The Sinking City 2 just announced. Very much down for that! I enjoyed Sinking City but any sequel has to be an 'improvement upon' and not just 'more of'. It was fun but janky as fuck.

Just realised that the Stalker games have been squeezed out on to consoles. Damn. Been wanting to play the first one since forever but I've bought so many games recently I'll have to resist. Still, nice it's out though, and it's sequels.

Still, nice it's out though, and it's sequels. Been playing the first one last few nights in Series X. Pleased and quite surprised to report it's a very solid port, plays well on a controller and runs at a locked 60fps. Picked it up for a tenner too as they assigned the wrong prices when it first went live.

Yeah although they got the open world running much better in Sherlock Chapter 1 so have hopes for it. Though the biggest issue for me with the first was the map simply not needing to be that big as most of it was enmity and played no part in the story or side quests.

Oh, wait, Stellar Blade's developer also developed Nikke: Goddess of Victory? That makes a lot more sense then, I haven't even played that and I still know that the surprise would be if Stellar Blade didn't have fanservice

It'll be interesting when this game is released and will be revealed to be a competent yet flawed 3rd person action RPG game and more importantly it will be largely forgotten in about a year or so.
Hopefully the people obsessed with the player character's arse will have had actual consensual sex with a real life woman but I should probably be more realistic here.

I'm frustrated by Push Square's 'have our cake, and eat it too!' editorial stance on this game - "let's bait those sweet clicks by attracting Team Incel to the comments section, while urging posters to be respectful."
As for "everyone's talking about Sexy Android Dress-Up Sim"... well, might that be because one of the biggest PlayStation sites out there keeps churning out articles on the subject, hmm?

(for the record the last thing I care about when choosing a game to play is the fanservice, whether it's there or not)

This kinda passed under the radar, but Ziggurat released a free add-on episode for Quake that serves as a prequel to the new Slave Zero X game.
I'm surprised: just looking at the intro and the first level, I can see it uses a lot of new assets. Reminds me a lot of the old Malice TC. And like any good Quake add-on, the nightmare mode switch is hidden in the map. Very cool.

I don't particularly mind its presence here, although I do think it's getting way too much emphasis from all corners (including the devs, the horndog commentariat, and Push Square's 'news' department).
For me, the impending release of a AAA hack and slash/character action game that's 20-25 hours long is something that should be celebrated, especially in an era dominated by 60-hour RPGs; instead, it's being treated like a forthcoming issue of Reader's Wives.
Instead of going to Push Square this morning to find an article about the gameplay in the demo, based upon a modicum of research via YouTube and Twitch, I see that the site's editor - not a 'lowly' scribe, but the bloody editor! - has crapped out yet another SEXY ANDROID LADY MAKES MY PEE-PEE FEEL FUNNY article, which is the third such piece they've published in the space of a month.
And of course, you can quickly get a full house in a game of Shithead Bingo by scrolling through the comments section, which only adds to my vexation.

Easy soundbites and clickbait, innit... Why analyze everything about a subject when you can focus on one simplistic thing and get the same if not greater reaction that way? Works in politics too

Is Push Square run by the same team as Nintendo Life, as they tend to have a similar strategy in regards to click bait. Maybe not in regards to trying to rouse aggression, but they’ll twist a story to make it sound like it’s remotely news worthy, when it’s nothing.
Stopped going to that site a couple of years ago because I felt that just clicking on that site encouraged that kind of nonsense.

They have Nintendo life listed as Friends at the bottom on the site

dangerousdave Good eye! Push Square and Nintendo Life have the same parent company, from what I can see - I guess it's part and parcel of how they do business.

I'm really glad that in the year of our lord 2024 we're focused on the arse of a female character in a videogame. I hope this era is recorded for the generation after our inevitable apocalypse.

The funny thing is games used to get backlash for this stuff back during the 360/PS3 era but now. Pretty much every article or tweet I see about the game is talking about her appearance.

I can get it for a tenner with my stars points giving me a fiver off. Hmm.

Honestly this feels like Gamergate 2.0 and we know who funded the original and the reasons behind it. Not wanting to get all tinfoil hat about it but it seems incredibly coincidental that a lot of this stuff is gathering a lot of critical mass as it were in an American election year.

In terms of gameplay, Stellar Blade does look good (especially if, like me, you're jonesing for a new hack and slash experience). You've got all the usual melee mechanics - light attack, heavy attack, guard/parry, dodge, jump, sprint, lock on, etc. - with ranged attacks thrown in the mix as well. This is the default controller layout, which may or may not be adjustable in the final game:
There are several skill trees (of course there are - it's 2024!), and you can do stuff like making the parry window larger or unlocking new combos by investing points therein.
There's a training mode in which you can practice new moves, including those you haven't unlocked yet.
From what I've read online, the combat is slower than that of Devil May Cry and Nier.

Where's the button to make the character's arse speak?

Where's the button to make the character's arse speak? The Tories and Republicans are hogging it currently
