Pretty good, we have spare cash. Le Creuset are always worth the money. Big outlay but they really do last and are excellent.

elstoof how do you stack stuff after you've washed it then? I mean I could get away without one for reasons mentioned just now but where would the fun be in trying to de-jenga the crazy pile of pots, dishes, mugs, cutlery and cooking implements left by Mrs Mercury? Two man job fred! One wash, one dry. Togetherness. Towel whips optional.

Dishwasher for most things, and then hand dry pots/pans after washing them and put them back in their place. If you don't have a dishwasher I don't know why you even chose to carry on living. Washing up is the worst. The dishwasher usually has no room for pots and pans in this house. It's a good day when I can fit a small pan in. The rest gets handwashed.

cubby well my preference has always been for heavy aluminum, then they don't weigh a ton but feel nice to use and non-stick is essential for me, I've never got on with stainless steel. I see Meyer do a set for about £90 on amazon (RRP £130), I think going by the reviews though it looks like their quality has slipped like most things so I can't say I'd recommend them. Another nice to have is an extra handle on the opposite side of the main handle on the big pan and also non metal handles.

I had been growing my set of Global knives over the years, and haven't needed any new ones for a good few years now. The last one I got was the Global Chinese Chopper which is an absolute unit (Christmas present from Mrs mikeck nearly ten years ago now) it is so much fun to use!

I'm quite tempted to get a decent stainless steel skillet. Trying to avoid using my carbon steel stuff for anything acidic, so need something that I can build up a nice fond on.
All clad prices are a bit fucking eye watering!

You can replace them and I likely will. Would have preferred not to have to tho’ - the main selling point of Le Crueset is “Lasts for years” so was a bit surprised that these failed as they did.

Le creuset cast iron/enameled stuff is what their reputation is for mainly imo, which are fantastic. Their stoneware is utter shit these days (made in China, not France like their cast iron stuff)
No idea about pots. But plastic in general on a pot is something I'd stay away from. Get some replaceable silicone handle covers if metal handles bother you.
Just musing here btw, I would've expected better too tbh. I'd be making use of that lifetime warranty!

Oh nice. Never seen those ones before. Wonder if they’re the proper old school ones as everything I’ve seen when shopping has been just solid ceramic. The old old old school ones all have wooden handles, if you have one of those it’s probably at least 40 years old.

Also easier to clean when the cookware is still slightly warm (but not straight from the stove/oven to avoid thermal shock). High end stuff should never really be left to air dry.
