As Marvel Legendary is one my favorite games Iβve given the DC deck builder a go. Itβs pretty decent but thematically all over the place. You play as one character per player but can buy any card that shows up, which means you can give Superman the Batmobile or give Batman the power of flight. The core gameplay is good though so I can kind of overlook it.

Anyone here used GameFound?
Now that Kickstarter wen't full on redpill techbro I imagine more and more projects will show up over there. So far none of the projects on Gamefound have caught my eye so I've no experience with them.

Have used Gamefound for Awaken Realms titles, Etherfields and Tainted Grail. Had a missing item with the latter. The comms was good and they sent a replacement quickly.
Currently have Hellboy and Unbreakable pledges with Gamefound, and I think they are the distributors for Aeon Trespass which I also have on order?
With Kickstarter's NFT's BS I'll probably use them more in the future.

Off to a new board game cafe (Snacks and Ladders...groan) near me this afternoon with the kids. Trying to get them in to board games with a bit more depth (but also need to be simple to pick up for my 9 year old). They charge a couple of quid a person for 2 hours and Β£1 per hour after that. Hopefully they'll be able to pick out a few good games for us.

Catan Jr is a good option.

A good board game cafe is one thing we lack around here. Enjoy it Dougs. Hope they find something good for some classic Xmas board game sessions / arguments.

Not sure there's a better thread, can anyone recommend an online chess site or app maybe?

That just reminds me that I never got past the first episode of Queen's Gambit, but I always meant to. I should get on that this week.

It's cute but not great in my opinion. Rewatch Chernobyl instead.

A good board game cafe is one thing we lack around here. Enjoy it Dougs. Hope they find something good for some classic Xmas board game sessions / arguments. It was really good - the kids were a bit hyper but we found a couple of decent games to play. Will definitely go back. Labyrinth is a definite hit. Yet to play D&D: TAB or Ticket to Ride Europe but looking forward to it over the next few days. My daughter is only 9 with additional needs, so needs quite a bit of help, so always tricky to know where to pitch board games.

Canβt for the life of me successfully embed a photo, but got an unexpectedly awesome xmas present in the guise of a copy of Shadow of the Bat and itβs KS exclusives \o/
Well played, Mrs Starchild. Well played indeed.

Proof that if you try to make your mind up about something as loudly and annoyingly as possible without realising it, someone might actually be listening.

Aw yeah. Itβs a really fun game. Reminds me a lot of a more thematic Street Masters, only with a ton more variety, and the minis are excellent.

I do love me some Street Masters. That with some Bat-theming sounds spot on. As you mentioned on another page, I love how it also offers a competitive mode in there as well that seemingly works just as well.
Might need to keep an eye out for an overpriced Arkham expansion nowβ¦

Really small touch, but I love how the rulebook and episode books are the size and feel of a comic book. Nice.

It's not exactly a board game, but we rediscovered our copy of Dick this holiday. It's like Cards Against Humanity but all the answer cards are quotes from Moby Dick. It's quite the thing when your normally prim and proper wife plays an answer card that says 'gallons of creamy sperm'.

Just treated myself to a copy of the 7th Continent and the newer set of cases from the Sherlock Holmes game. Looking forward to a few evenings with those.

They also got monopoly. I'm avoiding playing that one.

Anyone interested in doing some playtesting? I've been making a few games (mostly card based) and obviously with the pandemic I've been struggling to go out and get anyone to try them in their latest state. I've got P&P files that people can print out. I don't want to clutter this thread with it all if people are interested, just wanting to gauge interest.

I would like to help, but play solo.

@ryands Almost entirely competitive, I'm afraid. My design brain doesn't work solo wise for some reason.

Has anybody here seen Radlands? It looks like the kind of tableau building two player game I go for and itβs highly rated on BGG I guess. The artwork and aesthetic is a big draw too.
Could be got for quite cheap from the US too, I might be tempted.

It definitely looks interesting. My local store has the KS version in and Iβm tempted, but that kind of game doesnβt interest most of the people Iβd play with.
In other news I pledged to cut down on my board game spending this year. But Iβve just impulse bought a full pledge of the Street Fighter miniatures game so thatβs going well.

I was planning on not buying any games at all... Then I find myself trying to hunt down a Kickstarter version of Mind MGMT.
$88 from the dev, plus VAT and international shipping via are mailing service can't be too bad can it?

Iβm totally new to board games (outside of the usual suspects like monopoly) but picked up Catan. Iβve been wanting to play some for a long time but a majority of my friends havnβt really show an interest. A couple of people who I used to work have randomly moved back home and met up a couple of time pre Xmas. Talked about doing a games night here and then. Looking forward to trying to out.

Head a boardgame day yesterday, Eclipse new Dawn blah blah something, followed by Age of Steam.
Great times. Two great games. We laughed, and cursed, and agonized, and fitness each other's plans, and fitness alliances.
Age of Steam is such a masterclass. I came in third of four, barely, after struggling like a madman for a couple of rounds mid game. Last two round saved me, as I had a killer route where I could make five, or six link deliveries with ease.
But the gap to the winner was still painfully large.
But wow, that game is π― out of ten.
