I listen to everything at a minimum of 2x (want to fit in as much as I can into the working day) so shouldn't judge, but I couldn't listen to anything at 1.7 mainly because of the odd number!

Tried listening to some stuff on 1.5 as a test on my commute today... Did not like! I actually found it quite stressful 🤣

I accidentally slowed one of mine down the other week, everyone sounded normal apart from the host and I had assumed he was heavily medicated for something. Took me ages to get through it 😂

I put one back to normal speed recently, and it was infuriating... it sounded soooo slooooow. Anyway, the 400th episode of the Crate & Crowbar has Pip back and some minimal drinking, so it reminded me of the good old days of 3 hour episodes where people get progressively drunker and talk more and more shit. Which was the best. Ah... nostalgia.

I've been listening to cane and rinse based of recommendations. Think it's brilliant and really enjoyed the episodes I've listened to so far.
Goldeneye Last of us 2 BOTW Sonic the Hedgehog
Out of those they were all pretty balanced and not what I would call a "love in" apart from BOTW.
Goldeneye was interesting especially the history to its build up. Along with the fact that it was pretty much all agreed to not play it in 2022. It was a game of its time etc etc.

I'm listening to Cane & Rinse based on recommendations here. I don't know if it's really to my taste; people describe it as a "deep dive" but it often feels like a bit of a love-in for certain games. Some of the forum responses are pretty critical, but then the hosts just say "I disagree!" and basically move straight back into the love-in. Which is fine if that's what you want, but personally I think maybe it needs a bit more variety in terms of the tastes/opinions of the hosts. I like an American podcast called Watch Out For Fireballs. It's more like a book club but for games. They announce games in advance, and spend 2 to 3 hours going through the whole thing from beginning to end, warts and all. I like the hosts too, and they do a bunch of other shows as well. It's a deep dive but simultaneously a "love in". The list of games they cover is curated and it's not a review show so best not to go in expecting too much of a critical appraisal.

Yeah that's ok. Clearly it's popular, I guess people like to feel validated in their positive opinions about things. And that is fine! I just don't think it's the right format for me.

New series starting from BBC about a group of environmentalists who ended up on the FBI Most Wanted List for trying to save the environment using bombs and arson. Pretty interesting so far. I was so unfamiliar with the story I had to do some googling to work out whether it was fiction or not, its not. www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/brand/p0cx6tw7?partner=uk.co.bbc&origin=share-mobile

Alex Honnold’s podcast Climbing Gold just did a four part series about the dope lake incident. A plane with like six tonnes of weed crashing in 1970s Yosemite Valley and the dirtbag hippy rock climbers who found it.
Its a wild story and was the inspiration for the movie Cliffhanger

I guess people like to feel validated in their positive opinions about things. And that is fine! Late reply, but I'm an absolute sucker for this and it's why I love C&R so much. I can waste hours watching YouTube videos that uncritically praise my favourite games and movies. I guess I just love shared enthusiasm. I've always felt so gutted whenever I've recommended something to someone and they come back and tell me they didn't like it. EDIT: And thanks for the tip on WOFF, will definitely give that a listen.

The FPS gaming podcast is decent and they get some quite high profile guests on there. Recently the director of GOW Ragnarok.
Comes out every 2 weeks.

What's a good free film review podcast?
Used to listen to Kermode/Mayo but can't seem to find a free version of their podcast outside of Apple

I think I've almost only listened to Gamewank and 2 Good Boys for the last 4 weeks and I'm pretty sure my inner monologue now has a thick Scottish accent.

A new podcast from Andrew O’Neill the nonbinary black metal comedian. Its a weird collage of haunting sounds, spooky stuff and very silly jokes. http://instagram.com/p/CoESMIfoEZg

I’ve just finished listening to Scamanda - about an American woman who falsely claimed to have cancer. And yeah, it did remind me of the old days.
She was a lot more convincing, apparently, as she managed to con her community out of over £100,000. It’s a bit infuriating listening to her drivel knowing full well none of what she’s saying is true, but it’s still a pretty gripping story. Especially when all her hens start coming home to roost.

Joe Pera has a new podcast about the intersection of sleep and comedy. Its very relaxing. All the usual places + youtube. Recommend listening to each one in a single sitting.

Parfait. Always after podcasts to drift off to.
I started listening to Kathy Burke's Where there's a Will, there's a Wake. Very funny, with weekly guests telling her how they'd like to die, last supper, funeral arrangements etc. Last week was Danny Dyer. Sweariest podcast ever imo.

Apparently these are the top 25 most popular podcasts in the UK. I’ve genuinely never heard of several of them and only listen to the ones in bold. There’s a definite theme among the ones I do.
1. The Joe Rogan Experience 2. The Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett 3. Off Menu with Ed Gamble and James Acaster 4. Sh**ged Married Annoyed 5. That Peter Crouch Podcast 6. The Rest Is Politics 7. No Such Thing As A Fish 8. Newscast 9. The Therapy Crouch 10. The Daily 11. The Rest is History 12. The News Agents 13. The Infinite Monkey Cage 14. Happy Place 15. Parenting Hell 16. NewlyWeds 17. Saving Grace 18. Desert Island Discs 19. You’re Dead to Me 20. Stuff You Should Know 21. Money Box 22. The Fellas 23. Uncanny 24. Kermode & Mayo’s Take 25. Impaulsive with Logan Paul

Jake Humphrey invents the podcast and doesn’t even make the top 25. Where is the justice?
