There aren't any full solo bot rules, no. There's no hidden information though, so you could 2-hand it without issue. Not sure how much effort that would be yet though.

Had another game night and played Age of Steam (Rust Belt) and it was even better. Fantastic game that everyone should try at least once. The guy who really fucked up last time had watched some videos on youtube and brought his A-Game. He won handsomely. I thought I had a great plan, and it was quite good for the first couple of turns. Then I found myself stuck in a corner, and MR A-Game cock blocked all my attempts at expanding.
It's so damned great, because all the rules are very simple and straight forward. But they interlock in such fascinating ways, and the player interactions are so high, that on numerous occasions we found ourself staring quietly at the board for three to four minutes before someone would say, "Who's turn is it? What are we doing?"
But no one was ever frustrated. Everyone was playing out different scenarios in their heads, trying to find a way out.
It's a spectacular game.

Also ARCS: Long and convoluted subtitle including the word void because SPACE! Has been announced. Cole Wehrle doing a campaign game with some 4X elements I guess.
I'm intrigued

My copy of Company of Heroes arrived today.
That is one heavy toy box.

Alien Fate of the Nostromo on the way from Thirsty Meeples. I’m a sucker for these more simple games, I’m not ashamed to say. I absolutely loved Horrified, and even though I have Legendary Alien and Nemesis this new one just looks really entertaining.

My first boardgame con since pre-Covid is in it's last day and it's been a strange one. Excellent from the gaming/seeing friends side but the hotel seem ill prepared in managing a Con and their normal guests. Plus all prices across the board seem to have risen by a third.

Got a relative “bargain” today, as I managed to pickup a new copy of World in Flames Collectors Edition Deluxe for 90 quid, when it’s usually around 200+ if you can find it.
Bit of a grail game for me, even though I have no idea how I’ll ever play it. It has 5 mounted maps and 4900 counters…
Might pass on clipping those.

Given the genesis of this forum lies in Eurogamer there's a distinct lack of euro games in this thread.
Where's the Tigris and Euphrates love at? Hansa Teutonica. Castles of Burgundy. Agricola?
Even Race For The Galaxy. Anyone?

He dimmed the lights, poured himself a scotch, curled up in a blanket on his favourite chair by the fire, and cracked open the spine of the latest Rosenberg. Quietly he muttered "you crazy bastard, polyominoes again"

Sigh. I have almosted reached the end of my arkham horror card game addiction. Even though every card is in a binder etc, all sorted I just bought the 5 return to boxes. If I can track down Barkham Horror I will own every single release. Well apart from the novellas... fuck I have a problem.
Anyway I am off to Thailand for a month and will be stuck in one place for two weeks over my birthday. And I have decided I want to do a campaign while there, so need to pack some cards.
I doubt Edge of the Earth will arrive by then, so tell me chaps, which return to campaign should I take? Bonus points if you give me two characters to cheese the campaign. (Fuck it, it is my birthday. I want to boss it. So forgotten age is out.)

Barkham Horror isn’t really worth it, even though it goes for crazy money on eBay right now. It’s gimmicky and kind of boring after a while. For a single campaign while traveling it’s probably worth doing Return to Dunwich, it’s the most straightforward. For investigators, can’t go too wrong with a Mark Harrigan/Ursula Downs combo.
Though bear in mind AH isn’t the most portable of games, given you should really be customizing your deck as you go based on circumstances and earned XP rather than trying to pre build for the whole campaign hoping you get the XP.

Well my plan was to take one return to box, a whole campaign fits in there along with 2 characters. ( I think, I only have return to the circle undone delivered so far.) I thought just the 30xp or so upgrade cards per character and the chaos bag should fit. All health, resource etc along with the rule books can just be done on pdf or ipad.
I am confused the return to circle undone has card dividers for a lot of the base stuff. Do all the returns do that? Seems a waste.

Yeah. It’s done so people with multiple cores can have the return to boxes arranged for quick setup, given all of them use the base set encounter cards.

That's a good mini topic. If you were going into covid isolation for two weeks and could only bring one boardgame to play solo, which would it be? If bringing it along wasn't a factor I'd take Dawn of the Zeds. If that was a factor I'd take The Dead Eye

Not much of a solo gamer but I've enjoyed Nusfjord solo so I'd go with that.

Been looking for a new campaign-y dungeon crawl since polishing off Descent, and after much searching my copy of Middara turned up yesterday.
Looks like it nails the “JRPG in a box” thing it’s going for aesthetically at least, although it does get a bit too awkward anime at times in the art. The campaign book is ridiculous though. It’s about 500 pages long. Fingers crossed it plays well as this is going to last forever.
Also got Shadows of Brimstone for 50 quid in a Black Friday sale, which is due to turn up soon.
Going to be stuck in dungeons for some time.

Brimstone is amazing. I have a near complete collection of the Western themed one. Not sure I want to go through all that again for the Japanese one though, and there’s another new theme out in the next year supposedly.
I was put off by the art in Middara too. Also why I’ve declined Kingdom Death: Monster a few times as setting that up on the table would just make me feel like a raging pervert.

I’ve already had a few disapproving and judgemental looks from my other half about Middara sat on the coffee table. I thinks she's already questioning whether having children is wise.
I grabbed the Frontier Town exp off Amazon for SoB earlier, as I gather that adds a lot. The hex crawl fan expansion looks pretty sweet too.

It's a little sad that IDW games went out of business. They did put out some shit, but the AUGS game system that this and their previous TMNT games used was fantastic for a bit of dungeon crawling/skirmishing. I've never known another game where the entire experience can be solo, co-op, or competitive without house ruling or awkward systems. Everything can be campaigned or played as a one shot, and you can mix and match the characters between different IPs/releases without any converting or house ruling needed.

After getting the mythic tier of Heroquest I thought my boardgame itch had been well and truly scratched, but then I saw this yesterday: kck.st/3Ij7KaWI love Borderlands and this looks brilliant. I think I'm gonna have to back it 🤔 Edit: and backed it 😁

Well done! When in doubt, just back it and move on.
In other Kickstarter news, Dec 11 will see the launch of a 1889 reprint but big truck games.
It's considered to be one of the best introductory 18XX games and had mostly been available as print and play.
I've yet to play an 18XXer, so this is clearly Jesus giving me a personal gift.

Just backed Shikoku 1889 It has since been doing pretty well. Unlockng a bunch of nice, but somewhat superfluous, strech goals at a pace that makes it clear the screen printed tokens will be a thing.

My first ever Kickstarter has arrived in the form of Core Space First Born. Exciting! \o/
Really been looking forward to this, the first game is excellent and a personal favourite.
