectionable

If you're focused on always pushing forward with your eyes on the next weapon or armour upgrade, it's fine. Step back for a minute and you realise what a repetitive, never ending chore it is
It's an all or nothing game for me
You do get to create a little cat companion, which is the best thing about the series (you also get to create a dog you can ride in Rise)

I can't remember if it's been posted, but Currys have 25% off Echoes of Wisdom. I was going to wait, but I doubt it'll ever be this price again.
