I used to like Stuff You Should Know, might resubscribe and see how they're doing these days.
(Also, fuck off Rogan, obviously)

Working my way through The History of the 20th Century. Up to the start of WW2 after around 300 episodes. It's all done by this one guy but is very well researched and presented. A lot drier than Hardcore History but more in depth and the presenter has a wry sense of humour that often comes through. You'll probably already want to have an interest in history going in. I do skip the odd episode when the subject matter sounds less interesting to me. It covers world events and politics but also notable advances in technology, science, entertainment, etc.

History of the World in 100 Objects was great for detailed little snapshots of history If you liked that you might like Around the World in 80 Treasures on BBC iPlayer, with Dan Cruickshank.

Hannah Fry has a new short series of 15 min episodes telling the stories that important graphs have told us called Uncharted on BBC Sound. Its very much my sort of thing.

Looks like most people use podcasts to recreate Radio 4 Yeah, I used to listen to Radio 4 lots about 15-odd years ago. Nowadays, it's all about podcasts. Back on topic (with regards to podcast recommendations), I quite like the following: My Perfect Console - a weekly podcast run by games journalist Simon Parkin who gets some pretty interesting guests on occasion. Modern Wisdom - I got turned on to this recently, and find the host (Chris Williamson) to be quite intelligent. Joel Osteen - I know that a lot of people find his Christian preaching to be "fake", but I really like his "self-improvement" sermons.

This podcast i've been listening to for 10 years has had it's 1000th episode this weekend at a theatre in NY and i'm sad I didn't get to go. I've made a bunch of friends over the years through it and it's been nice.

For true crime fans I recommend season one of Bear Brook. It's very well made, and more respectful in tone than many similar podcasts that are often salacious or over-dramatised. Alongside the main narrative, it explores some of the scientific methods used to solve the mystery, and also highlights some collaborations between law enforcement and amateur investigators, which I found fascinating.

Seen it recommended before but I've really enjoyed the cane and rinse video game podcast.
I first started listening during the pandemic and it really helped me through that time which I found incredibly stressful with working from home and looking after two kids.
It's quite dry with very little comic relief which is fine by me, I really enjoy their deep dives into a games history and then discuss the merits or disappointments of their chosen title.

They haven't done one for ages but I also love the Cane and Rinse deep dive episodes into different consoles/hardware. Great show.

Yeah, I find it hard to listen to anything other than Cane and Rinse when it comes to games - the format is perfect for my tastes and the presenters are still really good (despite losing a few good ones the last year or so).

Yeah I noticed Darren Gargette and Joshua Gerrity have gone, I started from the beginning during lockdown with the occasional leap forward if anything caught my eye and heard they'd gone which I was a bit gutted about.

A new series of Things Fell Apart Jon Ronson’s series about the obscure origins of different culture wars phenomena has just been uploaded on BBC Sounds. It’ll start being added everywhere else weekly once it starts on Radio 4 too.
Its very very good.

Dear Joan and Jericha (Julia Davis and Vicki Pepperdine) How did I not know this existed, it is fookin hilarious, obviously I suppose given the formula and JD/VP. Speaking of which I just rewatched Camping, they both star and it is brilliant.
From Apple podcast:
Everywomen Joan Damry and Jericha Domain have between them worked in the fields of life coaching, female sexual health, psycho-genital counselling and sports journalism for the past 32 years. Joan has been married several times and has five children, while Jericha has been married for 30 years and has an only daughter, Cardinal. Joan recently turned her hand to erotic-romantic adult fiction, whilst Jericha has written 5 books on depression.
