A thread for those games that there's no point making a whole new thread for, but that you want to talk about anyway
Redundant? Maybe. But for now just tell me if you've played Creaks or Iris.Fall and if they're any good, ta Or discuss some other games, you can do that too

Great post, Dan. That's a like from me. So good, actually, that I'm going to click like twice. Think I'll do the same for all your posts from now on

Nice little chilled-out puzzle game with a side of the constant threat of a giant murderous robot. Rather typical for an Amanita game, if you like those in general, you'll like this.

So shortly after making this thread, I got some pretty shitty news I'm now never making a thread on FontGeek ever again.

no, guy, what happened?
I tried out Mighty Goose the other day. It was pretty fun. Sort of MegaMan meets Metroid. And you are a cyborg goose.

Normally I couldn't care less who publishes a game, but I do have a negative association with Take Two Interactive now.

Eeeh, it's not something I'd really want to go into right now, which I know makes that last post a bit of a dick tease but look, can we just make sure Kena wins the Font Geek GOTY award?

I look forward to Fares' inevitable "fuck Take Two" rant at The Game Awards.

I look forward to Fares' inevitable "fuck Take Two" rant at The Game Awards. Why? I thought Take Two was a pretty decent game.

LTK , Zuluhero Appreciate the thoughts on Creak. Nice to know it's a fun little title. I'll probably grab it next time it goes on sale As for Iris.Fall, I'm not that familiar with it myself. Saw some favourable reviews, though they bemoaned the very short length. Didn't end up getting that either.

Having a short game length makes it even more appealing 😅

Short games are bloody great, especially in this age of needlessly bloated AAA titles and live service games. Really enjoyed Donut County and Artful Escape recently and they felt like the perfect length. Probably helps that they were "free", though.
Both sound interesting so keen to hear some feedback.

One of my fave 'short' games in recent years was A Short Hike.
Really good fun to explore, lots of interesting characters and a surprisingly poignant story.

If you like atmospheric puzzlers with great art and sound it's a must buy. I'd also give a big mention to Tails of iron which, funnily enough I created a thread for after being pretty blown away by It after taking a punt on it in an effort to play something outside of my usual go to's like we'll reviewed, well covered big hitters and nostalgic purchases of games I KNOW I like. Tales of Iron is basically 2d Dark souls but completable for an aging fool like me. The art is fantastic, the narration really adds to the immersion and watching the world of our rat friends slowly rebuild as you accomplish tasks and take down bosses gives your actions real purpose and encourages you to push on. The combat is weighty with a great crunchy feel to it too. Amazing game I'm pretty sure hardly anyone bought.

That said if you mop up absolutely everything it will only take you 4-5 hours. You can "beat it" in just over an hour. It's a 10/10 game imo though

dfunked Some games are really far too bloated these days. When the intro throws around 6 or 7 systems at you and 4 different upgrade paths, and then you look in the pause menu and see there's even more to come and random crap to collect, I just get a thorough sense of "cannot be arsed" I played through Creaks on holiday last year and absolutely loved it. The combat is weighty with a great crunchy feel to it too. Amazing game I'm pretty sure hardly anyone bought. Nothing but good things about Creaks, so I'll definitely grab it. I'm not sure Tails of Iron would really be my thing, but it sounds interesting at least. A bit like Salt & Sanctuary if it's 2D souls I suppose Speaking of Rats, Ghost of a Tale is nice for anyone looking for a nice little adventure game. And speaking of games nobody bought, Lost in Random. I posted about it in the Completed Games thread, but every time I see it, it's only getting cheaper and it only released 2 months ago. Shame because it's a charming world and I had a lot of fun with it.

Speaking of 2D Dark Souls, theres another free expansion coming to Blasphemous. I loved playing Blasphemous but lost my save when my old PS4 bricked so haven’t got around to the last expansion yet.

Yikes, they just keep adding to Blasphemous. I never did finish the base game (got up to the last boss and just couldn't be arsed any more) but I keep reinstalling it to see how much has changed with the last expansion and never getting around to actually playing it. It is a superb game mind you.
