Persona 5 RoyalWow what a game. 150 hours of pure joy. Altus go all in on the Persona series and it shows. The production values and sheer design genius that went into this game is just mind-blowing. Nearly everything about it is just polished to perfection. Even the menus are amazing. And that soundtrack fucking SLAPS. It's it perfect? No. A couple of the boss battles sucked, and overall it's far too easy, even on hard mode. But other than that I really can't fault it. 10/10 Wasn't there an issie with the translation when it came out? What was that about?

Yeah, I'm looking forward to getting stuck into P5R again when it drops on game pass. One of my all time favourite games, and watching the concert that was posted here a while back has REALLY gotten me in the mood for it. It's just fantastic! Also a great winter game when the evenings start to draw in. I just finished watching that concert again for the 3rd time, and I keep having to tell myself that it's a live performance of a videogame soundtrack. It's just epic, Shoji Meguro is a genius, and everyone involved in that show is at the very top of their game. The PS4 version of Royal played fantastically well on my PS5, and I'm curious what improvements they're gonna make for the native PS5 release. Definitely gonna pick up P3 and P4 when they come out as well, I've only played them on Vita.

Have you guys tried p5 strikers? Not quite the same but nice to be back in the World. Not played it, but I have the Switch version sitting in my pile of shame. Gonna start PQ2 on my 3DS tomorrow I think

The PS4 Pro version was already 4K, right? Maybe just 60fps on PS5, and fast loading naturally. Doubt there'll be much new content if any, since Royal's already the Plus edition.
But yeah, they definitely need to port all 3 to Switch.

btw suicida, if this is your first PlayStation and you're just getting into the Persona series (I know you love SMT on Switch), definitely check out the Persona Dancing games, which I believe are all still on sale this weekend. Especially if you enjoy the music.

I have the dancing games for my Vita (imported the JP releases for collection purposes) but I really suck at those type of games so I've never played them. I just haven't got the coordination. But for £18 it'd be rude not to 😅

I might've drunk purchased the dancing games last night despite already trying the demo of one of them and not fancying it... D'oh.
Just fired up P5 DiS and the lack of language options is a bit annoying.

Slay the Spire.
The idea of "completing" a roguelike always seems somewhat nebulous, so I decided ahead of time that I'd consider the game to be done and dusted (for the moment, at any rate) once I'd beaten Act 3 with all four of the playable characters.
This isn't my first rodeo, roguelike-wise - having played Returnal and Hades last year - but it was my first deck-building roguelike, and my first card game in general. Hopefully it won't be the last.
As I've said elsewhere on FG, I absolutely loved Slay the Spire - yes, it could be frustrating in the way any RNG-heavy game can be, but it was also so much damned fun.
Runs never lasted much more than an hour, and often came screeching to a halt well before that if I'd got the wrong cards or relics and/or screwed the pooch somewhere; however, I never lost that "One more try..." mindset, and usually had to tear myself away from the game if I wanted to stand any chance of getting some sleep on a given night.
I could go on, but I think you've got the idea by now! It's effin' great - go check it out if you're even vaguely curious, and I reckon you'll be glad you did.
9/10.
EDIT: Having played and beaten Dead Cells and The Binding of Isaac in the intervening months, I'm upping my score for StS from 8.5 to 9.

Nice! I never did beat it with that fourth character as I’d bought it on multiple platforms and had burned out on it by then. So addictive at the time though, I remember it disrupting my working day something awful as I couldn’t keep away. I’m not an expert in the genre but something similar but different if you’re on PC is Trials of Fire. Look past the godawful overworld map graphics and it’s something really special. I just started Gordian Quest, and it seems to be a good take on the genre too, though it has a whole bunch of RPG systems added on top of the deck building.

I need to get back to StS. Finished it with three characters and was treating completion as unlocking all cards/relics for the four characters. Think I got near the end of the third one and drifted away.
Bloody loved my time with it. Cracking game.

Just finished Subsurface Circular and Quarantine Circular, short 'text adventures' by Mike Bithell, currently available for pennies in the steam sale. I put that in quotes because they're accompanied by animated characters in 3D backdrops, but as your interactions are limited entirely to picking dialogue options, it's more accurate to call it a text adventure.
Subsurface Circular is, broadly speaking, about the conflicts between human workers and the sentient robots designed to do their jobs better, and summing up Quarantine Circular is a much more spoilery affair, but from the name you can already guess that it's about a plague, and it's always weird seeing stories like this made before 2020, and doubly so now that I happen to play it while recovering from covid. In this case, a waterborne bacterium spread across the globe, killed millions, and because of widespread antibiotic resistance, humanity is powerless to stop it. Much more of a grim outcome than in reality, but then, Quarantine Circular takes place long after sentient robots are invented, so that's more optimistic in terms of timeline at least.
In any case, they're neat little diversions, and I think they're worth an hour and a half of your time.

Saints Row The Third: Remastered
Just incredibly entertaining. So many memorable moments that I wouldn't want to spoil for anyone by talking about them here. It's all ridiculous and over the top but the characters act as though everything that's happening is completely normal, which somehow works and is brilliant
Ended too soon

I've done p5 once and p5 royal once. I missed one trophy on p5 royal (the lottery one) because for some reason it didn't pop. Was gutted, and I will be doing another run to get it done. Also done p4 golden three and a half times. Have you guys tried p5 strikers? Not quite the same but nice to be back in the World. my daughter has and enjoyed it, she's a persona/smt nut she's tried to get me going on the dancing games but i think those days are behind my reaction times...

Shadowrun returns on gamepass
Brilliant but fucking flawed game. I loved the world and story but there was so much to dislike as well.
+great world and story - very very buggy. Especially the last mission which I had to redo 4 times. Turns out a known bug that means if you do the obvious thing then the rest does not trigger. -the rng is fucked. I save scummed the last mission as you had to take enemies down in one turn, with hitting 4 out of 4 times or they regentate. With a hit % of 95% I was hitting max 2 ot of 4. Actual hit % was around 60%. -utter wasted skill trees etc. I played as a decker and either I only used my skill once or twice the whole game (decking) or I could not use anything at all. Last mission I had my whole character specced around drones then final mission I could not use said drones. -one mission I had to solo which was a nightmare as I was out of cash and could not afford a team. (Decision in previous gave me xp but no money)
Despite all that I loved it. Reads like a 5/10 but something had me hooked.
A high 7/10 or maybe even an 8.

Tlou part 2
For sure it's one of my favourite games ever but it is way too long. I rinsed it on release but this time slowly played through it over a couple of weeks and still it just goes on and on and on. Every level is brilliant though and the characters are all incredible.
95/100
Turtles shredders revenge.
Meh. Completed it with the kids. They enjoyed it but pretty boring for me like the s.o.r. they did. Used to love this type of game when I was a kid in the arcades but now no thanks.
50/100

RE Village
Fantastic stuff. Totally over the top set pieces, genuinely funny cheesy dialogue, story with decent twists and lots of headshot fun. Awesome side character such as The Duke. Much better than RE7/10

Jet Set Radio Future
Emulation now reached the point where the game feels good enough to play. A few slowdowns on occasion, but nothing big.
Anyway, it's freaking JSRF, what do you expect? I'll admit though, after twenty years, you do notice some things you wish would be fixed. The camera has a tendency to screw you up at the worst times, graffiti tag is the most pointless "battle" ever, and some of the areas make it needlessly difficul to get back up when you fall. Also whose idea was it to make long graffiti impossible to complete when you are going at full speed? It breaks my flow. At times, you wish you had a proper remaster.
But well, you know what? Even with its age, it still has great looking visuals, an amazing soundtrack, and plenty of style. And I can still run full laps of Kibogaoka Hill without touching the ground. Haven't lost it yet.
9/10

Shadowrun returns on gamepass Brilliant but fucking flawed game. I loved the world and story but there was so much to dislike as well. I recently replayed the first half or so with a Decker Rigger and I was surprised again how much I still like some of those early characters and story beats. The game just has such a good feel to it for some reason. Unfortunately I didn't much like where the story goes after that, so this time I just played it until I encountered a certain someone maybe five or six hours in. I don't remember anything about the difficulty in the second half to be honest, but I think I played a Physical Adept and that worked out well enough.

Slay the spire is completed when you have done it on ascension 20, beating it on base level is essentially finishing the tutorial.

Slay the Spire (or any run-based game, really) is completed whenever you think it's completed. You don't get anything special from beating the Heart at Ascension 20.

I mean, it's like saying that you haven't really finished an FPS game if you haven't done it on the hardest difficulty. Finished is finished. (and it's mid afternoon here)
